After various conversations and a general tour, we arrived at the janitor's room, designated for the ghosts.
"This is the monitoring room. We've called it a 'janitor's room' to fit the school setting. Students might come here for consultations, just like in the nurse's office, so please keep that in mind."
The janitor's room was surprisingly spacious. Upon entering, there was a living room of about fifteen tatami mats, and beyond that, separated by sliding doors, were two bedrooms, each about six tatami mats. Of course, there were closets, enough to store not only futons but also personal belongings. Oh, and there was a kitchen, bathroom, and toilet, so it was fully equipped for living.
"...This is more than a janitor's room. It's like a high-class apartment." Marino looked around, clearly astonished.
"Is it that strange?"
"Well, it's unusual for a janitor's room to be this large and well-appointed. Normally, they're small and dirty... Ah, I see. It's because this is brand new."
"That's part of it, but this school is attended by nobles, so we've paid some attention to appearances."
"Ah, I see. Indeed, with this, perhaps we can maintain face even with nobles?"
"More than enough. After all, even nobles from great nations usually don't have electricity or running water, let alone electrical appliances. A refrigerator alone would surely surprise them. Well, they'd probably be surprised by the dorms first."
"Right, their technological base is different. Being in Weed, it feels like being in a foreign country, so I'd completely forgotten."
"That's what worries me. Some fools will behead you if you tease them carelessly. You can subdue those kinds of people." Of course, such fools were not tolerated in Weed.
Incidentally, there was a basement beneath this monitoring room where...
"Understood. I'll explain how to spend your time here and how to blend in with the students. Could we have a moment to discuss it amongst ourselves?"
"Yes. Of course."
Leaving Marino and the others behind, we returned to the principal's office.
"So, how is everyone?"
"Um, we spoke with them, and they seem like good people~"
"I thought so too." We answered Yuki's question honestly. Our impressions hadn't changed since the interviews.
"This is a great help, having the monitoring staff filled. Of course, we still need to discuss the details of their work."
"That's the hard part, isn't it? Like how to use the routes and equipment."
"...Well, since most of them are originally from Japan, I don't think it will be too difficult." Indeed, the ghosts seemed to have come from the same time period in Japan as Yuki, and Lieutenant Yamamoto had mentioned they could handle computers. Their basic specifications were truly different from Weed's.
"They'll likely get used to that. However, being able to use the monitoring system and computers aren't the same thing, so teach them thoroughly. With that said, is the acceptance of exchange students, including the training of monitors, proceeding as originally planned?"
"Yes, it's proceeding as planned without any issues~"
"Yes. We have ample preparation time. We'd like to conduct a test with the students, but I suppose we'll have to do it in practice, won't we?" While we had hoped to conduct some prior training, it would still be different from actual students, and we understood that even bringing nobles was difficult. Still, believing there would be some benefit, we had tentatively suggested it...
"I see. In that case, I'll reach out to some acquaintances. Since they're acquaintances, they'll likely understand our situation well and won't object much, though they might have opinions about the classes."
"Huh? You have some?"
"Of course, I have some connections. How about giving me about three days?"
"Yes~. Can you gather them in that amount of time?"
"If it takes months to gather them, the main event will have already begun. I'll limit it to those who can gather in that time."
After that conversation, we finished the ghost employment and returned to our respective tasks, continuing the preparations for the acceptance of exchange students. The ghosts who came to Weed are mostly copy types or former Japanese individuals with acquired abilities.
