第50掘:より良き生活の為に (Part2)
"That is true. If such a method existed, it would already be in practice. It seems there is no way to cheat anywhere in this world.
Yuki, there is another method involving channeling MP directly through the Dungeon Master, but for the sake of your own safety and the integrity of the Core, that is not an option.
I had considered whether we, the members under designated protection, could do it, but the moment one receives designated protection, the ability to absorb DP is nullified. In other words, we cannot convert MP directly into DP. Even if it were possible for those without protection to channel their MP, the lack of a 'skim' would allow for absurd DP requests, which presents its own set of problems. The Fairy race, possessing such vast MP, would likely use it to do as they please. No, at worst, it would lead to a rift between the various races.
Truly, this is an environment where cheating is impossible. Then again, our current situation is already quite a 'cheat' in itself, so perhaps I am being too greedy.
Ah, my heart is currently leaning toward settling in this dungeon permanently. Honestly, as long as you don't lose your mind, Yuki, this dungeon is safer than anywhere else on this continent. Even if the nations currently cooperating with us were to defect, or if a multitude of countries were to attack, they would never be able to break through this dungeon's defenses.
First, a large-scale army cannot advance here. Second, we can neutralize hostile forces with a multitude of traps. Third, fields that seal skills and magic are set in almost every area. Fourth, weapons may only be carried if they remain sheathed; even drawing them outside of designated areas incurs penalties. I hear you're even using your special items to attach seals that trigger paralysis the moment a weapon is drawn. Fifth, those you value highly are under designated protection, meaning they cannot even be scratched while inside the dungeon.
The only point of concern is the future acceptance of travelers, merchants, and adventurers who are not permanent residents, which could be used to incite internal strife. However, those under designated protection carry specific teleportation rings, allowing for an immediate escape. We have the fastest possible communication via 'Call,' and we can suppress any uprising with the monsters we have deployed. Furthermore, those under designated protection will soon have Doppelgangers standing in as bodyguards.
Considering all these points, there is truly no reason to leave. The nature and weather here make it hard to believe we are inside a dungeon. This is, perhaps, the greatest place a person could ever imagine."
I had been lost in thought for too long.
"Well, if you want ice cream, it is handled at the training facility's shop and the town's stores, so you can purchase it there," I said.
"Eh!? Is that true!?"
"Yes. I will explain the details regarding that, as well as the jobs you can take to earn the money to buy such items, so please listen carefully."
"All right!! I'm suddenly feeling motivated!!"
I had worried about distributing such wonderful luxuries, but it seems it has stimulated everyone's motivation more than I expected. There will surely be some who become lazy in this environment, but that is a personal matter.
"Those who have finished their ice cream, please dispose of it in this trash bin. Just like in town, these bins are placed in various locations to keep things clean. Please do not litter. This is important for hygiene—in other words, to prevent the spread of strange illnesses. No one wants to eat anything rotten, right? By disposing of such things properly, we prevent the breeding of rats and the like, which feed on decaying matter."
Eris-san explained as she collected the trash.
"Huh? I understand that rotten things are bad, but why is it bad if the rats that eat them multiply?"
Oh my, she asked the same question I did. When you think about it, it's obvious, but I suppose it can't be helped. Most people don't think that far ahead.
"Yes, that is a good question. Why do you think rats are fine even after eating bad things?"
"Isn't it because rats don't get sick?"
"Yes, that is correct. However, just because rats don't get sick doesn't mean we won't."
"Ah, I see. Even if the rats are fine, it might be fatal for us. So, if rats that eat things we shouldn't eat multiply, it becomes a cause for disease to spread... Eris-san, you're amazing!!"
As the student who asked the question expressed her admiration, those around her seemed to have been listening as well, and everyone nodded in agreement.
