Chapter 1066: The Small Nations Stir

"Up until now, we’ve primarily dealt with the major powers. It’s only natural that the smaller nations would start making moves, or rather, that they’d eventually fall under our purview. Still, the request for aid from the Dafaio Kingdom—a vassal state under Roschur—was a surprise."

"Indeed. I never imagined Aria-oneesama would make a mistake, let alone one caused by a dragon."

"There’s no doubt it was a dispute over water rights, but I never expected the dragon that had taken up residence there to actually stake a claim on the water supply."

"Oh, I wouldn’t say it 'staked a claim.' It was simply using the water as it pleased, and we only discovered the truth once we began our investigation. Fortunately, it was reasonable enough that nothing untoward occurred."

"On the contrary, it’s now working under Alfin. I’m just glad it’s learned the joys of living as a person."

"True. It’s far more comfortable to relax in Weed than to remain in dragon form. Besides, we certainly don’t have any entertainment facilities built for dragon-sized patrons."

"Fair point. And that brings us to the next topic: the If Continent."

Chapter 1091: Where’s the Next Job?

"The Lancer Magic Academy really bore the brunt of the intercontinental exchange, didn't it? Truly."

"Yeah. The If Continent is suffering from a pronounced depletion of magical energy. Naturally, that creates a disparity in the talent and technical expertise of those who can wield magic. The intercontinental exchange alliance was meant to bridge that gap, but for those who couldn't get into the academy or those who view it as a threat to their own power, it’s become the perfect excuse to attack. That said, we’re currently working on bolstering their infrastructure."

"Indeed. And then there’s the investigation of the Great Forest."

"Well, that’s how this year has shaped up."

"Yes. Looking back, it really was a difficult year. You’ve worked hard, Yuki."

"You too, Seraria. It was a struggle for both of us. Especially with the personnel shortages."

"That’s the truth. Still, ever since the intercontinental exchange alliance began moving, we’ve been able to focus primarily on the Zurable Empire on the New Continent, and Weed has managed to hold its own. Things are slowly improving."

"It just goes to show that everyone in Weed is growing."

"Even so, we’ve toured Zurable, Dafaio, and Lancer, but we’ve barely managed to secure any new talent."

"Secure, you say...? They’re cooperating with us, so that should be enough, shouldn't it?"

New Main Characters:

- Emperor Yupia

- Grand Imperial Hope Show

- Princess Fiora

- Nairua

- Wazfi

"If anything, I think it’s a success that we’ve gained local cooperative members."

"Oh, you can never have too many talented people."

"I understand your point, but out of those members, I think only the two from the academy are even candidates for recruitment."

"That’s where your charm needs to work its magic. I especially want Show and Fiora."

"Spare me. If I did that, the other nations would surely hold a grudge. Both of them are far too valuable."

"Well, that depends on your efforts. I’ll look forward to next year. And with that, it’s about time to wrap up."

"I suppose so. How was it for everyone? Was there any part of this year’s story that left an impression on you? Or perhaps a character you particularly liked?"

"If you leave a comment, it might even influence the main story. Well then, thank you all for this year. And have a happy New Year."

"By the way, the update for January 1st will be at midnight. Please be aware that the content will begin with a recap of last year."

Thank you for everything this past year.

Did you enjoy it?

Before I knew it, six years had passed since I started this in 2014.

This began as a hobby, and it is thanks to all of you that I have been able to come this far.

I look forward to your continued support.
