第1223堀:仕事着ってあれだよな (Part2)
After grooming our hair together, Fiora and I stepped out of our room to head for breakfast.
The corridor was quiet just outside the guest quarters, but beyond that, the mansion was already bustling with servants coming and going. Well, in a world where lighting is still underdeveloped, rising with the sun is the standard.
As I pondered this, a maid noticed us from down the hall and bowed gracefully.
"My apologies. I have kept you waiting."
"No, it’s quite alright. We just woke up. By the way, where is everyone else?"
"Yes. Some of the ladies have already taken their breakfast in the dining hall. For those still resting, we shall prepare meals for them later. How would you and your party like to proceed, Yuki-sama?"
"In that case, we’ll have breakfast now."
"Understood. Please, this way."
Since the meal was already being prepared, we might as well eat. Fortunately, the food in the Kingdom of Zufia suited our tastes, so we had no issues with it. That said, it was admittedly a bit bland, but that couldn't be helped.
In the dining hall, Orelia, Shera, and the others were already present. They noticed us and called out.
"Good morning, Yuki-sama."
"Good morning, Yuki-san."
"Morning, big brother!"
"Good morning, indeed!"
"Morning."
"Oh, morning."
I replied in kind and took the seat I was directed to.
"What about Enora, Hiiro, and Kagura?"
"They haven't arrived yet. Perhaps they are still asleep?"
"I imagine they’ll be here shortly."
I see. It wasn't that they were just stepping away; the others were simply still in bed. As we chatted, our breakfast was served, and we began to eat. Before we finished, the remaining members arrived, allowing us to enjoy the meal together.
"So, Yuki, what are your plans for today?"
"Today is a rest day. We were supposed to tour the town and demonstrate some magic. The timing depends on Viscount Kinao’s schedule."
Indeed, my plans for the day were to sightsee in the town of Aoku and demonstrate magic at the request of Viscount Kinao. While Enora and Kagura were busy with matters related to the Haire Church and diplomacy, the rest of the members were relatively free. We planned to split into groups and wander about to survey the town.
"Good morning. Regarding that magic—I apologize for the suddenness, but would it be possible to request it immediately after breakfast?"
As we were making small talk, Viscount Kinao entered the room and bowed deeply as he made his request.
"Good morning, Viscount Kinao. That is perfectly fine."
"That is a relief. Truth be told, my daughter has been begging me to let her see it as soon as possible."
"Your daughter?"
"Yes. Come in, dear."
"Yes."
The person who entered in response to his call was a young girl, still a child, who looked to be around the same age as Aslin and the others.
"This is my daughter, Fusora."
"It is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Fusora."
"It is a pleasure to meet you as well. I am Yuki of Weed."
The girl who offered such a demure, aristocratic greeting before me was a lovely blonde. To put it simply, she looked just like a doll.
"Are you interested in magic?"
"Yes! I am the best at magic in my family, and I hope to attend the Haiden Magic Academy in the future!"
I see. If she wants to go to the Haiden Magic Academy, it’s only natural she would want to hear about it.
"I see. Then this might be perfect. Kagura is... well, she’s busy, but would you mind, Mikos?"
When I called out to her, she nodded as if to say, "Leave it to me."
"Leave it to this Mikos-chan."
"Thank you. She is Mikos, and she was a student at the Haiden Magic Academy."
"Really!?"
"It’s true. I’ll tell you all sorts of things about the academy, Fusora-chan."
"Yay!!"
"That’s good, Fusora. Now, eat your breakfast properly, and then we shall prepare."
"Yes, Father!"
And so, we spent a lively morning in the Kingdom of Zufia. It’s a good thing that, for now, there hasn't been any trouble. I felt truly at ease, having the luxury to enjoy the conversation.
Now then, when it comes to demonstrating magic, what kind should I show? It’s quite difficult to choose something that will be enjoyable for both Viscount Kinao and his daughter, Fusora. It’s funny how having a work uniform makes things so much more convenient; having to choose my own clothes for work is surprisingly troublesome.
