"It’s simply because I want to spend my days in peace. But even if I have a plan to clean up the aftermath after persuading her, it doesn't change the fact that I have to persuade Hifi herself, right? Even if I were to knock Hifi down, the citizens wouldn't be satisfied."
"That's right. That's the biggest problem. It's not as simple as just blowing Hifi away and calling it a day. Even if we force the issue, we won't be able to escape this state of war. We truly need to talk to Hifi and convince her. Well, it’s not like I don't have a solution, though..."
As Luna muttered this, the wives looked at her with expectant eyes.
However, I knew exactly what Luna was getting at, so I couldn't feel any anticipation at all.
If anything, my eyes were dead right now.
"You really are quick on the uptake, aren't you? I can't take sides. With that in mind, the way to persuade the current Hifi is to prove with your own body that your methods surpass hers. I’ll act as the observer."
"W-wait a minute, Luna. The way you put that..."
Seraria, looking at Luna with an expression of disbelief, tried to ask for more details.
"That's right. Just as Seraria suspected. Fight Hifi and take her down. I told you the time had just been moved up, didn't I? Even on the Weed continent, there are countries run by gods just like Hifi. They’re tiny, tiny nations, of course. Naturally, they aren't part of the Dungeon Trade Treaty. They don't recognize the dungeon method either. Eventually, we’ll clash with them, too. Just think of it as taking down a god a little earlier than planned."
"T-that’s reckless. We have certainly been empowered under Yuki's guidance. But with just that level of strength..."
"Deryu. If you can't even take down a god who opposes solving the world's mana depletion problem, what do you intend to do from here on out? Are you still a Demon Lord who spits at the heavens?"
"Well, in my case, it was more of an unavoidable circumstance..."
"Humans have taken down mid-level gods in this world before. And if Yuki and the others can defeat Hifi without my help this time, those pathetic gods who are dealing with mana depletion on their own might actually listen to reason."
*Sigh*, so that’s how it is.
Well, I am the most recent arrival when it comes to dealing with mana depletion.
The predecessors aren't exactly going to be happy to see a newcomer like me making waves.
After all, I’m just a human brought in by Luna, their successor-level superior.
I had figured we’d clash in that regard eventually, but...
"We have high expectations for you, Yuki. I’m not saying you have to fight, of course. But in that case, you’ll have to withdraw from the New Continent."
"However, if that happens, my Zilba, as well as Roday, August, and the others will..."
"Well, with Hifi's current momentum, none of the existing countries will remain."
At Luna's words, Jessica, Cleena, and Samantha, who were from the New Continent, were stunned.
"Don't go bullying my wives, you useless goddess. Nobody said we weren't going to fight."
"Ha! That’s rich coming from the coward who didn't agree to take her down in two seconds flat."
And so, the next step is a direct confrontation with Hifi...
Is there really no way to talk her into this?
Well, it’s a situation where I have no choice but to demonstrate my strength.
Everything is being dumped on Yuki.
However, in a sense, Luna was having things dumped on her, too.
Now, this might sound like a complicated story, but from Yuki's perspective, it’s actually quite simple.
Usually, for the sake of their respective claims and what they cannot yield, a heated, intense battle would unfold over the course of ten weeks.
However, those who have noticed the most important part of this story should realize that Yuki has a perfectly valid reason to blow both of their arguments away.
Don't expect a cool ending.
Anyone who has read this far should have already guessed it: those who carry the most grandiose reasons are nothing more than comic relief to Yuki!!
