第787堀:草原で訓練 (Part2)

第787堀:草原で訓練 (Part2)

The electric current from Agil’s magic sword surged through my gauntlet, but I parried it, keeping the damage to a minimum. As Agil stepped in, she lost her footing on the ground that had been softened by Kagura’s magic, leaving her wide open...

"Too bad for you."

"Wait, just—"

*Thud!!*

I landed a clean, satisfying strike to her face, and Agil went down. With that, the morning training session concluded, and we headed for lunch.

"That last one was a shame," I remarked.

"What are you talking about? After hitting me that cleanly? Any way you look at it, that was a trap. *Nom.*"

Agil said this while stuffing an onigiri into her mouth, her nose still red.

"Honestly, if it weren't for Aslin-chan’s healing, my cute little nose would still be a bloody mess."

"It was a perfect hit, after all."

She had drawn a beautiful parabola through the air from the force of the blow, tumbled across the ground, and finally skidded to a halt. Honestly, I thought I might have overdone it. But she was a general and a master of the magic sword—a true veteran. She was perfectly fine. Her toughness is truly something to behold.

"Still, Yuki came rushing over in such a panic, it was hard to hide my face."

"Indeed. Yuki really needs to understand women’s feelings a bit better."

"I agree. I understand he was worried, but he could be a bit more... tactful."

"Eh? You can’t tell me not to worry after seeing someone go flying like that, right? Right, Milly, Kirue, Sasari?"

"Well, you see, there are things women want to protect even at the cost of their lives."

"As Milly-sama says. I understand that you were worried because Agil-sama went flying, Master, but she stood up on her own and said she was fine, so you should have picked up on that."

"Exactly. It would be one thing if she stayed down, but she refused the help."

As for me, I wouldn't have minded being seen with a bloody nose at this point, but I suppose Agil had her own reasons.

"Agil-oneechan was more seriously hurt than I thought. You have to be more careful," Aslin chimed in.

"That’s right. When I checked on her with Aslin, it was dangerous. She had a broken bone. If things had gone poorly, she could have lost her sight. I was on the verge of asking Brother for help. Deryu-neesama, you need to hold back more."

"Mm. Honestly, I’m sorry. That coordination was actually quite skillful."

It made me put a bit too much into it. As I said that, Princess Carrie and the others spoke up.

"I’m glad. I was breaking into a cold sweat thinking people might say Agil-shogun was injured because of a lack of support from Kagura and the others."

"It could easily have turned into a diplomatic incident. Though, I wanted to participate too."

Ah, I suppose it could have become a diplomatic issue. Though I doubt Agil would have made a fuss over something like that. As I was thinking this, Enora spoke up...

"What are you saying, Princess Stacia? Participating in that...? But that movement was amazing. I can't believe you reacted to that."

"No, I didn't react at all; I just got beaten to a pulp."

"Yeah, yeah. Micos-chan was doing her best just firing magic from the back."

"I went flying. And honestly, I can't even imagine being able to cave in the ground with a fist."

Actually, Yuki does the pitfall thing quite often. Not with his fists, though. While we were chatting, Yuki began talking to Princess Carrie.

"But, Princess Carrie. Is it really okay to be training so leisurely like this?"

"Yes. It is fine. They think they can look down on us because they were told we were just monitors. They never learn. I won't say it's because they are from the countryside, but perhaps the customs of male chauvinism are stronger in rural areas. By showing them this training, they won't dare to lay a hand on us."

"I see. You're showing them reality."

"Yuki-sama and your group's strength is beyond imagination. I thought it would be difficult to make them understand just by telling them, so I chose this method. Please forgive me."

I see. Indeed, no one would believe in Yuki’s strength just by hearing about it. But I feel a bit bothered that I’m being used so effectively by Princess Carrie. Even if it is for the stability of the New Continent...

"No, no, I wanted to move my body too. In that case, should we train even more?"

"Yes. Please."

"That’s that. From now on, we’re training to our hearts' content."

"Yes. Training to our hearts' content... eh?"

"Alright. Let’s train seriously, too. I don't want to get injured in a real fight."

He’s the same as ever. I see, so the plan is to train with all our might to firmly establish Weed’s position.

"Yeah, let’s go all out!!"

"Aslin isn't very good at combat, so I will train properly."

"That’s right. Let’s do our best, everyone."

"Yes, indeed."

"Eh, wait a minute..."

There was no way Yuki would just be used and let it end there. Well, if you don't train properly, it won't do you any good. And so, alongside those working, we held a training session disguised as a picnic. Well, the real thing starts now. Since I was told to do it, I have to give it my all, right?
