落とし穴11掘:日常とお約束 後編
**Pitfall 11: Daily Life and Tropes, Part 2**
**Side: Yuki**
"Uh, hi there."
"And who might you be?"
"Well, I’m Yuki, the representative of this place..."
"Ah, so you’re Marquis Yuki. A pleasure. I am Jama Raburuse, one of the members of the current inspection team."
His attitude was surprisingly standard. Well, he’s just a son, so he’s not actually a Duke or anything, but he’s clearly acting like the heir apparent. If Seraria found out about this, there would be a bloodbath...
"Right. So, do you have some business regarding Shera?"
"Indeed. You have been treating Princess Shera as a mere laborer and a nuisance, haven't you?"
"No, that’s actually—"
"You clearly don't understand why Princess Shera was entrusted to you! If you treat a princess like that, there will surely be a protest. It defeats the entire purpose, don't you see? She must be treated with the utmost care. The King may have trusted you with her, but this is unacceptable. Hand the Princess over to me."
"I see. And what happens if I hand her over to you, Jama-san?"
"You will be freed from the burden of handling her, and I will treat her with care in my own territory, which will earn me favor with Roschur and Gartz. See? It’s a win-win for both of us."
*Ah*, how should I put this? He’s the type who only listens to surface-level information. No wonder he feels he can act so boldly toward me, Seraria’s husband. He thinks he’s doing me a favor by taking the "burden" off my hands. I don't know how impressive the Raburuse territory is, but he likely has some connection to the Roschur royal capital. If he takes Shera in, he fulfills her original purpose, and while the Roschur side might be annoyed, it’s not the capital, so they’d likely accept it and his reputation would rise. It would also give him a perfect excuse to criticize the dungeon.
But the premise relies on Shera wanting to go and us finding her a nuisance.
"I’m afraid I must decline. Shera works here because she wants to, and our marriage is quite happy."
"Huh?"
*Oh dear*, he didn't expect to be turned down.
"Wait a moment. Did I just hear you refuse?"
"Yes, I refuse. Furthermore, this arrangement was a reward granted directly by the King. For me to hand that over to an unnamed noble who hasn't even inherited his father's title yet—do you realize what a massive problem that would be?"
"Unnamed? I am the eldest son of Raburuse and the next—"
"Currently, you are just a son. Honestly, I have to question the education provided by your father, the Duke."
"What could you possibly question about my father?!"
"The audacity to try and snatch another man's wife. Shall I report this to Seraria or the King of Roschur? Your house might just topple over. Oh, surely you aren't going to tell me this was your father's suggestion? That would be bordering on treason."
"Guh...!?"
*Hm*, so he does understand he’s being unreasonable.
"Well, Shera is a beauty, so I can understand the sentiment. Let’s just pretend this never happened. We'll call it the folly of youth."
"...Are you truly certain Princess Shera desires this life?"
"Yes, she does. Shera, come on in."
"Yes, Yuki-sama."
Shera, who had been waiting outside, entered the room and sat down right next to me.
"Jama-dono, I work in this dungeon of my own volition, and I am happy to be Yuki-sama’s wife. I appreciate your concern, but I am not treated as a nuisance at all. In fact, I’m glad I came here."
"I... see..."
Jama hung his head in defeat.
"Are you convinced now?"
"...Yes, my apologies. Marquis Yuki, can we keep this matter quiet, as you suggested?"
"I suppose that’s for the best. Let’s keep this between us. Now, the others on the inspection team must be wondering where you’ve gone. You should return and put them at ease."
As I opened the door, Ratz and Eris were standing there, having been eavesdropping.
"Oh!! Come to think of it, where are your husbands? It’s a shame about Princess Shera, but if you two are here, that’s a minor detail."
*Hey, hey*, are you really saying that in front of Shera?
"...Yuki-sama, can I kill this rude man now?"
"Calm down, Kirue, you’ll actually do it. Kirue, I’m joking, put the combat knife away."
"......Yes."
While that was happening, Ratz and Eris were reaching their breaking point.
"I am not an afterthought!! Don't mess with me!!"
"...Well, please shut your mouth already. We’ll have our husband beat you to a pulp."
"Why are you all so angry?"
*Ah*, he’s hopeless. He can’t read the room at all.
"Our husband is Marquis Yuki, who is standing right there."
"So please, just stop it. Shall I call Seraria?"
"W-what? Your husband is Marquis Yuki? H-how?! I’m clearly much more impressive than him! Why would women like you flock to a man like this? It’s impossible!!"
He’s finally lost his grip on reality. You haven't done anything yourself, have you? Well, if you asked me if I were a handsome man, I’d say no, but I have my own accomplishments.
"Ah, that’s it," Ratz said with a smile.
"No matter how you look at it, Yuki-san is superior," Eris added, her expression blank but her pressure mounting.
"Yuki-sama, I apologize. As his wife, I cannot overlook such insults directed at my husband. Isn't that right, Kirue?"
"As Shera-sama says."
Shera and Kirue were now in combat mode as well.
"W-what?! What are you all—"
And so, Jama ended up spending the rest of his inspection days in a hospital bed. Incidentally, even though he was screaming and shouting, word of this reached Seraria’s ears, and he reportedly saw a living hell.
This story would later be passed down as a classic tale: *Never lay a hand on another man’s wife.* Furthermore, Jama became a fixed character archetype—the classic "nuisance"—and is kicked around in every story he appears in.
"Well, that’s that... Rest in peace."
And thus, the short story concludes. *Whew, that dragged on.*
