**Pitfall Side Story: Weed Information Magazine**
**Weed Information Magazine**
**Side: Mikos**
"Alright, time to give it my all starting today!"
I, Mikos, pumped myself up.
After all, from this very moment, my long-awaited department was finally springing into action.
"Yes. Let’s do our best, Mikos-sama."
"Indeed. Let’s give it our all."
"I’m counting on you, Kirue-san, Sasari-san."
That’s right—this department has two incredibly reliable members: Kirue-san and Sasari-san.
Though, at a glance, it might look like a department for maids, it’s actually quite different.
The name of this department is...
"Alright, let’s work hard to create the Weed Information Magazine, *Monthly Walk*!"
In short, this is an editorial department. A place to create books.
Moreover, we are publishing a magazine intended for the general public to read widely.
Yuki-sensei originally wanted to create a newspaper, but with our current headcount, producing a daily paper was impossible. Thus, we settled on a monthly information magazine for Weed.
And today is the commemorative first day.
"Now, Editor-in-Chief Mikos. We have been instructed by our Master to assist you, so how shall we proceed?"
"Yes~. We’ve only ever been on the reading side of magazines; we’ve never been on the creating side before~."
The two of them looked to me for instructions.
Honestly, it’s unheard of for a minor baron’s daughter like me to have two maids assigned to her.
What’s more, both are top-tier maids.
Kirue-san is actually Shera’s half-sister—she only lacks a claim to the throne and noble rank—so it’s impossible for a princess’s personal maid to be on equal footing with a frontier baron’s daughter.
And the always-smiling Sasari-san, who serves as Samantha’s maid, originally belonged to the Knight Order. She, too, has a far more impressive background than I do.
No matter how you look at it, I’m the one who should be the subordinate.
"Mikos-sama?"
"Is something the matter?"
"Ah, sorry. It’s just... treating the two of you as subordinates feels a bit..."
I honestly confessed the internal conflict in Mikos-chan’s heart.
Once I revert to my true self, I’m done for. These are people I couldn’t even hold a conversation with unless I’m in "Mikos-chan mode."
But, as expected of maids who have been by Yuki-sensei’s side for years, they handled it gracefully.
"Please, do not concern yourself with such things. If you are worried about our origins, then let us say this: we are friends who share the same husband. There is no problem with being equals. Ah, so please, feel free to address me as 'boku' (me), Sasari."
"Your treatment of me is so rough, Kirue-senpai!"
"My, you are not the Master’s wife, are you? You are undoubtedly just a maid. Therefore, naturally, your standing is lower than Mikos-sama, who is the Master’s wife."
"That’s terrible~! The Master wouldn’t approve of this kind of treatment!"
"I didn’t exactly crack a whip. You seemed to have forgotten, so I simply reminded you of your position."
"Ngh!"
Seeing them engage in their "maid banter," I realized they were just trying to put me at ease.
So, I decided...
"Alright, alright. With that said, I’m counting on you both from here on out."
"Yes. Leave it to us."
"Indeed~. Since I’m also here with the Master, we’re all friends."
And so, I, Mikos-chan, along with these incredibly reliable companions...
"Now, I’d like to decide the contents of the first issue of *Walk*."
That’s right, we can’t write articles without first deciding what the magazine will contain.
"First, regarding the content requested by Yuki-sensei..."
I wrote the list of requested articles on the whiteboard:
* Priority announcements and public relations from the Weed administration.
* Monthly Weed news (It’s fine if it overlaps with the radio).
* Main content: Incidents, accidents, and safety alerts.
* Notable information: Events and things that draw crowds.
* Reader submission column: To allow the general public to get involved with the magazine, we’ll create a section for letters and submissions.
* Seasonal topics are good, but I’ll leave the fine details to you.
* Interviews with famous shops: Food, clothing, weapons—anything goes.
* Interviews with famous people: This will be a selling point for the magazine. We could hold a popularity poll to decide who to interview so we don't miss anyone.
As expected of Yuki-sensei, he explained everything in such detail that it’s a huge help to Mikos-chan.
"I see. If we clear all of these, the magazine’s content will come together."
"Oh? But what about the cover and such? The Master showed me various magazines of that type, and they were all quite elaborate. Who handles that... 'design,' was it?"
"Hmm, for now, Mikos-chan will give it her best shot. If it doesn't work out, I’ll consult Yuki-sensei. Or, Sasari, would you like to try?"
"Ahaha, I don’t have an artistic eye, so I’ll pass."
"I see, I see. So the Master is saying we should try it ourselves first."
"Yeah, it seems so. He said since it’s a magazine we’re making ourselves, he won’t interfere or meddle too much."
Yes, yes. He really is the best husband for understanding how Mikos-chan and the others feel.
"Then, we just need to create it while keeping these requirements in mind."
"We have sample magazines, so it seems simple enough~."
"Yeah. Mikos-chan wrote one-shot articles back at school, so I have a little experience; I think we can do it. Besides, in Weed, articles don’t have to be handwritten—it’s actually easier!"
That’s right. I don’t have to endure the agony of clean copies where mistakes are unforgivable like in the old days.
Everything can be rewritten as many times as I want, and copies can be made in an instant!
The wonderful editing and printing technology of Weed—no, of Earth!
Personal computers are invincible machines!
Honestly, when I first learned of their existence, I was overjoyed.
Things like smartphones and aerial projections feel like they were made just for me!
With that, the environment is perfect.
"Alright, let’s get moving to create the articles. Which interviews will you two go to? We don’t know our strengths and weaknesses yet, but if there’s an article you want to try, you should start with that."
This time, it’s a mix of interviews and various greetings to build future relationships.
It’s the perfect opportunity to gauge what we’re good at and what we aren't.
Since it’s our first time, it’s fine if we fail at first.
"Let’s see. Perhaps I shall start with researching the shops. I often hear about them during the wives' gossip sessions, after all."
