As expected, Shera and Rurua were convinced by just that.
As for cracks, I have experience with that myself, from when I was a general, during knight recruitment.
When recruiting knights, we were doing the obvious thing of selecting based on competitive skill and academic ability. However, combined with their family status, complex hierarchies formed, and there were quite a few cases where things deteriorated.
From my perspective, new recruits were just new recruits; they were not just six of one, half a dozen of the other, but more like fifty paces versus fifty-one. Yet, they would still arbitrarily create hierarchies.
If left unchecked, conflicts would arise within the knight corps, making it difficult for the army to function normally.
Such things must be avoided.
“Hmm, that is indeed the safest method. As for Weed, we will administer tests to the students, but we will not disclose the detailed results. If they are underperforming or exceptionally talented and show initiative, we will provide learning support. Then, if their home country deems it necessary, they can have them take separate tests in their own nations and assign them to suitable positions. That way, cracks will be less likely to form.”
“Indeed. That way, it won’t become a comparison of superiority or inferiority between nations. Instead, it will highlight what fields each individual possesses talent in.”
“Well, aside from fundamental general education, Weed is still in a trial-and-error phase regarding what specialized fields to teach, especially what subjects to subdivide and teach in detail. I believe that will be decided after we hear the students’ motivations and the opinions of each nation.”
Engaged in such complex discussions, I found myself continuously devouring the yakiniku.

In this manner, we continued our casual conversation while eating more yakiniku. It goes without saying that before we knew it, lunchtime had long passed.

It’s surprisingly difficult to find common topics of conversation, so colleagues often end up talking about work.
And bringing up unfamiliar subjects would only cause discomfort.
