第1207堀:幽霊たちの対処として (Part2)
"Well, if you're going to be that blunt about it, I suppose I have no choice but to appoint a proxy or insist that someone reports to me constantly."
"Indeed. I would appreciate that. If I’m ever threatened with the kind of antics you see in the Adventurer’s Guild, I’ll be sure to dismantle the Ghost Division entirely."
Yes, completely. Without a trace.
"It’s a department with an undefined role to begin with. If they’re causing trouble for other departments or people, I can’t exactly accept that, so I suppose I should tell them to keep their act together."
"Exactly. It’s their fault for lacking common sense. I’m not asking for the impossible; I’m just asking them to know their place. I’m busy enough as it is, so I think I’m allowed at least that much selfishness."
"You are acting as the Dungeon Master in my stead, after all. My apologies."
The truth is, I’m simply terrified of ghosts themselves; I don’t reject the idea of the Ghost Division as an organization.
After all, I have taken on the role of "Dungeon Master Proxy" for Weed on Yuki’s behalf.
That means I have to attend most of the major meetings for Weed, and there are quite a few times when I must sit alongside Seraria, our Queen, to listen to petitions.
So, I’m surprisingly busy.
Of course, I often accompany Aslin and the others, but in reality, I only do so after I’ve properly finished a mountain of work.
That said...
"Not as much as you, Yuki. Coordinating with other nations and handling all those requests... it’s on a completely different level."
It’s true. I try my best, but unfortunately, I can’t say I handle anywhere near the workload Yuki does.
My appearance often hinders me when it comes to negotiations, for one thing.
And more importantly, when it comes to the crucial matter of magical research, my lack of knowledge is abysmal—I’m hardly of any use there.
Still, the very fact that I am acting as the Dungeon Master for Weed is, in itself, a form of help to Yuki.
If I weren't here to act as his shadow, Yuki’s workload would surely have ballooned even further.
"Alright. I understand your wishes, Labyris. I’m going to check on Wazfi and Nairua."
"Wait a moment. I’m coming too. You’re checking their mental state, aren't you? I think it would be better if I went along, don't you? You know why."
"That’s true, but it’s going to take some time. Aren't you busy?"
"Oh, my work for today is already finished. Isn't that right, Aslin?"
I said that and looked at Aslin and the others...
"It’s fine! I’ll go along to check on big sister Wazfi and the others."
"Yes, indeed. We shall determine if they are ready to go to the Great Sea of Trees."
"Exactly. Even if we cannot train, we can certainly observe and judge."
"Indeed. I don't think Deryu would cut any corners, but there might be things only we can see."
"I could never refuse to help my brother."
"If anything, I’d rather go on an adventure in place of Wazfi and Nairua."
They were all brimming with motivation.
Naturally.
It’s impossible for us to refuse to help Yuki, and since we’ve already finished our work for the day, there’s no issue.
Still, seeing Yuki come to consult me like this... I wonder if I’ll have to gradually get used to the ghosts as well?
While pondering such gloomy thoughts, we went with Yuki to check on Wazfi and Nairua. After confirming they were doing well, we took Deryu’s suggestion and held a mock battle with the two of them to provide some proper "education."
After all, they got the better of us during the last exchange match, and we couldn't let that go without returning the favor.
The Ghost Division.
I wonder what kind of department it will turn out to be.
Will they be Ghost Sweepers, or perhaps something more like urban legend investigators?
