101. Hero Training
When Shiro and the others returned, everyone asked how it had gone.
"Yeah, I get it now. Kotone’s skill is a bit special—kind of like mine, actually. I’ll give her proper instruction later," Shiro said.
Kotone’s face turned slightly red.
"...Huh," Mizuki and Makoto replied with smirks.
"Anyway, for now, let’s start with teaching everyone how to manipulate mana."
Shiro said, deflecting the moment, and proceeded to explain how to sense and control mana and vitality using a translucent body overlay—just as he had taught Aria and Sophia before.
Thanks to Shiro’s method, Kotone managed to successfully cast her first-level spell, and she felt a bit better for it.
"By the way, Emilia—does this world have a sacred sword?" Makoto asked.
"No. If by 'sacred sword' you mean a blade with mysterious power, as told in legends, then no such thing exists. Those tales are regarded purely as fiction."
Emilia answered, her voice tinged with quiet sadness.
"Legends?" Shiro asked, having overheard the exchange, turning to Emilia.
"Yes, Master. There are many stories about heroes in this world, but they’re all treated as fairy tales. Not a single mention of a sacred sword in any divine revelation or oral tradition."
"Huh... So that’s how it is. Too bad. A hero’s always got a sacred sword, right?" Shiro murmured.
"Exactly! Shiro-sama gets it. Can’t we do something about it?" Makoto whispered.
"Well, then," Shiro said casually, "why not just make one?"
"Shiro, you know, can you really make a sacred blade that easily? I mean, what's it actually like, a sacred blade, anyway?" Aria said, poking fun after a long silence.
"No, like, fancy—some hero gets summoned, then blasts out a light spell or something?" Makoto said.
"Ah, I see..." Shiro muses, thoughtfully.
"Good!" Shiro says, then suddenly manifests a barrier sphere.
"……Ah, she's at it again," Aria muttered.
"I wish I had a holy sword too," Shestia said, innocently murmuring.
Shiro forged the mithril into a sword using the same method he’d used to create the magical blade. Naturally, it was coated in orichalcum. Then, drawing from memory, he added decorative elements—embedding crystals that glowed blue at random, giving it a decently cool look.
How’s that? Feel right?
"Whoa, Shiro-bro, you're awesome! Seriously, you just made something like that out of nowhere!" Makoto exclaims, beaming.
"Yeah, so, just a sec. Normally this bracelet holds... " Shiro mutters under his breath.
Shiro fashions a bracer, embeds a magic array. Registers the user, adds a basic inventory function. Enables quick retrieval via memory UI—draw the sword in an instant. Naturally, it can store other items too, making it a storage artifact.
After about ten minutes, Shiro paused his work,
Good work. This is a storage-capable holy sword vault. Makoto, give it a try.
And Shiro said.
"Is that a magical device?" Aida asked. As an expert in magical arrays and enchanted implements, I couldn't just stand there silently anymore.
"Uh? Yeah, that’s a storage enchantment device. Stuff whatever you think of in there, pull it out just by thinking it, that kind of thing," Shiro said, brushing it off casually.
"Wait—storage? You can pull stuff out just by thinking?" Aida gaped.
"Shiro. There’s no such thing as that kind of magic device in this world," Mitoka explained to him.
"Wait—really?!" Shiro blinked, startled, looking at Mitoka.
Then,
"……Well, who cares? You’re the Hero, after all. A legendary weapon’s not out of the question. Emilia, you’re registering as owner, so come over here. Makoto, you’ll be her support. Got it?" Shiro said,
"…Yes," Emilia replied, stepping forward and channeling magic to complete the registration.
"Good. Makoto, try it out," Shiro said, handing him the bracelet.
"Yesss! Thanks, Shiro-nii! Alright, grant me strength—appear, Holy Sword Excalibur!"
Makoto raised his right hand, chanted something random, and a dazzling blue holy sword materialized in his grip. The blade glowed intensely, scattering golden light particles like sparks.
"Whoa," the onlookers murmured, stunned by the flashy display.
"...Senior, please don’t hand that idiot something weird," Kotone whispered to Shiro.
"Haha. Well, what’s the point if it’s not a little fun?" Shiro smiled at her.
Kotone froze for a moment, caught off guard by the sudden, childlike innocence in Shiro’s eyes and smile—her heart gave a little jolt.
Afterward, Shiro gave individual instruction, tailoring each lesson to the person’s specific traits.
Emilia specialized in holy magic—healing and barrier spells. Shiro projected a 3D hologram of a human body, explaining internal mechanics in detail.
Knowing something makes spellcasting more precise than not knowing.
Kotone, whose father was a physician and mother a nurse, was well-versed in such matters, so Shiro asked her to handle follow-up.
Mizuki excelled in alchemy and magical toolcraft, teaching several recipes. She then discussed the method for generating Ecler for magical devices—Aida and Masaki joined in the conversation, animated and engaged, marking the beginning of the later magical toolcraft group.
Masaki, with a scientific mind and broad general knowledge, was entrusted by Shiro to follow up on Mizuki’s teachings.
Steven, under Shiro’s guidance, acquired Qi techniques and trained in martial arts alongside Albert. Additionally, Steven specialized in wind magic, so Shiro asked Mizuki—whose affinity matched that element—to guide him.
As for Makoto, he effortlessly mastered everything through instinct, innate bodily awareness, and natural rhythm. He picked up martial arts and magic with ease, leaving everyone around him astonished.
