第619堀:完全復活とローテーション (Part1)

Chapter 619: Full Recovery and Rotation

Side: Yuki

Well, we’ve decided on our future plans, but the problem remains: what about the things we’re currently doing?

First, there’s the job of ensuring safety while staying at the Haiden Magic Academy for the international conference.

Second, there’s the task of sharing scientific knowledge while learning the magic of the Haiden Magic Academy. This serves the dual purpose of exchanging and absorbing technology; it’s also a crucial opportunity for people from various countries studying here to learn about Weed.

Those are the broad objectives, and they are certainly not things we can afford to neglect.

I had hoped we could take it easy until the conference was held at the academy, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

We have to divert even more of our limited Weed personnel to the investigation and search for Onock.

"That’s the problem, isn't it?"

"Indeed it is."

The ones agonizing over this are Taizo-san and Taiki-kun.

While they are both collaborators with Weed, one is the Chancellor of the Hifie Holy Kingdom, and the other is the Hero King of the Ranks Kingdom. They can't stay here forever.

"Yuki-kun. For now, don't worry about me. The stability of the Haiden side—or rather, this New Continent—is necessary for the peace of the Rogari and If continents."

"Same here, Yuki-san. Ruth says the connection with this place is important. Besides, thanks to the Gates, coming and going is easy. I’ll head back if things get dire."

"Taiki-kun is right. It would be best for you and your group to focus on the investigation while leaving the academy exchanges and teaching to us. We can't really lend a hand in an investigation that might turn into a long-term expedition."

Indeed, that’s what you call putting the right person in the right place.

"Originally, our purpose was just to tour the academy and interact. It wouldn't be appropriate to drag them into our behind-the-scenes affairs. Besides, we should be able to manage the defense of this academy. Right, Agil-kun?"

"Hmm. Me...? Ah, I suppose 'boku' is fine. I’m already pretty much roped into this by you guys anyway. Honestly, if I went with you, I’d just be dead weight. I’m better suited to maintaining this base."

Agil uses "boku" when off-duty, but as a General, he draws a clear line between public and private matters. Especially after learning that we were high-ranking officials in a nation on the Rogari continent, he switched to "watashi" in public.

Well, leaving that aside, I can't take Agil to places where there’s a risk of clashing with the Assembly of Wisdom or the Haire Church, so his offer is appreciated. It will make ensuring safety much easier.

"In that case, are Amanda and Eoid, who are also from the If continent, staying at the academy?"

"No, I would like you to take those two with you. They are still inexperienced."

"Eh!? W-wait a minute. Isn't the stuff going on behind the scenes supposed to be pretty intense!?"

"Exactly! We don't know the proper etiquette or anything yet; we’ll definitely just be a burden!"

"Even so, wouldn't you be worried if only Kagura-kun, Mikos-kun, and Solo-kun went on the investigation?"

"That’s... true, but..."

"Before that, Yuki-san, what do you think? About us tagging along..."

"Hmm. Honestly, it is a fact that I’m worried about relying solely on the three of them—Kagura and the others—for this matter."

After all, while their defensive capabilities are supplemented by accessories, everything else is just average.

At the same time, it’s difficult to assign my wives as their escorts.

Weed is incredibly busy right now. Led by Seraria, my wives who are civil officials and diplomats are running back and forth due to intercontinental exchanges.

The only wives consistently coming to this academy are Deryu and Ria; the others are in and out due to work. Cleena came to accompany Akiten, but she had to return because she had temporarily handed her duties over to Samantha. Kirue, who came to look after Akiten, also has important work maintaining our home in Weed and caring for the children.

It’s a headache. I only have my own escort wives available.

Labyris, Firia, and Aslin are formidable in terms of combat power, but in places where we lack name recognition, they would actually be a hindrance during investigations or negotiations. They are still children, after all. People would look down on them.

Well, there are places where being children is an advantage, so I plan to have them come when necessary.

As for the remaining "little one"—or rather, the young girl Shera—she is quite busy managing Baide alongside Catherine, in addition to acting as a liaison for Gartz. Incidentally, the three young girls are also helping with the management of Baide, so they aren't exactly free either.

Then there are Vilia, Dressa, and Hiiro. They are technically free, but they haven't been with us long and lack experience. They are only slightly above Amanda and Eoid.

They could serve as escorts, but it’s a problem if there are no Weed personnel at the academy. So, they are staying behind to represent Weed, assist Taizo-san and Taiki-kun, and in Hiiro’s case, act as a sister figure to Princess Stasia of Findall.

That’s exactly why I asked Taiki-kun, Amanda, and Eoid for reinforcements.

So, when we investigate the town of Onock, the core of the team will be Kagura, Mikos, and Solo.

I’ll act as the Commander-in-Chief, only stepping into the field when I’ve grasped the situation and it’s time to deliver the finishing blow.

...Even if this New Continent is the priority, I have work in Weed, applications for supplies for our New Continent base, and a mountain of other things to deal with.

"But in that case, isn't it too dangerous for Kagura and the others to do the field investigation? Even if Steve and the others provide support from the rear, there’s a limit, right?"

"Well, yeah..."

"I’m worried about not having Yuki-dono’s wives there..."

Even Popuri seems worried without an escort from the Weed side. Well, that’s only natural.

Since there are no Weed personnel to set the policy, if something goes wrong, they could be held responsible, which would be a disastrous failure for Amanda and Eoid.

Normally, I would attach at least one of my wives to ensure safety as a leader, but since Deryu and Ria are the bare minimum for my own protection, it’s forbidden for them to leave my side.

...It’s been decided that I must have at least two escorts. That’s because I used to sneak off alone whenever they went to the bathroom or similar places.

"..." "..." "..."

We just don't have enough people.

Or rather, there are too many people who can't be used in this land.

It would be fine if we could use the monster troops openly, but that would cause a commotion, and magical creatures just vanish in this land, so most of the monster troops are unusable.

Kirika’s Dullahan Assassin unit is at risk of vanishing. It’s painful that my usual intelligence unit is unavailable.

Well, I’ll announce the magic decay phenomenon during the intercontinental exchange, and maybe I can assign the units organized there to these kinds of tasks in the future... No, that won't work. This place is in a state of war before even considering magic research; if we stop the war to investigate, the budget would be astronomical. Or rather, we’d be viewed as a dangerous armed organization.

...*Sigh*, I need a solid plan for the magic research aspect as well.

But that’s a talk for the future. Right now, I have to figure out how to move safely without the personnel to solve the problems right in front of me.

Is there anyone? As I was thinking that...

"We’re here to help, Yuki-san!"

"Hey, you have to knock properly!"

"...Hm? Is everyone troubled by something?"

Riel, Tori, and Kaya walked in energetically.

Of course, they were using magic to hide their beast ears.

"Ah, Riel-san, Tori-san, and even Kaya-san! It’s been so long!"

"It’s been a while."

"Yahoo! Long time no see, Amanda, Eoid."

"It’s good to see you both looking well."

"I’m glad to see you’ve been getting along well since the academy days."
