第427堀:おまえは何を言っているんだ (Part1)

**Chapter 427: What Are You Even Saying?**

**Side: Yuki**

Well, after safely protecting Vilia and the others, we returned to the Adventurer’s Guild, but...

*BOOM!!*

For some reason, a loud explosion echoed, and a middle-aged man came flying out of the guild entrance. He slammed into the wall on the opposite side and finally came to a stop.

However, even in this situation, the people in the Adventurer District didn’t seem particularly fazed.

"Did someone mess with the guild reception again?"

"We’ve had a lot of adventurers coming in from out of town lately. I guess they don't know the rules."

"Oh, look, the Goblin squad is here."

Before I knew it, the man slumped against the wall was surrounded by Steve and his team, who were loading him onto a stretcher. I guess it was his shift today. I rarely see Steve working outside of military operations, so I just stood there and watched the situation unfold.

"Sigh, this again? Well, he’s still breathing, so let’s get this idiot to the infirmary. The wall doesn't seem to have any damage. Alright, I’m going to head into the guild to ask what happened."

Steve said that and walked into the guild.

"It happens quite often, you know. Idiots hitting on the receptionists, or trying to force female adventurers into parties they don't want to join."

"That’s true. The senior female adventurers have warned us to be careful."

"They told us to be extra cautious because we’re so cute. *Nufu~*. Hiiro is cute."

"Is that so?"

I mean, I won't deny that you’re cute, but I’m pretty sure anyone who tries to mess with you is either a complete moron or just a total creep.

"Anyway, let’s go and make our report, too."

"You're right. Those idiots are probably saying all sorts of nonsense right now."

"Yes. If we don't stop them soon, they might paint us as the villains. That would be too unfair."

"Hiiro and the others aren't bad. We even have proof."

On the way here, I heard that those adventurers were hired by a minister from Roschur and were plotting something. Vilia and the others happened to overhear them while cleaning, which led to them being attacked. I intend to listen to the recording inside the guild, so I don't know the specific details yet. I couldn't exactly listen to it out in the open, after all.

Well, it’s a hassle regardless, but I’d really prefer they didn't get involved with our main business.

Thinking about that, I entered the guild and saw a receptionist standing tall, holding a hammer and resting it on the floor. I see. So *she* was the one who kicked that adventurer out.

According to what I heard from Rock, guild staff are generally divided into two types: those who were former adventurers, and those who are experts in administrative work.

The former-adventurer staff members usually turned to this line of work because they couldn't continue adventuring for one reason or another. For this type, physical strength is paramount. They are there to protect the receptionists and other staff from idiots who try to hit on them, or fools who come in to complain or make threats. Naturally, to protect others, they need significant combat prowess—reportedly at least enough to take down a bandit group. The receptionist with the hammer must be at that level. A rookie or someone who can only take down a few low-level monsters wouldn't stand a chance against her. (And yes, they can do math, too! You can't work the reception desk without that.)

The second type, the administrative experts, are exactly what they sound like: they are fast with calculations, skilled at paperwork, and capable of judging the quality of monster materials. They work behind the scenes, not at the front desk. Well, that’s irrelevant right now, so I’ll skip it.

"Haa... Haa..."

"Er, um, so, what happened today?"

The receptionist with the hammer was blushing and breathing heavily. I think Milly introduced her to me before... Nanna, was it? She seemed incredibly furious. Asking a woman in that state what caused the incident is something I’d rather pass on, but for the sake of improving public order—and to ensure the receptionist isn't accused of using excessive force—we need to grasp the situation properly.

So, Steve, do your best!

"Boss Steve, Miss Nanna didn't do anything wrong. The idiot got rejected and started calling her fat and ugly."

"Yeah, exactly. He deserved what he got. In the end, he didn't know his place and tried to grab her arm to drag her out. Does he even know what rank Miss Nanna is?"

Whoa, I thought it was just a minor dispute, but this is pretty serious. That’s basically attempted assault. If the wives heard about this, he might be facing execution.

I honestly don't see how anyone could call Nanna fat or ugly. She has a figure comparable to Milly’s, and since she used to be an adventurer, she has a very sleek, athletic build. He probably just lashed out because he was frustrated that she wasn't interested in him.

"I see. But with something like that happening, didn't the Guild Master or the Vice Master come out?"

"Ah, it seems both of them are busy dealing with some big shots from Roschur who just arrived. The visitors were apparently quite angry."

"I see."

Wait, are these the idiots Vilia and the others were talking about? That explains why they weren't at the reception desk. They must have already gone to the private rooms upstairs.

"Let's stop watching here. It sounds like those idiots are upstairs."

"Yes, understood."

"Got it!"

"And those idiots... I won't forgive them."

Before heading upstairs, I called out to Steve and Nanna.

"Steve, I’m going to deal with those big shots from Roschur, so don't worry about this side."

"Ah, yes, sir. I’ll leave it to you."

"Nanna, that was a rough experience."

"Ah, Yuki-san. Sorry for the commotion..."

She looked a bit down. Well, that’s natural since she caused a scene.

"No, I’m just glad you’re safe, Nanna. Besides, if you had been dragged away without resisting, Milly probably would have gone on a rampage. You made the right call."

"Ah, I suppose you're right. Representative Milly would definitely do that."

"Exactly. In that sense, you saved lives, so don't worry about it too much. If there’s any trouble, just talk to Milly or me."

"Yes. Thank you very much."

I confirmed she was smiling again and headed upstairs. If I don't follow up on things like this, Weed’s reputation will suffer. You have to build it up, one small step at a time.

"By the way, Ria, Cleena, did you arrange for the room with those idiots?"

"We’ve contacted Jessica and have her looking into it."

"Mm. No oversights."

Then it should be fine. Even if they are released due to insufficient evidence, they won't be able to destroy the proof. As I confirmed that, I approached the Guild Master’s room and heard shouting from inside.

*"You! Why are you listening so leisurely?!"*

*"Well, even if you say that..."*
