第1294堀:幽霊雇用問題 (Part2)
With those words, Yamamoto-san likely handed over the envelopes containing their documents.
"Thank you."
I thanked him and took out the contents. As expected, they were documents concerning those ten individuals. They were neatly organized onto a single A4 sheet, making them easy to understand.
"Is this what they call a resume?"
I spread it out on the table, and Ratz, Eris, Riel, and Kaya joined me in reviewing it.
"Hmm, not only can they do basic arithmetic, but they've graduated high school and university. That's quite impressive! And these are Japanese school names, aren't they?"
"Yes, I believe so. I recognize them."
Indeed. They looked like Japanese schools to me as well. In fact, half of them had graduated from such universities and high schools.
"What were the selection criteria?"
"Hmph. I was told they would be assisting with the school's operations and night-time management, so I selected individuals with experience in educational settings. The spirits other than Hanako, by nature, tend to be mischievous and thus deemed unsuitable for this role."
"That's true."
When he put it that way, there weren't many monster-like individuals. Although, there were a few...
"Hey, Yuki-san, didn't you say that the Human Mannequin was someone who killed people?"
"Mmm. This Teke Teke was also said to be a phenomenon that involved pulling off people's legs."
As they spoke, Riel and Kaya pointed to two of the documents. The photos on them were… not normal. While the Teke Teke, at first glance, appeared to be an ordinary woman, the Human Mannequin was half peeled away… and the overall image was gruesome. Furthermore, their nature as entities that harmed people, as the two pointed out, could not be overlooked.
"Ah, that's not a problem. Like Noriko, they have a proper sense of self and won't be consumed by malice. Right, Lieutenant Yamamoto?"
"Hmph. Up until today, he has experience not only in haunted houses but also in other security duties. Furthermore, he originally lived in Japan like Ms. Noriko, so he likely has better aptitude than I do."
I see. So, like Noriko-san, they were given the power of a phenomenon. In that case, perhaps it would be alright?
"Ah, speaking of which, how many people are we allowed to hire? The more people, the better, right, Ratz, Eris?"
Since this was for school security, the opinions of the principal and vice-principal were naturally important, so I wanted to confirm.
"That's right~. The more security personnel there are, the better we can respond to unforeseen circumstances, so the more, the merrier~."
"We don't need an unmanageable number, but around ten people should be fine. So, is it alright to hire all of them, Yamamoto-san?"
"Hmph. As I mentioned earlier, even if you hire all ten, we have already made preparations to compensate, so there is no problem."
"Then, all that's left is the interview~. Yamamoto-san, could you please call everyone in? Uhm, the time is 1:30 PM. It will be held in the adjacent reception room~."
"Hmph. Understood. Then, General Yuki, I shall take my leave!"
"Ah, thank you."
As Yuki-san spoke, Yamamoto-san vanished as smoothly as Hanako-chan had.
"Hey, Yuki-san. Wasn't Yamamoto-san a warrant officer? Taizo-san called him something like 'field promotion'."
Ah, I think that was his rank.
"A field promotion is a measure to align one's rank with their duties in the military. For example, the aircraft carrier Lilith, which Dressa commands in the navy, requires a captain who is a colonel. Therefore, if the captain dies in combat, there would be no captain. However, that cannot be allowed to happen, so if the highest-ranking officer on the scene, for instance, a major, is present, they would be immediately promoted to colonel and gain the right to command the warship."
"Uhm, it's difficult, so I don't quite understand, but it means they're temporarily given that rank because they can't be utilized otherwise?"
"That's right. It's a measure to prevent confusion if they remain at a lower rank. In the police force, if a beat officer had the authority of the superintendent, you wouldn't know that by their rank, would you?"
"Ah, I understand that."
I see. So that's how it works. By temporarily raising their rank, they can ensure smooth command.
"Well, he's being tested now and has been promoted to lieutenant. He must have had talent from the start. Anyway, the topic has strayed. The interviews are from 1:30 PM, but do I need to be there?"
"It would be helpful if you could stay, just in case."
I don't think they'll disobey, but it's good to be sure. Will they remember the spirits other than Noriko? I'll assign them as well. Now, the school is becoming increasingly impenetrable... terrifying.
