3. Transfer
Two days after meeting Firumia, Shiro had been pacing anxiously all morning, waiting for her to arrive.
Shiro felt a faint regret for having forgotten to ask whether anything from this world could be brought over to the other side. But he figured physical objects from here probably couldn’t be taken, so he decided to log every piece of information that seemed useful or potentially helpful into Mitoka’s AI database for now.
The information I’d originally thought necessary for constructing a fantasy world within my own system had been collected in electronic form.
Precisely at two in the afternoon, Firumia visited once more.
"Shiro, hello."
"Good day, Firumia."
Shiro, Firumia is fine. So, are you ready?
"Yeah. I'm ready—well, mostly mentally prepared, I guess. So, my assistant AI, is it really going to be able to cross over there?"
Shiro asked, voice tinged with a mix of tension and unease.
Yes, the electronic data format is relatively easy to convert, so it’s fine. Shiro’s developed auxiliary AI system can access Shiro’s soul directly through a pseudo-personality form over there. As Shiro designed it, it’ll be reconstructed as a magical lifeform.
Oh, I see...
Shiro lets out a breath of awe. And only now, belatedly, does it occur to him,
"And what about our outfits and gear?"
And I heard it.
I’m sorry, but physical items from Earth can’t be brought over. Your body will be converted and provided anew—your clothes will be on you, of course.
Firumia gave a subtle smile in reply.
"Can't we just fetch Earth's data or stuff later? No internet connection or anything like that..."
Shiro, playing it safe, asked anyway.
"Ah, not possible right now. The way existence itself is implemented differs between worlds—there are sync issues due to differing time flows, problems with existential consistency, and so on. It's not something you can just transfer. That said, we're developing a conversion tool, so it might become possible someday. I can't guarantee it, but I'll let you know when it's ready."
Firumia smiled—calm, sincere, almost like she was debugging a critical system.
"Also, everything you'll need is already with Mitoka, so I’m confident your immediate living situation will be fine," Firumia said.
"Mitoka… chan?"
Shiro muttered, brow furrowed in confusion, but she pretended not to hear.
"Ah well, the fun’s in the journey, isn’t it!"
And with that, she flashed him her most radiant smile again.
For a split second, Shiro was lost in her smile—then snapped back to reality.
"Understood. I’m ready. I’ll go in with my eyes open!"
He replied with a forced cheer, half-defeated, half-determined.
"Then, go on ahead!"
She said it, and instantly snapped her fingers like before.
The sound rang through the air—Shiro felt a sudden buoyancy, then his consciousness slipped away, smooth as a system shutdown.
