### Chapter 579: Someone is Working Hard Every Day

**Side: Yuki**

It is a refreshing morning.

The sky is clear, the birds are singing, and all is well in the world.

It is truly peaceful and calm, but naturally, activities to protect that peace continue day and night behind the scenes.

"Hey, Eris, Ratz. There’s an opinion that we should split the Adventurer’s Guild into two based on the types of job requests. What do you think?"

"Ah, now that you mention it, I heard something about that."

"I suppose the talks started moving again now that Milly has returned to the front lines. But wasn't the reason the Adventurer’s Guild took on those minor tasks in the first place to improve the public’s impression of adventurers?"

"That was the story, yes. But if that’s the case, we don’t need to split the guild. If you leave it to us—the government offices—we can handle those tasks here. Actually, why is there even talk of splitting it based on job types?"

"Well, there’s this contemptuous attitude from adventurers coming from outside, calling the general work they take in Weed 'not like an adventurer' and just 'pocket money.' At worst, they’re even threatening the people who take on those general jobs."

"So, the attempt to improve their image is actually backfiring."

"That’s why there’s talk of splitting them. But isn't that putting the cart before the horse? And as Eris said, wouldn't it be more helpful for the Adventurer’s Guild if the government collected and processed the general jobs? It sounds like you’re just creating another department, isn't it? Even if you do split them, how would you go about it?"

It’s not just Milly and the others; people are discussing work like this all over the house this morning.

"Let’s see, this document goes here... Riel, the paperwork for the special duty case isn't here."

"Eh? Wait a second, which case? It seems there was quite a lot of work while I was on leave, so there’s a backlog."

"…Riel, the one about the crop thief I asked you about. Your subordinates tried to catch them, but the field got trampled and the damage increased."

"Yeah, that one. I’m missing the apology letter and the report on the damages."

"Ugh!? Did that happen!? That kid... I appreciate the enthusiasm, but still."

"…She’s just like Riel."

"Yeah, she’s the type to charge straight ahead. Poni even gave a bitter smile and said she was just like Riel."

"What’s with the 'bitter smile'!?"

"…You know exactly why. Anyway, let’s find those documents. There’s still a mountain of them."

Tori, Riel, and Kaya had actually been processing paperwork from home even during their maternity leave, but having been away for the past two months, the backlog has piled up.

"So, is it the Weed executive meeting today? The schedule says it’s about intercontinental exchange, right?"

"Yes. Since the If Continent talks were a success the other day, it’s time to push forward with the full-scale intercontinental exchange plans. Lady Alstaire has already requested a meeting."

"I’ve also received requests from my father and brother, so I expect a proposal will be made to discuss holding the Rogari talks."

"Same here. My father says that since the If Continent talks were successful, we need to gather in Rogari for a meeting. Though, I can't just say 'do it yourselves,' can I?"

"…That’s true. It’s not something that can be done without Weed’s involvement. That said, Lady Alstaire always ends up buying lots of cakes and shopping on her way home, doesn't she?"

"…Same here. My brother aside, it seems my father’s real objective lately is just to have a lively time with His Majesty Roschur."

Seraria, Rurua, and Shera are sighing while in the middle of discussing the upcoming meeting that will sway the future of the continents.

"Let’s see, what was on the schedule for today? School?"

"We go to school and study in the morning. I’m worried I might be behind since I’ve been away for so long."

"After that, Catherine asked us to show our faces at Baide. Are you going?"

"I’m going! It’s work, right?"

"That’s right. I believe she said she wanted to hear our thoughts regarding the ordering of arms and armor."

"I need to receive the reports from Baide as well, so I’ll come along."

With Shera busy with intercontinental exchange, Labyris, Aslin, and Firia are currently handling the liaison work for Baide.

Perhaps because they caused such a scene when they were first summoned, there is currently no one in Baide who dares to defy these three.

Labyris has the fake status of being Weed’s Dungeon Master, which gives her a certain standing in Weed, but the official stance is that her position was granted by Seraria and Elju. She operates under Seraria’s orders, so she’s currently reducing her Weed-related duties to focus on coordinating with the New Continent.

In other words, she is acting as the Queen’s proxy in Baide.

Since I’m constantly flying around, I can’t be stationed in Baide permanently.

"…Well, that’s as expected."

"What do you mean by 'as expected'?"

"Jessica?"

"No, I am officially a diplomat from Zilba, after all. I received an order. It said to get along with Weed and, if possible, to seduce Yuki."

"…Well, that is indeed as expected. My instructions from Roday aren't much different, either."

"…Same here. But since I’m already 'seduced,' it’s impossible. Besides, why would I work for August?"

The diplomat group from the If Continent is smiling bitterly at the predictable orders.

The budget provided is quite substantial, so the other side must be serious.

However, the diplomats are likely wondering, *What exactly am I supposed to do with this budget?*

The most obvious use would be bribery, but the budget isn't enough for that.

To seize control of Weed, one would have to suppress more than half of its departments and also capture the Queen, Seraria—an impossible task.

They could try to use the budget to leak technology, but that’s also difficult; technology is only created and operated when knowledge, equipment, and materials all come together.

So, it’s at the level where they really want to ask, "What do you want me to do?"

Well, the intention from the If Continent is probably just to keep us in a good mood.

"Master. What are your plans for today?"

Kirue refills my tea, which had become empty before I noticed. A model maid, as always.

"Ah, today I’m heading to Betan to welcome the Enaria diplomats. Agil is finally coming here."

I thought she would come right after the talks ended, but it seems she stayed in Betan to hold meetings with the King and others within Enaria.

Agil is, after all, on the side of the Royal Family rather than the Enaria Church. There must have been some issues there.

"Master, you just rested, and now you’re off to work again? That’s tough."

Sasari says this while efficiently refilling everyone else’s tea. She’s a model maid as well.

"Well, it’s just welcoming Agil and giving her a light tour of Weed. It’s not that strenuous."

As I answer, Vilia, today’s guard member, speaks up.

"Let’s see, big brother. Is this Agil person the one who was your schoolmate at the Magic Academy?"

"Oh, that’s right. Vilia, Dressa, Hiiro—you guys haven't met her yet, have you?"

"Now that you mention it, that’s true. Well, actually, I’ve known Agil since the time Zilba and Enaria were at war, so I might have known her for as long as Jessica has."

That’s right. As Ria and Deryu say, I’ve known Agil for quite a long time.

"The Magic Sword user, right? I remember the name."

"Hey, Dressa-nee, is that person strong?"

"Who knows? But when I saw her at the talks, she was, how should I put it... not quite at Popuri-san’s level, but she’s a young girl, isn't she?"

"Oh, I feel a sense of kinship. A fellow 'flat-chested' comrade."

*No, Hiiro,* I thought, but as she said, she might actually be right.

Agil should be of a decent age, so perhaps she’s an "eternal loli."

This world is full of mysteries.

"But it’s a shame. Hiiro has plans with Sta-nee today."
