71. Wyvern 2

71. Wyvern 2

"Here they come!" Shiro whispered.

The wyvern’s drawn in by the giant boa I set up early this morning—still fresh, since it came straight from Shiro’s inventory.

The wyvern circled above, on high alert, but after a moment seemed to relax and descended. It began prodding at the giant boa.

"Good — now!" Shiro signaled.

Initiating frontal assault.

"Ask the spirit, become the wind, answer my will—there, a swirling storm, a force that sweeps all away..." Aria chanted, and at the same time,

“Appeal to the spirit—answer my will, freeze that land…” Shestia chants as well.

And at the same time,

"Wind Tornado!" "Ice Freeze!"

And screamed.

A massive magic circle flared to life at the wyverns’ position, and the blizzard activated. A blizzard, twenty percent stronger than the last one, roared through.

Definitely stronger than before—trying to freeze the entire group of five Wyverns solid white.

The wyvern flinched and faltered at the sudden attack, briefly leaping into the air as if to flee.

But two of them are staggering.

Then, twenty lightning lances flew from the left flank, impaling the wyverns.

At the same time, from the right flank, Sophia fired a Fire Bomb. The explosion sent the two flying.

Two fell from the sky. Three managed to hold on and rose into the upper air.

"Three bodies are fleeing!" Shiro shouted.

Of the two that fell, Albert sped toward the one on the left, his body enhanced, moving at high speed.

He channeled magic into his sword, slashing clean through the neck with a blade glowing rainbow-hued and pale blue.

The second one on the right was pierced through by Aria’s Fire Arrow and Fire Laser.

The writhing Wyvern was then severed at the neck by Sophia, who likewise channeled magic into her blade.

“Huh,” Sophia murmured, impressed. “This thing cuts remarkably well.”

“Spirit, heed my will—strike down my foe with an ice spear. Ice Lance!” She chanted, and one of the Wyverns in the sky was pierced through. Then she chanted again.

“Spirit, heed my will—completely freeze my enemy… Absolute Freeze!”

As Shestia shouted, a magic circle flared above the Wyvern, encasing it entirely in ice.

The frozen Wyvern plummeted, shattering into fragments upon impact with the ground with a thunderous crack.

The final one still airborne was ensnared by Mitoka, who wove threads of magic above, then fired twenty Lightning Needles in rapid succession.

With its head and wings severed, the Wyvern crashed down.

“Hey—look at that sword they’re using. Glowing rainbow colors… could it be Orichalcum? The legendary one?”

A traveler shouted.

“Yeah, probably. Just watch that fight. It’s insane…”

The adventurers and soldiers watching from the fortress stood stunned, awestruck by the sheer ferocity of the battle.

Six people against five Wyverns—overwhelming them completely.

“Obsidian Ice Wind? No… Rainbow Sword Demon?” The traveler bellowed.

The new nickname went unnoticed by Shiro and the others for quite some time.

One remaining wyvern, larger than the others, stood facing Shiro in the sky.

The final wyvern still held firm despite the attacks it had endured.

Mitoka approached Shiro and spoke.

"Shiro, this one's abnormal. Level's over eight hundred. Magic—it's..."

Before Mitoka could finish, the wyvern fired a fire laser from its mouth.

"!"

Shiro deployed a barrier instantly, barely deflecting the laser upward.

"Wait—no way. Why's a wyvern using fire magic?" Shiro muttered, stunned.

"Shiro, it's definitely an anomaly. Magic level's way beyond normal," Mitoka analyzed.

Shiro cut with his usual precision, using metal rod-based magic control to shape a blade.

When the blade struck the wyvern's neck, a flash and sparks erupted.

"Wha—? The magic blade didn't work?" Shiro exclaimed.

The wyvern spun instantly, swinging its tail down at Shiro in a blow meant to crush.

Shiro barely dodged, but the barrier's footing and three-dimensional mobility weren't enough—he couldn't brace properly, and his speed lagged. At the moment his stance wavered, the wyvern launched a wind ball directly at him.

"Shiro!" Shestia cried from below, watching.

The wind ball hit Shiro, sending him flying.

"Shiro!" Mitoka shouted.

"...Ah, I'm fine! Managed to block it with a magic aura, but this is bad. Magic power's too weak."

Shiro replied. At that moment, the wyvern's fire laser struck him again.

"Ku!" Shiro was blown back again, crimson blood scattering through the air.

