Chapter 1356: Emergency Alliance Meeting
Emergency Alliance Meeting
Side: Yuki
Steve and his team have covered two days of the three-day journey to the Suurus Principality without issue. They are still pushing forward in their vehicles. They are scheduled to arrive and establish a defensive line within the next twenty-four hours. I need to wrap up this meeting before then.
"Hmm, so this is a Great Stampede. Man, looking at the scale, this is bad. Could even we be in trouble? What do you think, Zilba?"
"Hmph. My soldiers are different from yours. A single nation can push this back. ...Assuming there isn't a Dungeon Master lurking in the back."
"Right. It would be a nightmare if they were deploying monsters as they pleased."
The ones staring at the screen while saying this are the kings from the If Continent: King Blade of Lodey, King Zilba, and King August. When I had my wives contact them for this emergency, they were, as expected, intensely curious about the Great Stampede and flew over immediately. Of course, the other kings of the If Continent have gathered as well, and as for the Haiden region...
"This is outrageous."
"Indeed. It’s troublesome. We have no experience fighting monsters, especially on such a massive scale."
"It probably won't be as troublesome as sea monsters... but with numbers like this..."
They are frowning at the sight of new monster species and the sheer scale of the Great Stampede. While they aren't as restricted in magic as the If Continent, none of them—save for the Kingdom of Seasypho—have any experience fighting monsters. Even Seasypho only has experience with naval combat. The damage caused by such inexperience will likely be significant.
Meanwhile, among the many kings who were frowning, some were different.
"Hmm. It seems there are no flying types. There are many of them, but if they possess the typical strength of their species, we should be able to manage."
"Indeed. Aside from the fact that they appear suddenly, they are manageable. However, if we don't cut off the source, we'll be worn down."
"That is true. The anxiety of not knowing how long this will last is the real issue."
Eupia and Show of Zuraburu are evaluating the combat strength calmly, without much anxiety. It’s likely the difference in experience, given they have been fighting large-scale wars and incorporating monsters into their military forces.
"This Great Stampede, it’s been about ten years, hasn't it? Was the location Gartz back then?"
"Yes. Mauve and the others handled it, but the scale here is larger. What was the number back then...?"
"Ah, let's see. I don't think it was even 5,000. Right, Raiya?"
"It was about 4,000, I believe."
"Yes. That’s why the town’s forces were able to manage. But this time, the numbers are much higher."
Mauve and his companions answer the questions from the Kings of Roschur and Gartz. I see, so that was the scale ten years ago. Well, even that is troublesome when you have 4,000 forces led by a commander like a Lich. They weren't as stable as they are now, and they had to defend the town while also managing border security. Apparently, Mauve and the adventurers took charge of the defense and managed to rout the enemy by taking out the Lich, but it was still a fierce battle.
"Alright, I think everyone understands the situation. If it were just about dealing with this Great Stampede, the Kingdom of Litea could handle it alone, but since there might be a Dungeon Master involved, I’ve sent forces from Weed as a vanguard. About 100 of Steve's men."
I told them to take 100, but that's just the combat personnel. Including logistics and medical support, the total is around 130.
"100 against 10,000. Normally, that’s a suicide mission, but with Steve and his team, they’ll find a way."
"Indeed. They are excellent."
Everyone nods at the words of King Lodey and King Zilba. Steve and his team’s excellence is being recognized. They’ll surely be moved to tears when they hear this.
"So, what do you want from us? Weed can handle the situation alone, right? Well, I think I know what you're aiming for."
"Are you trying to show other nations that the Intercontinental Exchange Alliance provides aid even to those outside the alliance by sending our own people?"
"Yes, that’s part of building that track record. Along with that, it’s to gather data on the Great Stampede and have each nation recognize the threat."
I state my objective honestly, without hiding anything.
"Hmm. Indeed, an opportunity like this is rare. I, for one, would like you to provide thorough information. Especially regarding this 'Dungeon Master.' It would be fine if they were friendly like you, Yuki, or Lady Luna, but there are also servants of the former gods, aren't there?"
"That is the terrifying part. If a nation tries to handle matters involving dungeons and monsters alone, they risk being devoured. It would be better to face these situations with this current structure moving forward."
As King Roschur adds this after Eupia, everyone nods in agreement.
"Well, unanimity is a good thing, but sending troops takes time. How will you handle that? Will you just claim they were sent based on authorization?"
"No, fortunately, I have my wives and others already seconded to Weed."
"Ah, I see. So if Jessica goes to aid the Suurus Principality, she can act as a representative for Zilba as well?"
"It’s a bit of a stretch, but I suppose that’s the only way. From Ex, we will lend you Difes and her team."
"Then, from White Forest, we will send Kaya and Claudia."
Countries without my wives are sending people I know. They are practically family anyway.
"Then, from Seasypho, it will be Menou."
"And from here, it will be Show. But is this really okay for Litea? You were asked for aid by the Suurus Principality, weren't you? If you leave it entirely to the Alliance, won't Litea's authority suffer?"
Eupia asks, concerned for Alstaire.
"It will be fine. There is the shadow of a Dungeon Master, and if Litea were to be wiped out on its own, that would damage our reputation even more. Above all, the problem is that Suurus showed no interest in the Alliance. This is a good opportunity to show those around us that the Alliance is there for when something happens. There are the Beastman nations, and, well, various others."
Ah, come to think of it, the Beastman nations are still giving vague answers regarding the Alliance. The High Elf nation seems to be in a "wait and see" mode regarding their membership.
