第1253堀:冒険者ギルドの準備 (Part2)
It was someone I had dealt with just recently while helping out at the reception desk.
"Sorry, I’m busy right now."
I said it without a hint of malice, simply because I was occupied, and moved to step past them. But then, the members of that party cut directly into my path.
"Come on, don't be like that."
"Why don't you let us take you along on our adventure?"
Well now, what to do?
They were looking at me with eyes that were utterly lewd.
*Sigh.* I thought these kinds of pests had significantly dwindled lately, but it seems cockroaches are truly impossible to exterminate.
Usually, I’d just bury them in the ceiling or the floor, but I couldn't exactly show off a damaged guild right when Yuki and his guests were arriving.
As I tilted my head, wondering how to handle this, the surrounding adventurers—who had turned pale in an instant—rushed in to pin the idiot party down.
"What the hell are you doing?! Don't you dare anger the Representative!"
"You guys! You saw the photos when you entered Weed, didn't you?! Hey! Bring some rope!"
"Got it! Here!"
"We’re so sorry, Milly! We’ll make sure to give these guys a real talking-to! Go on, get to your work!"
The moment one of the female adventurers said that, the crowd parted like a wave, opening a path to the exit.
I was stunned for a second, but I quickly regained my composure.
"Thank you. And make sure you discipline them thoroughly. My husband is coming to visit, after all."
"““!?””"
"““Yes, ma'am!””"
It seemed the restrained adventurers hadn't known I was married.
Or rather, they didn't even seem to know I was the "Representative."
I know for a fact that it’s explained to everyone when they enter Weed, but there are always those who refuse to listen to a word they’re told.
Regardless, since they were pinned down before they could commit any actual assault, I wouldn't be punishing them myself—but I’m sure those other adventurers would wring them out dry.
"Right, I’d better hurry."
After that unexpected loss of time, I quickened my pace toward the General Government Building, where...
"Oh, you've arrived."
"Thank you for coming to meet me."
"Say, Master. Wouldn't it have been faster to go straight to Milly's location?"
"It’s not quite that simple. Thank you, Milly."
"Not at all. Shall we head out immediately?"
Having successfully linked up with Yuki and the others, we turned back toward the guild.
"Come to think of it, this is my first time heading to the commercial and adventurer districts this early in the morning."
"Now that you mention it, you're right. Usually, the morning is reserved for a bath."
"The two of you, why don't you try working? The shopkeepers start their preparations before sunrise. At this hour, you're already behind."
Hmm. Putting aside Queen Miyabi and Gaul, it’s actually terrifying that Coral is the most sensible—or rather, the one with the most "normal" sensibilities.
Then again, Alfin’s sweets shop requires preparation from very early on, so it’s actually on the early-bird side of things even in Weed.
I can see why Yuki doesn't feel the need to be on guard around these people.
Especially Coral; despite her seemingly reckless appearance, she’s a diligent worker.
"So, Milly. Is the preparation all set?"
"Yes. The Grand Master is already here waiting for us."
"The Grand Master came, too?"
"Well, it concerns 'races,' after all. When we thought about who the wisest person in the guild was, it had to be the Grand Master. When we asked, he agreed without a second thought."
"I appreciate that. Though, that old man is a total enigma."
"Ahaha..."
Yuki was right; that Grand Master is truly a "mysterious existence."
The only thing we know for certain is that he sits at the top of the adventurer guilds on this continent.
No matter who you ask—even the veterans of the guild—no one knows his background or history.
Well, I know for a fact that he is incredibly strong; I’ve confirmed it using the dungeon’s data.
His level is over 300.
His stats are higher than Deryu’s were when I first met her; he is clearly beyond human understanding.
He’s 232 years old, too. Is he even human?
Perhaps this time, we might finally unravel some of those mysteries.
As I let my thoughts drift toward the enigma of the Grand Master, I returned to the Adventurer Guild.
The Adventurer Guild is the place that would hold information on mysteries and phantoms, after all.
It’s like a university research lab, in a sense.
As they say, if you want to find treasure, you go to a treasure hunter.
