Chapter 1248: Standing on the Ghostly Earth

Standing on the Ghostly Earth

Side: Firia

"Whoa!! So this is a Gate!"

"That’s right. And with this, you can go straight to Weed."

"Exactly. But if you’re this surprised by just this much, you’re not going to last, you know?"

Firia and the others were currently guiding Havia to Weed at Brother’s request.

Unfortunately, Brother was away on business this time, so Kagura-neesama and Grandpa Sota were accompanying them instead.

"Well, this is the typical reaction for someone visiting Weed for the first time."

"I suppose so. But why did Yuki-san choose us as the guides? I feel like Kagura-san and the others would have been enough."

"Shera, as embarrassing as it is to admit, we don't know the 'technical details.' Agil, Comet, and Taizo-san are all busy, and when you look for someone who knows Havia and is also well-versed in technology..."

"It has to be Firia-chan. It’s a request from Mikos-chan. Please, help us out."

"We’ll follow up on everything else, so please."

"I’m counting on you."

I see. So Firia was chosen for her role as an "engineer."

Brother hadn’t explained it in much detail, but I suppose this, too, is a trial set by him.

With that thought, I braced myself and followed everyone through the Gate toward Weed.

"Amazing!! This is amazing!!"

And so, upon arriving in Weed, Havia reacted exactly like every other first-time visitor.

She was already looking around at everything, beaming with joy.

"Is that a vending machine? And that’s a bakery, right?"

Whoops, she was slightly off on that one.

Still, thanks to the manga she had studied so diligently, she had at least some knowledge.

As expected of the talented ghost Brother had invited.

That reminded me of something.

"Grandpa Sota, water. Is Havia going to be alright? She was originally a land-bound spirit, after all."

The reason Brother had added Grandpa Sota and the others to this escort mission was to keep a close watch on her condition.

She had apparently taken a medicine that "stabilizes ghosts," but since it was a brand-new concoction, we were told to be extra careful.

"She was clearly visible to the immigration officers at the border, and she seems stable enough. How about it, Water?"

"She looks stable to me, too. Just like Noriko. How do you see it, Noriko?"

"She looks stable to me as well. Though, she is incredibly excited."

"Is that so? Then, the next step is..."

"Let's ask her directly. It’s important to ask the person herself."

"That’s right. Her own opinion is what matters most."

Aslin and Labyris were right. It was important to hear it straight from Havia.

"Havia, how are you feeling?"

Firia made sure to check on Havia, who was still bustling with excitement.

Havia turned back to look at us, tilting her head.

"Hmm. I think I’m my usual self? I don’t feel any discomfort or illness so far."

Although her face was flushed with excitement, there was no sign that she was lying.

Good. That was a relief for now.

"That’s a relief. But as planned, we’re going to do a physical check-up first."

"I know. To the clinic, right?"

"It’s a hospital. I’ll take you on a proper tour of the town afterward."

"Yeah. I’m counting on you, Aslin."

With that, the two of them started walking, hand in hand.

"She really does seem fine."

"I agree. If she can hold hands like that, there shouldn't be any problems."

"Indeed. Walking through town holding hands with a ghost... My, how times have changed."

"You said it."

"Hey, hey, could you stop saying it like you’re 'seeing it for the first time'? I’m a ghost, too, you know."

"Noriko-san, you were summoned by Luna-sama, so it feels like you’re in a different category."

"Indeed. You are an exception. Besides, you’re a creature who carries enough madness and resentment within to drive a person insane just by being in your natural state—what part of you is 'normal'?"

Noriko-neesama really wasn't your average ghost.

Well, when she was playing the role of the ghost in the haunted house, she had a terrifying face.

She had tried to attack us, but in the end, she lost a contest of brute strength and started crying.

She had tried to grab us and drag us away, but trying to challenge Firia to a test of strength was a naive mistake.

When we dragged her out, she was covered in blood, so we gave her proper treatment.

Well, never mind Noriko-neesama; Firia and the others continued to introduce the townscape to Havia as they headed toward the hospital.

They arrived at a stark white building.

It was one of the three hospitals in Weed, specifically designated for tourists.

It had been built because the number of tourists visiting Weed had skyrocketed, making a dedicated facility necessary.

Of the other two, one was the original hospital in the residential district for Weed citizens, and the other was located near the Adventurer’s Guild to handle the constant stream of injuries.

That said, anyone could use any of them, so it wasn't a problem.

"Whoa. Is this the hospital?"

Havia asked, tilting her head as she looked at the building.

It seemed she didn't have much knowledge regarding hospitals.

Come to think of it, I don't think I gave her any medical manga.

Well, it couldn't be helped if she didn't know.

"That’s right. Rurua-oneesama is the director here."

"Rurua? Ah, I think I heard that name from Yuki. She’s a recovery mage, right?"

"Exactly. Rurua-neesama is the world’s top-tier recovery mage. She incorporates modern medicine into her treatments."

Rurua-neesama was the head of all three hospitals in Weed.

Elju-neesama was also a director, but she seemed busy lately, coming and going quite often.

"Ah, I see. If she’s Yuki’s wife, it’s no wonder she knows Earth’s technology. That must mean she’s an incredible practitioner. If someone like that is going to look at me, I feel at ease."
