落とし穴149堀:夏の怪談リバイバル 気が付けば廃旅館 (Part1)

**Pit 149: Summer Ghost Story Revival - Realizing I'm in an Abandoned Inn**

Side: Yuki

"Yuki-san. Taizou-san. Please wake up. Something strange is happening."

I opened my eyes at Taiki-kun’s voice and sat up, only to find...

"Hmm? Wait, what is this?"

I realized I was in a dilapidated, run-down room that looked like it would be bad for one's health just to be in.

"What is it? Hmm? Where are we?"

Taizou-san seemed to have sensed the anomaly just as I had, and was looking around the area with a bewildered expression. I followed suit, scanning the room to assess our situation. At a glance, the layout was no different from the large room we had checked into, save for the fact that everything was falling apart.

Seeing that Taizou-san and I were both observing the room, Taiki-kun seemed relieved.

"So, you both see it too? The room looks completely ruined, right?"

"Yeah, that’s right. It looks like a wreck. Taizou-san?"

"Likewise. It looks like a ruin to me as well."

It seemed I wasn't the only one seeing the room in this state.

"First, let's check our belongings. The PC that was on the table is gone."

"Ah!? It's gone!!"

Indeed, the gaming PC that should have been on the table had vanished without a trace. Not only that, but there wasn't even a sign of the snacks or drinks we had brought.

"Our luggage is nowhere to be found either. If that's the case, we have to assume we've been moved to a different location..."

"Is there anyone capable of doing something like this? Well, I suppose a certain goddess could pull it off."

At Taiki-kun’s words, I involuntarily thought of that useless, good-for-nothing goddess I had been trying to keep out of my mind. Among my acquaintances, she was the only one who would pull such a ridiculous stunt. She had a long history of incidents involving paranormal phenomena, after all.

Taizou-san seemed to have reached the same conclusion.

"Indeed, Luna-san is the only one capable of such a feat."

It seemed we were all on the same page. Which meant...

"Doesn't this mean we won't be able to get out easily?"

"Probably."

"She’s certainly capable of doing this..."

If that prank-loving goddess was behind this, she wouldn't let us escape so easily. She would definitely throw all sorts of impossible demands at us. Still, what were we supposed to do in this situation? If we just sat here, our vacation would be wasted. We had to find a way out.

"For now, let's search the room and see if we can find anything useful."

"Understood."

"Since all our gear is gone, anything we find would be a help."

We searched the room, but all we found were...

"A set of moldy futons and a teacup, I suppose. There’s a box of matches, but I wonder if these even work?"

Everything was so rotten it was no exaggeration to call it debris. I picked up the only potentially useful item, the matches...

*Scritch, scritch, snap!*

"Yuki-san, aren't you using too much force?"

"My bad. They aren't lighting. Taizou-san, can you get them to work?"

"Let me try."

Taizou-san was better suited for this than Taiki-kun or me. It was better to leave it to him than for me to get frustrated and snap every match in the box. Taizou-san took the box, pulled out a match, and...

*Scritch, scritch, fwoosh.*

" "Oh, it lit." "

As expected of Taizou-san. He was skilled at handling such things. However, Taizou-san, who had lit the match, wore a troubled expression.

"That was just a stroke of luck. They're quite damp, and I just happened to get a good one. I wouldn't be able to light the ones you were trying, Yuki-kun."

It seemed the condition of the matches was indeed terrible. It wasn't that I was incompetent; it was just that nothing in this room was in working order.

"If we could dry them out in the sun somewhere, they might recover, but in this situation, there’s no place to lay them out. That reminds me, what’s it like outside? Can we see the courtyard through the window?"

I turned toward the window facing the courtyard, but it had been firmly boarded up with wooden planks, making it impossible to see what was on the other side.

"They really put some effort into sealing this place. There isn't even a gap. And without tools, we can't even break it down..."

"Tools... come to think of it, can't we use our Item Boxes?"

Taiki-kun tried his best to access his Item Box, but no tools appeared.

"Huh? It feels... off. Like I can't use it?"

"I have the same sensation. It’s like I can see the drawer, but I can't grab the handle..."

"Well, that useless goddess is involved. She’s likely blocked all magic-based skills."

" "Ah." "

The two of them nodded in agreement. If we had our tools, we would have smashed the wall and left immediately, but that goddess wouldn't allow such an obvious shortcut. *Sigh.* I suppose the "proper" way to do this was to play along with her requests and walk out the front door like a normal person. Still, it was annoying to be trapped and forced to play along.

...First, let's talk it over.

"So, Taiki-kun, Taizou-san. What do we do now? We have no tools, no magic, and the room is a ruin."

"What can we do... I suppose our only option is to get out of here. My calls aren't going through, either."

"Indeed. Sitting here idly won't accomplish anything. If Luna-dono is the one behind this, we won't be able to leave unless we take the initiative. We could try a battle of patience and stay here quietly until she gets bored, but..."

"No, Taizou-san. Waiting in a room this decrepit for a long time is... well. Besides, we have nothing to pass the time, and no food."

"True. As Taiki-kun says, we lack the tools for anything. And I, for one, would rather not resort to drinking toilet water."

"That would be unpleasant."

"I agree."

Our opinions were unanimous. There was no merit in staying here. Instead of waiting for Luna to get bored, we would force our way out.

"Then, let's get moving. But first, do we have anything we can use as a bag?"

We were about to set off on an adventure. With our Item Box skills sealed, we needed a way to carry as much as possible—specifically, a bag.

"No, I don't see anything like that..."

"Wait, in that case..."

Taizou-san interrupted Taiki-kun, who had been about to say there was nothing, and picked up a large piece of cloth that had been lying on the floor.

"Eh? What’s that for? That’s not a bag..."

Taiki-kun didn't seem to understand, but it clicked for me immediately.

"Ah, you’re going to use it as a *furoshiki* (wrapping cloth)."

"Exactly. It’s the wisdom of people from a time before bags existed."

"Furoshiki? Furoshiki, a wrapping cloth!! Ah, that thing!"
