落とし穴外伝:ちゃんと把握してないといけないこと (Part2)

"They’re bound to show up eventually. That’s why you want to re-examine exactly what kind of races we’re dealing with, right?"

"If we handle this poorly, it could escalate into a war. It would be a nightmare to find ourselves at odds with the Dragonkin..."

It isn’t just a matter of conflicting rules; there will always be fools who move to exploit slaves as mere assets. Rare races are, in themselves, a lucrative commodity. As Shera suggests, if we were to anger the Dragonkin and have a swarm of dragons burn the country to the ground, it wouldn't be a laughing matter.

But even that is on the milder end of the spectrum. At least in that scenario, we would understand the circumstances—and more importantly...

"You're right. Well, as far as the Dragonkin go, we have the High Elf Queen, Miyabi, acting as a bridge, so we’re safe for now."

Indeed, regarding the Dragonkin specifically, we are already acquainted with their leadership and share a relationship where we can discuss problems as they arise. It is highly unlikely they would launch a sudden assault on the country.

"Oh, but for those kinds of rare races, wouldn't Miyabi, Gaul, and Coral be the ones to ask?"

"I agree. I imagine they would be quite knowledgeable."

"True. Leave it to the experts, as they say. Asking the specialists is the best approach. Still, those three may have lived a long time, but they’re all shut-ins."

While their longevity certainly grants them a wealth of knowledge, Miyabi, Gaul, and Coral are, at the end of the day, members of reclusive races. I doubt they have a comprehensive grasp of the wider world.

"Where else could we find a decent source of information?"

"Hmm, let me think."

"What about the state? Why not request information regarding 'races' during the upcoming discussions on the international student exchange program?"

"That’s it. No organization holds more information than the state... Wait. An organization?"

Something clicked. I felt as though I knew of an 'organization' that was well-versed in these types of races and monsters... Just as that thought crossed my mind, the door swung open.

"Yuki-san! We managed to get our hands on some fine liquor. Won't you drink with us tonight?"

"And please, have some snacks ready for us~"

"Now, now, you two. Yuki-san is off-duty today."

Milly, Ratz, and Eris—the very heart of Weed—had arrived in the room together. Seeing them, we all reacted in unison:

"Ah."

"Huh?"

We had all let out a sound while staring at Milly, who tilted her head, looking utterly bewildered.

"Milly, you’ve come at the perfect time. Ratz and Eris, too. You three must know more about this than I do."

After all, Milly is the representative of the Adventurer District, which works in close cooperation with the Weed Adventurer Guild. Ratz is the representative of the Merchant District, managing the import and export of all goods in Weed. Eris is the deputy representative of the Accounting Department, managing Weed’s finances. In short, they are the ones most deeply acquainted with the problems involving people and various races.

The opinions of those on the front lines are invaluable. If we combine their insights with those of Miyabi, Gaul, and Coral, we should be able to reach a much better conclusion.

"Um, I don't really get it, but if you're in trouble, Yuki-san, we'll help."

"Of course. Helping you is only natural, after all."

"Yes. So, what exactly happened?"

"Well, it involves work, and we’d need to invite Miyabi and the others as well. Actually, maybe it’s better to talk about it over drinks."

"Isn't that fine? It’s a good way to start."

"Recalling things together is important, too. Besides, it’s your day off."

"Alright. Milly, let’s drink tonight just as you asked. I’ll prepare the snacks. Is it alright if I invite Miyabi and the others, too?"

"That’s fine by me."

"If there are snacks, then there’s no problem at all~"

"Then I’ll go ahead and let them know."

And so, it was decided: we would play games during the day and discuss our plans over drinks at night. Because there are so many different races, failing to keep track of them could lead to unnecessary trouble. It’s a daunting task, but one I cannot afford to ignore.

Incidentally, I still haven't cleared *Shin Megami Tensei*.
