### Chapter 483: Miscalculations and the Start of a Classic Scenario

*Sigh.* Well, at least everyone is safe. It would have been a disaster if we’d been scattered to the winds, but I’d taken precautions against that. I’m glad I was prepared.
However, the problem this time was our own preparation. You could say this whole mess started when I asked Luna to "restrict any further intervention from other worlds."
These people had pinpointed their target in their desperation: a powerful otherworldly being—or rather, a Japanese person. But that was never going to succeed because Luna was blocking it.
However, there was a loophole.
The summoning system works by finding someone with the necessary abilities and bringing them to the summoner. Simply put, it uses two types of magic: a "Search" to locate the target, and "Transfer" magic to bring them over.
At first glance, you might think, *that sounds easy enough*, but the range is the problem. It’s an "other world"—another planet. Even on Earth, we’ve identified planets that might harbor life, but we haven't found any with intelligent life yet. To cast a search across that vast, expansive universe and then use a transfer spell to pull a target from hundreds of millions of light-years away? It’s obvious that it would require immense precision and consume a staggering amount of magic. If it were easy, this world would be overflowing with people from other worlds by now.
Well, eventually, as analysis progresses, simplification and cost-reduction will likely be achieved, but that’s a story for the future. There’s no reason to allocate a budget for such things right now. Any sane person would recognize that doing so is a recipe for war.
Given all that, Kagura—the one who decided that if she couldn't summon from another world, she’d limit it to *this* world—searched for a hero who could break the current deadlock, and the result was me.
Man, the fact that the Spirit Priestess and my beastman wives were included in the summoning probably had something to do with it, too. Honestly, I didn't think I’d get hit by a skill-magic-nullification area, but the output was likely so high that the nullification couldn't keep up. After all, it was output meant to pull someone from another world.
"Sigh. To think I’d get summoned again after coming here... I thought that kind of thing was Taiki-kun’s job."
"That’s true. Taiki is the Hero, after all. But if it wasn't for us, you probably wouldn't be able to go back, would you?"
"I suppose so."
As Labyris said, there is a silver lining to it being us. If it had been Taiki-kun or Taizo-san, they would have gone missing without a clue as to what happened. In that case, his wife Airi-san or Hifi would have surely gone off the deep end. Fortunately, I have my Dungeon Master abilities and my connection to that useless goddess, so I don't have to worry about that.
Though, I’d rather avoid asking Luna for help unless it’s a dire emergency.
"So, how are Milly and the others?"
"They’re resting in their rooms for now. The babies seem to be doing just fine."
"I see. We didn't know how the transfer would affect pregnant women. That’s a relief."
"Shuten, Sakura, and Schans are doing fine for now, too. They seem happy to be in their new home."
"...Shuten aside, make sure you never take your eyes off Sakura and Schans, okay?"
"I know. But we’re in danger too, you know? We’re all in our physical bodies."
That’s right. We weren't summoned as Doppelgangers; our true bodies were brought here. The level of danger is different from anything we’ve faced before. That’s exactly why I deployed a dungeon with heavy defenses, but...
"To think we’d run out of DP..."
"Yeah. A 5,000x multiplier is just insane."
"..."
Labyris and I sighed as we stared at the error message displayed before us.
*DP Insufficient. Please work harder to earn more. Woof!!*
It’s infuriating. I’ve never had a DP shortage before, and I never tried to order anything beyond my means. If there were a system where you could go into debt to order items, the penalty would surely be that you couldn't use DP for a while. But this incident taught me that if you don't have enough DP, you just can't order things.
The cause was the price gouging—not 20 times the cost of the New Continent, but 5,000 times. Because of that, the modern defensive facilities remained uninstalled. The dungeon is currently limited to classic traps and magical defensive functions. It seems this template deployment system prioritizes installing things that don't cost DP first. ...That, at least, is a stroke of luck.
The core I had contained about 1 billion DP. That sounds like a lot, but modern weapons generally cost over 10 million DP. At a 5,000x multiplier, that’s a minimum of 50 billion DP. Even a 10,000 DP gate costs 50 million DP here. Usually, I’d check the DP consumption, but given the situation, I must have been in a hurry.
"Labyris, how’s the anti-army dungeon?"
"That one is basically just wide open, so it’s not a problem. It’s not meant for modern weapons, but for capturing the enemy."
"I see. Is there any chance we can do something about it by morning?"
"Maybe. But the problem is that even if we scrape together everyone’s DP, we won't reach 50 million."
Exactly. We never expected such an absurd multiplier, so both my core and Labyris’s core are bone dry. We had the wives chip in their personal pocket-money DP, but that only amounted to about 5 million per person at most. It was painful to take from Aslin and the others, but it couldn't be helped. Still, that was only nine people. Shuten, the children, Dressa, Vilia, and Hiiro don't have cores. With 5 million each, the total is around 30 million. And that was almost entirely wiped out just to order the bare essentials.
But that revealed another problem.
"What’s going on with not being able to summon monsters?"
"Who knows? It just says 'Error'."
For some reason, monster summoning was disabled. It gives an error saying the solidification of magic power failed. It’s not that I don't have enough DP because the cost is high; it’s that the monsters themselves are blocked.
"...Does this have anything to do with the rumors that monsters have disappeared?"
"Maybe? For now, we can't get reinforcements without opening the gates, so we have to find a way to get DP. Honestly, Seraria and Ratz are furious. Their own daughters, Sakura and Schans, and their husband Yuki were kidnapped."
"Ah, I suppose so. By the way, what’s the situation over there?"
"I’ve informed them. They’re already holding a meeting with Luna, Taizo, and Taiki. Apparently, Luna’s power is being obstructed here... I heard Jessica was crying her eyes out."
"At least things seem manageable over there. ...I feel bad for Jessica."
"She was told she couldn't jump into that situation. Jessica is a guard, and she was a knight originally, so I heard she’s bedridden now."
"...I’ll make it up to her later."
"That would be for the best."
As Labyris and I were talking, Cleena and Samantha returned. To confirm the 5,000x magic efficiency, I had them go outside the dungeon—to the place where we were first summoned—and fire off some magic. We brought the hostage, Kagura, with us just in case. The Princess stayed behind because she got into an argument with Cleena; she’d likely end up as a charred corpse if she came with us.
"Yuki. Reporting. The result is that our magic has no restrictions."
"Yes. As Cleena-san said, our magic wasn't subjected to a 5,000x load."
"Skills are usable, too."
"Yes. We didn't experience anything like Taizo-san’s nullification."
"I see. Thank you."
...If that’s the case, it must be related to Luna’s power being obstructed. Well, the result isn't bad. Now we know we can annihilate them with long-range magic. And there’s no change to our physical abilities, either. Things are looking manageable on this end, too.
"...Sorry to interrupt your thinking."
As I was pondering this, Kagura, who was wrapped up like a sushi roll, spoke up.
"What is it?"
"For starters, I have absolutely no idea what the situation is."
"We’re in the middle of verifying things."
"...Are you seriously planning to capture us and defeat the enemy, too?"
"We’ve confirmed that we can do both."
When I said that, Kagura sighed with a look of resignation.
"Sigh. It’s not my place to say this as a captive—or rather, I’m the one who summoned you, so I have no right to ask—but if we survive this, please don't do anything terrible to the people of the city. The fault lies with me and the Princess; the people of the city have nothing to do with this..."
Unlike the Princess, Kagura seems to understand that we’re angry, and she’s trying to ensure that the damage doesn't reach the citizens.
