第265堀:ローデイでの暗躍準備 (Part1)
### Chapter 265: Preparing for Covert Operations in Roday
**Side: Yuki**
……For now, I’ll just forget about that incident from yesterday.
Yes, complete memory erasure.
I’ll seal that data away somewhere, too. It would look suspicious if I just deleted it entirely, after all.
To be honest, I’d love to wipe it from existence, but I highly doubt that’s the only copy. If I delete it carelessly, it’ll likely be leaked later in a more sophisticated way.
If that happens, I’m confident I’ll become a shut-in for the rest of my life.
Wait, no, stop that.
Today, now that the greetings are out of the way, I need to find a base of operations in earnest to make traveling to and from Roday easier.
On top of that, if we don’t toss those captured Holy Sword Users into a dungeon with perfect security, we won’t be able to sleep soundly.
Well, it seems Aslin’s Ten Demon Beasts are keeping watch without sleeping, but it’s unreasonable to ask that of them forever.
It’s not that they *can’t* do it, but there will inevitably be a lapse in their vigilance.
If they were to escape by some chance, the Holy Sword Users would avoid any behavior that might lead us to them and instead operate quietly in the shadows.
Their grand, flashy activities up until now stemmed from their baseless confidence that they were second to none. Now that they know about us—an anomaly—they’ll surely switch to tactics that are harder to track.
If that happens, it’ll be a massive headache for us to hunt them down, so I absolutely want to avoid that.
Therefore, securing a base is a top priority.
"That’s the situation. I’m going to go talk to the Duke and find us a base."
I told this to my four guards—including Samantha—and the members assigned to guarding Amanda and monitoring the Holy Sword Users.
"Understood. Leave things here to us. Though, there isn’t much to do anyway," Deryu said with a shrug.
There hadn’t been any combat with the Holy Sword Users, so I suppose Deryu is feeling a bit unfulfilled.
"Deryu, I understand how you feel, but peace is the best outcome. Why not use this opportunity to teach Amanda a few things? It’ll be a problem if she isn’t strong herself. I’m here too, so you don’t have to worry about healing."
With Rurua around, training shouldn't be an issue. As long as no one dies instantly, that is.
Well, as Rurua said, if Amanda remains weak, that’s a problem in its own right.
In the worst-case scenario, the country might strip her of her Wyvern and relegate her to being a breeder—or rather, a caretaker.
……Though if they did that, the country would likely be destroyed. Mostly because of Wai-chan.
"……That’s true. Amanda, if you’re motivated, I can train you. What do you think?"
"Eh? Me?"
"Yes. As you are now, there’s a possibility that only your Wyvern will be taken away. It’s impossible in reality, but if people think you’re weak, more idiots will try to pull stupid stunts. Do you have the strength to brush them off right now?"
Eris must have reached the same conclusion as me, as she suggested training to Amanda.
It’s not something that will stick if you force it, though.
Half-baked resolve is just a recipe for injury.
"……I suppose I could manage some magic."
"Magic alone won’t be enough. At worst, you could be ambushed and pinned down by several large men. Could you handle that?"
"……I couldn’t. But, will I actually improve if you teach me?"
"That depends on your motivation, but Deryu and Rurua are more skilled in certain areas than I am. By the way, the same goes for the four girls you’ve been doting on."
"Feh!? Even Aslin-chan and the others?"
"“Hmph!”"
Aslin and Firia puffed out their chests.
It’s not wrong, but they aren’t exactly proficient enough to be teaching others.
Well, the moment I thought that, Labyris and Shera dropped a knuckle on their heads.
*Bonk.*
It was light, but they both clutched their heads, letting out a "Fumyu" sound.
"Honestly, no. You couldn't teach the others at school like that, could you?"
"Exactly. It’s a good thing the injuries weren't serious, but you could have caused a major accident. You shouldn't make promises you can't keep."
"“We’re sooorry.”"
The two of them are top performers at the Weed school.
Of course, I’d taught them things even before the school was built.
But when Curse held a magic class, they were asked to assist students who were struggling with mana control. The two of them, full of enthusiasm, tried to help—but to solve the problem of poor mana control, they simply dumped a massive amount of mana into the students.
To put it simply, it was like trying to light a campfire, seeing that the fire wouldn't grow, and handing the student a stick of dynamite.
As you can imagine, the result was a massive failure. The students, unable to control the excess mana they were given, caused an explosion.
It didn't lead to a catastrophe, but some students suffered minor burns, and it was such an incident that Rurua and Elju had to fly over to the school.
For me and Curse, it was a good lesson for the students on the dangers of magical backlash, and it highlighted that Aslin and Firia’s senses were still quite childish, but naturally, my wives were quite angry.
Because of that, the incident was officially handled as a "mana explosion due to inexperienced magic," but I made sure the two of them knew the root cause was their excessive mana transfer. Since then, they haven't been allowed to act as instructors or assistants.
Even in combat training, these two are primarily trained by the likes of Seraria and Deryu—people in the top three of Weed—so their level is far from "general."
Also, in terms of personal skills, Aslin has her Tamer skills and Firia has her Blacksmithing skills, but teaching those is even harder.
In these specific personal skills, no one in our inner circle can keep up with them.
So, there’s nothing they can really teach, and if they push it and make reckless promises, it could lead to trouble later.
That’s why I’m a bit strict with them, to keep them from getting caught up in accidents.
Eris’s comment just now was simply stating that they are stronger than Amanda, but I don't want Amanda thinking she can secretly get lessons from them.
Amanda’s strength doesn't reach Samantha’s level, but she can perform non-chant magic.
Aslin and Firia, knowing that, might try to teach her magic that they consider low-power and inconvenient, or grand magic that they themselves can't use—without even knowing what the "general" level is.
Well, right now, Seraria, as well as Tori, Riel, and Mauve—who were adventurers—are teaching her that general level.
"Well, while Aslin and the others are more skilled than you, Amanda, they are still children. Don't even think about asking them for secret lessons. You’ll be blown to bits."
Oh, Eris hammered the point home, too.
"Y-yes."
Amanda seemed to realize they couldn't hold back, nodding her head vigorously.
Everything looks fine here, so I suppose we’ll go talk to the Duke about the base.
"I’ll leave things here to you all. Keep the training moderate."
"Yes. Be careful."
"Understood. Leave it to me."
"Please take care, Husband."
"Big Brother, bring me a souvenir!!"
"Brother, me too!!"
"Oh, you two. Ah, I’d like some sweets."
"……What about you, Shera? I’d like a hair ornament."
