第1406堀:ある冒険者の感想 (Part2)
"The Adventurer's Guild will be conducting an investigation into the Great Outbreak that occurred in Suurus. While various nations are sending their own investigative teams, the Adventurer's Guild will be joining them as well. After all, countermeasures for a Great Outbreak are a shared concern."
Milly-chan’s words rang true.
While there were no strictly codified treaties, there was an unspoken understanding that when a Great Outbreak occurred, everyone would lend a hand. Furthermore, we were tasked with investigating the cause to ensure such a catastrophe would never happen again.
As for the investigative teams from the various nations, there were no particular issues; they were comprised of people like Yuki’s wives—those who were well-versed in the hidden truths of the world.
The real problem lay with the potential erratic movements of the Dungeon Masters, the Dark Guilds, and the two nations that had ignited the war.
"The Great Outbreak that had already occurred has been crushed by the Allied Forces. Our mission is to search the point of origin and investigate the western town that was decimated. The Allied investigative team currently in the vanguard has reported no signs of lingering monsters, but caution is still required."
Milly-chan spread a map across the table as she explained, her points aligning perfectly with the intelligence I had gathered.
"Our priorities are the investigation of the origin point and the survey of the western town. Both are equally vital, so we will be dedicating a comparable amount of time to each. Does anyone have any questions?"
As soon as Milly-chan posed the question, Curse raised his hand.
"Has the duration of the investigation been set?"
"We are currently in negotiations with Suurus. We will likely be granted a reasonable amount of time, but I cannot give you a specific figure. Above all, please keep in mind that the neighboring nations of Kinauf and Irinau are using this Great Outbreak as a pretext to commit territorial violations and illegal occupations, which has caused further trouble. I doubt anything will happen while the Alliance is present, but should a state of war break out, the investigation will be halted immediately. Please be aware of that."
"I see. Does that mean we need to keep in step with the investigative team from the Alliance?"
"That is correct. It might be best to coordinate our movements to survey the same areas, or perhaps alternate our efforts. Well, that is something we will need to discuss. There may be points that only we in the Adventurer's Guild would notice. If that proves to be the case, we may request an extension for further investigation."
She had a point. I’d like to think there’s nothing that only we could notice, but after years of being an adventurer, I know better than to dismiss such instincts. Besides, the Alliance’s investigative team was made up of Yuki’s own kin; I’m sure we could find some flexibility there. Still, as Milly-chan suggested, moving separately would carry its own set of risks.
"Of course, we will also have guides from the Adventurer's Guild who managed to evacuate from the western town in Suurus. It would be wise to compile a list of questions for them in advance. I will send them a letter beforehand; I doubt they could handle a barrage of questions on the spot."
That was fair. It would be chaotic to subject people who had just lost their homes to an interrogation. Such consideration was necessary.
Well, that was fine, but...
"Say, Milly-chan. Is Kina-chan here to oversee the meeting?"
She had entered the room with Milly-chan and had been listening in silence without so much as an introduction. Rock was busy as the Guild Master, so perhaps she was here as the Vice Guild Master to keep an eye on things?
"Not at all~. I’m actually going along as a representative of the investigative team this time."
"Huh? You are, Kina-chan? Not Rock?"
"I was told to go out and make a name for myself."
"““Ah.””"
That made sense. Kina-chan had been promoted to Vice Guild Master after coming to Weed, but she had been stationed in Weed ever since. It wasn't ideal to have no lateral connections. It seemed she was being sent out to show her face and build cooperative ties.
"I am merely the representative negotiating with the Weed Adventurer's Guild. Kina is the one serving as the representative for the Adventurer's Guild as a whole."
"Now that you mention it, that’s true. I’d sort of gotten the image that the Adventurer's Guild was a two-man show run by Rock and Milly-chan."
"That’s not entirely wrong, either. *Sigh*... Rock-san and Milly keep telling me to do my best."
"Well, I agree that you should do your best. If those two weren't around, things would grind to a halt. This is a good opportunity."
I see. So, the goal was to boost the reputation of the Weed Adventurer's Guild through this mission. The world was truly in constant motion.
I’m content just being an adventurer.
A long-awaited appearance.
But Mauve and his crew are busy, too.