Seeing it, Shestia—

“Nooooo!” he screamed.

Shestia’s nightmare from her dream resurfaces—again—and she’s thrown into disarray.

Shiro’s had wounds so bad they’d kill him—more than once—something he’s seen in dreams, over and over.

And I don’t want to lose Shiro! I have to fly over there and save him! I want to fight by the side of the one I love!—that feeling surged sharply, and I could feel strength rising from my body.

Shestia’s body glows faintly red.

Then,

‘Shestia! Calm down!’ Shestia felt Mitoka’s voice.

“Huh? Mitoka? A voice in your head?” Shestia blinked, surprised.

‘Shestia, no time to spare—brief explanation. Your emotions triggered your skill. You’ve activated it unconsciously before, and that’s when our souls linked. Now, in this situation, the link’s re-established. I’m sending you a 3D mobility skill right now. Fight alongside me?’ Mitoka asked Shestia.

"Of course!" Shestia replied without hesitation.

Shestia recalled a memory, now.

Some time ago, when this world was crumbling and no one could stop it anymore—when I was already dead—the unique skill I possessed, [Soul Fragment Link], activated. It sought out a soul that shared my thoughts and could fight alongside me, wandering aimlessly until, somehow, I found it and linked with it.

Shestia unconsciously activates 【Self-Sync】. Instantly, three-dimensional mobility skill data streams in from Mitoka, and Shestia gains knowledge of how to use it.

Shestia flew with Mitoka toward Shiro using立体機動.

“Shiro! You okay?” Shestia called out to Shiro.

“…Yeah, I’m still alive… Wait, Shestia, how the hell are you flying?” Shiro asked.

“Shiro, we’ll talk later. Me and Shestia’ll support you. We’re linking three souls. You fight using martial arts at full power with both Magic Aura and Qi Cloak active. We’ll handle magic supply, defense, and split up spell processing,” Mitoka explained to Shiro.

“…Yeah. Got it. I’ll try something,” Shiro steadied himself, fully activated Magic Aura and Qi Cloak, sharpened the blade with precision surface manifestation using the metal rod, and charged toward the Wyvern.

After several strikes, Shiro pulled back.

The Wyvern fired another Fire Laser.

Unconsciously, Shiro focused his Qi Cloak and Magic Aura to counter the laser.

——『【Magic Aura】 upgraded to Level 2』

——『【Qi Cloak】 upgraded to Level 2』

At the moment the laser struck, he instinctively synchronized both Cloaks.

——『【Divine Arts】 upgraded to Level 1』

“⁉”

Shiro snapped awake.

His body glowed white.

The Fire Laser hit the white aura, flared brilliantly, and scattered in radiant bursts.

“This is… Divine Arts!” Shiro shouted.

He felt a new force surge through him—magic and life energy resonating, as if a second power had awakened.

He sensed energy radiating from between his brows.

The source of Divine Arts activation—Divine Power.

“That’s… Divine Arts… beautiful,” Shestia murmured, watching Shiro’s entire body glow white, light spilling from his forehead.

“Gravity Shield. Inertia Control,” Shiro murmured.

The top-tier spell he’d always wanted to use—gravity control.

[Gravity Shield] sets your gravitational coefficient to zero. In other words, it’s a parameter that removes you entirely from the world’s physical processing—specifically, any gravitational influence. Not a meddling interference with gravity as a physical phenomenon. You’re simply excluded from gravity’s calculations altogether.

And [Inertia Control] lets you move through space like a character in a game—completely fluid, with no limits. Combine the two, and you can fly through the air like a block in that tower-building game.

——‘[Gravity Shield] Level 1 acquired.’

——‘[Inertia Control] Level 1 acquired.’

“Mitoka, Shestia—step back a bit!” Shiro sent the thought telepathically.

“Understood.” “Got it.”

“Multi-Laser Rod,” Shiro chanted. Ten magic circles appeared, each spitting out beams of light ten meters long, streaking outward like homing missiles, piercing the wyvern from all sides.

Then, “Electro-Cuation,” he said. Lightning spikes erupted from the wyvern’s body.

The wyvern collapsed, losing strength, crashing to the ground.

Shiro said, “Lightning Boost,” and instantly returned to the ground.

The wyvern groaned, thrashing about on the earth.

Shiro chanted, “Electro-Paralyze,” and paralyzed the beast with a jolt of electricity.

The wyvern slowed slightly. Still moving. Shiro blinked. Surprised it was still alive.
