90. Stampede 2
Shiro fired a restraining spell from above at five wyverns. His job was to force them down to ground level.
"Damn! Five of them—just keeping them in check is tough!" Shiro shouted, weaving through the sky. He climbed as high as possible and kept unleashing Homing Lightning Stun.
From below, Sophia and Shirena took turns firing Fire Bullets at the five wyverns. Their magic had gained extra power thanks to Shiro’s advice and the staff they’d been given.
When the disoriented wyverns began ascending again, Shiro struck from above with a stronger Homing Lightning Shock. The wyverns finally crashed to the ground.
"Good—Albert, let’s go!" Altea called to Albert, charging toward the fallen wyverns. Both were among the finest swordsmen in this world. With Shiro’s magical sword, the fallen wyverns were no match at all.
Altea and Albert slashed through the wyverns one after another with their enchanted blades.
Meanwhile, Shirena, Sophia, and the other adventurers joined in, erasing all five wyverns completely.

After clearing the smaller to mid-sized monsters, they faced their final, greatest obstacle: the Giga-Turtle. A colossal land turtle, towering ten meters high and twenty meters wide—like a moving fortress.
"This… is ridiculously huge," Shiro muttered. A bigger version of the Great Turtle he’d once faced in the Magic Great Forest. The Great Turtle evolved into this size. Up close, it looked like a massive structure built from stone.
He thought, This time, I’m getting my revenge on the Gigantic Turtle.
The Gigantic Turtle’s greatest weapon was its sheer size and the abnormal hardness that came with it. Even at this scale, it moved with surprising speed. A monster not easily felled.
“Watch out for earth magic!” Sophia shouted.
The Gigantic Turtle used earth magic. It fired stone projectiles toward all directions. At the same time, it launched long-range stone projectiles toward the capital city repeatedly. Each time, Mitoka’s barrier deflected them.
At the moment of deflection, the stones flared with light and shattered into dust.
The citizens of the capital watched with uneasy eyes. Those who saw Mitoka spreading white wings that glowed gold in the sky thought she was an angel—and their faith deepened, believing Firumia was protecting the city.
“Shestia! Freeze it solid with ice magic!” Shiro shouted.
“Got it! Calling on the spirit—[Ice Freeze Box]!” Shestia began chanting.
But in that instant, the Gigantic Turtle fired a stone projectile straight at Shestia.
“Eeek!” “Danger!” Shiro yelled.
He teleported instantly to Shestia’s side and deployed a barrier. The stone shattered against it.
“Are you okay, Shestia?”
“Yeah. I’m fine. Thanks.”
“Good. Let’s freeze it again!”
“Yeah. Calling on the spirit—[Ice Freeze Box]!” Shestia chanted once more.
A new spell, refined after Shiro’s advice. By limiting the area, it could freeze more efficiently.
A massive magical circle rose into the air.
A cubic, translucent box of shimmering light materialized around the Giganto Turtle. It froze the interior in an instant.
But not quite enough to stop it completely. After all, it was simply too massive.
"Alright, one more time! This time, I’ll assist with mana," Shiro said, placing a hand on Shestia’s shoulder from the side.
Shiro and Shestia looked at each other. Nodded. Both glowed faintly.
Then Shestia fixed her gaze on the Giganto Turtle.
"Seek the spirit—[Ice Freeze Box]," she chanted for the third time.
The massive magic circle flared once more.
A translucent, glowing cube—brighter than before—appeared again.
It froze the interior instantly. Even whiter than before.
The Giganto Turtle slowed down.
"Good! Now’s our chance! Everyone, aim for its legs—pour everything you’ve got into it!"
All present who could cast magic unleashed their spells in unison.
The Giganto Turtle roared, thrashing wildly—but after a moment, movement slowed to near stillness.
"Everyone, back!" Shiro shouted.
Shiro teleported upward to high altitude, then activated: [Homing Melted Mithril Pilebunker].
The spell Shiro had been planning against the Great Turtle all along. He’d upped the power for the Giganto variant.
As Shiro chanted, the massive magic circle blazed. A colossal column emerged—silver-white with a faint crimson hue, glowing white-hot. Four meters thick, at least thirty meters long: a colossal mithril spike, sharpened to a needle-point.
It plunged straight down toward the Giga-Turtle, with full force.
The spike, already accelerated by its fall from above, spun as it struck the center of the Giga-Turtle’s shell.
People braced for the sound and impact—but the spear passed through silently, sliding clean through the shell and embedding itself into the ground.
The Giga-Turtle screamed, then fell silent.
Everyone gathered around.
“Done,” Aria murmured.
“Finished,” Shestia smiled.
“Shestia, Albert—you’ve really grown stronger,” Aria said, looking at both of them with a warm smile. Albert nodded, smiling too.
“It was Shiro’s doing,” Shestia replied.
“Just glad everyone’s safe,” Shiro said to the group.
“But that final spell… incredible. How much mana did that even take?” Sophia muttered, shaking her head.
“Shiro!” Mitoka called from above, landing gracefully.
“Hey, Mitoka. Tough fight, huh?” Shiro asked.
“No, just a rock. No problem at all,” Mitoka said with a smile.
“…Right. Anyway, thanks for protecting the capital,” Shiro said, giving her his widest smile. Mitoka blushed slightly and nodded.
Then came the retreat operations. Shiro pulled the massive Giga-Turtle into his inventory—then, at the very end, startled everyone once more.
The other monsters were left where they were; the Guild’s dismantling crew would handle them later.
