第375堀:第一印象 (Part2)

第375堀:第一印象 (Part2)

Aside from the Mauve members, the Dullahan Assassins are currently infiltrating the city independently. Kirika is operating as a ninja, while the others are disguised as merchants and tourists to gather intelligence. They are primarily working to corroborate the information collected by the Mauve team.

Furthermore, Kirika’s subordinates are currently tracking the individual who stole the Dungeon Core in White Forest; they are expected to arrive in about five days.

As for Steve’s unit, they have already finished scouting the ruins around the Ex Royal Capital. They are currently in a state of readiness, planning to conduct their infiltration survey in coordination with the movements of Popuri and her group.

Regarding the swarm of undead encountered by Mauve and the others, the area was thoroughly investigated, but no evidence was found to prove they were wild monsters, nor were there any traces of their origin. The report suggests that someone likely prepared them and set them upon the group.

As for Princess Dressa, she is currently enjoying Weed alongside Labyris and the others. Since stimulating her unnecessarily could lead to instability, I would like Eris and Deryu to take the lead regarding Arne.

These are the reports that have been submitted.

"It seems there are no particular problems for now."

"That’s true. Or rather, tomorrow is when the real work begins. While Popuri-san and King Noble are holding their talks and doing various things, it remains to be seen how much information we and Steve’s group can gather."

"I still think it’s a bit much that I’m the decoy, but I suppose it’s what you’d call 'effective utilization'."

"That's right. Just putting you to good use. It’s a give-and-take relationship. However..."

Yuki-san looked deep in thought, and I couldn't help but feel concerned.

"Is something worrying you?"

"No, I’m the one who spearheaded this, so it feels strange to say... but..."

"But what? What is it?"

"It feels like there’s no resistance. It’s almost too quiet, which is actually frightening. Until now, the opponent’s actions were always transparent. This time, it’s a blind leap. Well, it was the same with Hifie and Alfin, but the scale is much larger this time."

Yuki-san is anxious as well.

No, perhaps because he is the one giving the orders, he must be the most anxious and burdened of us all.

If it were Yuki-san being sent to the front lines, I would surely be worried sick myself.

"There’s no point in worrying, though. Well, if an unforeseen situation arises, contact us. If it’s beyond your control, get back here immediately."

"Yes. Understood."

"Understood. We won't push ourselves."

"I know. I don't intend to die."

Let’s keep our wits sharp tomorrow and spend the day ready to respond to any situation that may arise.

Side: Noble de Ex, Kingdom of Ex, Hegemon, God of War (by the standards of this world)

Popuri-dono arrived earlier than scheduled, so my work was pushed back until late into the night.

Honestly, I seem to have underestimated the Dragon Knights.

It seems there is still much for me to learn in various respects.

If only I could incorporate the Dragon Knights into my forces someday...

As I was thinking this, the Chancellor at my side spoke up.

"Your Majesty, do you truly intend to show your inventions to the Principal of the Magic Academy?"

His face clearly betrayed his anxiety.

"Not all of them, just as originally planned. Are you still worried?"

"Yes. Those inventions are the treasures of our nation, the very things that will lead Your Majesty to become the Hegemon. Showing them to the continent’s foremost authority on magic could lead to a massive loss and hinder Your Majesty’s path of conquest."

"...I understand your concern, Chancellor. However, I do not yet know the Principal’s true capabilities. I told you I plan to show her things that are not our primary inventions to gauge her, and I suspect she will eventually side with us."

"Are you referring to your friend, Your Majesty?"

"Yes. They are on their way here as well. Well, if the Principal decides to take any action before then, I can simply dispose of her. If I cannot even handle one Principal, then dreaming of conquering the continent is nothing more than a pipe dream."

"...Indeed. I spoke out of turn."

"It is fine. I understand your sentiment. Now, what of the Principal and her group?"

"Yes. They have already returned to their guest rooms and seem to be holding a discussion before retiring."

"A discussion?"

"Yes. Or rather, a report on their surveillance. Their voices are leaking quite clearly through the door, so the content of their conversation is entirely audible."

"What do you mean?"

"They are practicing etiquette for the Dragon Knight-dono. It seems they are asking our knights for help with the practice. Well, they are young, after all."

"I see. Fufu, young people have it tough everywhere. Being swayed by the schemes of the elderly."

"Indeed, Your Majesty."

Now then, I must finish my work quickly and conduct myself with the poise and demeanor expected of a role model for the youth.

Ah, how busy I am.
