第138掘:変態に明日は無し (Part2)
One might assume that "sword" refers to a frontal assault, "spear" to keeping one's distance, and "bow" to a surprise attack from afar. However, for us, these terms are merely numbers. Even if an enemy were to overhear us, they would have no way of discerning our true strategy.
"2300. It’s time. Begin the operation."
"Understood!"
We teleported into the treasury. Upon arrival, we immediately dispersed to secure the perimeter. As the intelligence report suggested, there were no strange traps inside. Yuki-san had mentioned that because the locks were so powerful, they likely hadn't bothered with traps that might damage the treasures themselves. There was only one entrance, and the only magical alarm was on the door, not inside. Yuki-san had remarked that "surveillance cameras are important," though I have no idea what those are.
While we kept watch, Yuki-san handled the monster placement and the unlocking of the vault—or rather, he nullified it using his authority as a Dungeon Master. He even installed a bolt so the door could be locked from the inside.
Right on schedule at 2305, a heavy thud sounded from outside the door as someone collapsed. Yuki-san led the way, opening the door to reveal the Shadow Snake—the key to our conquest of the Demon King’s castle. It gave a sharp nod toward us before vanishing into the dark corridor.
The Shadow Snake is said to be a snake-type monster that prefers operating in darkness. I had never heard of such a creature, and even Mauve-san and the other adventurers were clueless. That is hardly surprising, as this Shadow Snake is a legendary-class monster with a level of 130. It was discovered during monster observation experiments in the arena. It is essentially an assassin: it moves in near-total silence, can suppress its magical presence, and possesses dark vision.
It isn't particularly large, only about four meters long, but it possesses agility, attack power, and a snake-specific venom that befits its level 130 status. It also possesses an ability Yuki-san calls "Camouflage," allowing it to change its body color to match its surroundings—a truly terrifying monster. Surprisingly, its natural color is white.
We couldn't just leave everything to the Shadow Snakes. Led by Liliana-san, we sprinted toward the Demon King's room. Along the way, the undead Dullahan Assassin and the healer Wight Noir, who were in charge of elimination and capture, saluted us. At their feet lay soldiers either incapacitated or bound tightly with rope.
The Dullahan Assassin is a higher-tier variant of the Dullahan. While I don't know much about them, Dullahans are already high-ranking monsters, and this assassin variant specializes in stealth. At level 120, it is lower than the Shadow Snake and has less defensive power, but its speed is immense. Despite wearing iron armor, it moves with almost no sound.
The Wight Noir is also an undead, said to be the remains of a high-ranking mage that has turned into a monster. Mauve-san and his group have defeated one before, but it nearly caused the fall of an entire city. Wights can use magic and command other monsters; it is said that the ones leading the Great Stampedes are of the Wight lineage. The one Mauve-san fought was only the lowest rank. This Noir specializes in support magic. While healing magic doesn't work on the undead, it can still use it, and if it takes command, it becomes extremely troublesome. According to Rock-san of the Adventurer’s Guild, a Wight Noir appeared about 110 years ago, causing two small nations to fall before a coalition army finally managed to defeat it. Its level was 90, the lowest of its kind. Yuki-san had asked why it had a French name—I wonder what "French" is?
We were using these three—the Shadow Snake, the Dullahan Assassin, and the Wight Noir—as a single team to neutralize the enemies within the castle. There were 300 of them in total, meaning 100 teams were currently busy neutralizing or eliminating the hostile forces.
After turning a few corners, Liliana-san stopped in front of a door. We all halted, and seeing her nod, we knew this was the Demon King's room. Everyone glanced at Yuki-san for a split second, and the moment he nodded, we kicked the luxurious door open to find the Demon King...
"Hah! I’ve put it on! Liliana’s underwear! And now for the rest!"
With that, the pervert stuffed what appeared to be Liliana-san's undergarments into his mouth.
"Die!"
Liliana-san lunged forward, smashed her fist into his face, and sent him crashing into the bed.
"Guh!? Wh-what, Liliana!? Heh heh heh, I don't know how you did it, but it was your mistake not to finish me off with that last strike."
The pervert, still wearing the undergarments, stood up on the bed and declared, "Ho, so the ones behind you are your accomplices? I'll kill the man, and as for the women, I'll have a taste of them first..."
The pervert’s words did not reach their conclusion. The reason was simple.
*Splat.*
Flesh and gore splattered across the Demon King's chamber.
"The pervert has been taken care of. Liliana-san, what shall we do with this room?"
"Burn it. I have no need for clothes that have been touched by Dekira—no, by that pervert."
I asked Liliana-san what we should do with the room while disengaging my sword's barrel. The Demon King? No, the pervert had already been reduced to mere scraps of meat.
"Ah, um..."
"Is something wrong, Yuki-san?"
Yuki-san looked unusually flustered, even in the middle of an operation.
"No, aren't you going to ask the Demon King anything?"
"Eh? There was only a pervert here, wasn't there?"
"Yes, there was only a pervert. I, who was once a Saint, guarantee it. Lia’s actions were not mistaken in the slightest."
"I'm just glad my blade didn't get dirty."
"Come now, Yuki-san, please burn this room clean with your fire magic. For Liliana-san's sake."
Perhaps brought back to his senses by Milly-san’s words, he began the incineration of the room. Now, all that remained was to rescue the peace faction imprisoned in the basement and prepare for the farce that was to follow. I couldn't help much with that, though; I just wanted to wash my sword in the well. After all, this was the sword that had ended the pervert's life—it would be a pity not to clean it properly.
*Why did the Demon King die!!*
*Cause of death: Pervert. Directly: Eating the undergarments. Indirectly: Lia’s Gun-Sword.*
*This report will be filed as part of the operation records, and no objections will be accepted.*
