第252掘:大魔術師出陣 (Part4)
It’s useless. Nothing works.
Ever since that surprise attack, my magic hasn't had any effect at all.
The more I attack, the more I am forced to realize the chasm between myself and this monster.
The raw power difference is absolute.
If there is one thing I have over it, it’s aerial combat.
The opponent is a quadrupedal magical beast; because it isn’t accustomed to fighting in the air, I’ve been able to move with the advantage.
"Hah... hah..."
I have no composure left. I can only desperately dodge, praying not to take a direct hit from the monster.
If I could see my own face right now, I wonder if it’s stained with the same despair as it was back then?
And then, my tightrope walk ends abruptly.
The monster swings down its raised foreleg, slamming me into the ground.
"Gah, guh... *cough*..."
I managed to soften the impact at the last second, but that was all I could do.
My right arm, which took the brunt of the blow, is shattered. The sound of my ribs snapping from the force of the fall echoes in my ears, and I cough up blood—likely from internal injuries.
"*Wheeze*... *wheeze*..."
I notice my breathing has become strange, but my body no longer obeys me.
My consciousness is fading.
...So this is how it ends. In a way, perhaps it’s fitting.
So, I won’t close my blurring eyes. I will keep watching this world until the very end.
"...Ngh!! No...!!"
When I come to, a small girl—one of the ones who came with Eris—is standing before that monster.
Tears well up in my eyes at the sight.
They aren't tears of sorrow because the girl is about to die.
For some reason, the shadow of the person who saved me on that day overlaps with her.
Ah, that’s right. That’s how you saved me, wasn’t it?
To think I could die remembering such happiness...
And with that, my consciousness cut to black.
Side: Aslin
"Honestly, Kuro-chan!! You can't bully the weak!!"
I am very angry right now.
I think it was good of Kuro-chan to come out to try and persuade the Wyvern.
But then, he went and got into a fight with the Principal.
Kuro-chan’s form is scary if you aren’t used to it, so he shouldn't have gotten angry over an attack like that.
"B-but, Princess. This little girl scorched the body that you so kindly brushed for me!?"
"It’s only a tiny bit scorched, isn't it!!"
I say that while casting healing magic on the injured Principal.
...I checked her with a diagnostic spell; it’s quite a serious injury.
If Rurua-oneechan and Elju-oneechan hadn't taught me about medical arts, I might not have been able to save her.
She was in a truly dangerous state.
I need to call Big Brother quickly to have him finish the treatment.
"B-but, to me, it was a grave matter..."
Kuro-chan is still making excuses.
I am absolutely furious.
"Bad boys don't get brushed today!!"
When I say that, Kuro-chan flops his massive body onto his back, assuming a pose of absolute submission...
*Kyuuuuun.*
He whimpers sadly.
But it’s no use. Bad boys need to be punished.
Later, I’m going to give him a lecture along with Wai-chan the Wyvern.
So, here is a simple and easy-to-understand hierarchy.
Aslin >>> Kuro-chan >>> Popuri = Holy Sword User = Guard World > Wyvern
See? Simple, right?
Well, you might have already suspected it, but as you can tell from reading this chapter, the Principal has a connection to the predecessor.
It’s about time to start collecting the flags I’ve been scattering across the New Continent, isn't it?
Well, the protagonist of this New Continent isn't quite strong enough yet, so it’s still a little ways off.
