第1510堀:結果はどうとらえるかで変わる (Part1)

**Chapter 1510: Results Depend on Perspective**

**Side: Rurua**

"Director, here are the results of the health examinations."

"Thank you."

I take the medical charts handed to me by my subordinate. These charts belong to the slaves we purchased at the auction—all of them. It has been decided that we will provide temporary care and education for everyone, whether they were purchased from non-aligned nations or by private individuals. In that sense, they are precious charges entrusted to our care, which is why I, as the director, am reviewing them personally.

With that thought in mind, I quickly scan through the charts of nearly three hundred people. The format is designed so that any serious illnesses or conditions stand out immediately, allowing me to process them at this speed.

"Hmm. So, the Weed health screenings showed no particular abnormalities."

I place the charts on my desk and look up at my subordinate.

"Yes. Everyone is in perfect health... though, perhaps 'perfect' is an overstatement, as their spirits are somewhat fragile. But there are no overt physical injuries or diseases."

"Should we call that fortunate?"

"I suppose so. Especially when you consider cases like Lyushi’s. Compared to that, this is nothing."

"Indeed."

When Lyushi was first brought to Weed, there was a very real possibility she would have perished before a doctor could even arrive. Even with the skill of that adventurer healer, it was all they could do to maintain her life, let alone recover it. It was only because Master happened to be there that her body recovered to the point where she could be called healthy, yet her heart remained lost.

Moreover, Weed is a nation that prides itself on its dungeon. Adventurers from all over the world come to challenge it, and they often suffer grave injuries or even lose their lives. Well, that is a matter of personal responsibility, and as Master—no, even from my perspective—it is an environment that attracts excellent patients. It is a wonderful place to train newcomers.

Compared to such people, there is no doubt that those sold at this auction are in excellent health, but…

"How are they? Are there any who show overt symptoms of trauma, like Canary-san?"

"Not at the moment. However, I suspect we may learn more once they begin vocational training."

"That is true. Some things only become apparent once they are out in the field. Understood. I will make sure to instruct the vocational training center to keep a close watch."

"I appreciate it. In that case, they will begin their transfer to the training center now."

"Yes, please do."

With that, my subordinate leaves the room. Once the health screenings are complete, they will undergo vocational training and acquire basic academic skills. Once that is finished, they will head to their original masters. I only hope that, as a result, they find themselves in a better environment.

Setting that aside, I have the results of the slaves' health exams, so I must go and report them. I gather my documents, shed my lab coat, return to my usual attire, and step out of the hospital.

"I have the results of the health examinations. Everyone is clear of any abnormalities, and they are currently being transferred to the vocational training center."

"Thank you, Rurua."

Seraria is the one who takes the documents and begins reviewing them. Beside her, Master, Lilishe, Eris, Ratz, and Lowel are seated on the sofa.

"In any case, I'm glad there were no particular issues with the slaves."

"That’s true."

Lilishe agrees with Lowel’s words.

"I’ve been conducting counseling as well, and while there is some anxiety, I don’t see any major problems. Well, as Rurua-chan said, there may be various issues that arise once they are out in the field, so they bear watching."

"Indeed. Some things only come to light in the field. Still, I am relieved there was nothing that required immediate intervention."

"And what about the rare races we protected? You were looking into that, weren't you, Yuki-san?"

All eyes turn to Master. As Eris says, the primary public objective of participating in this auction was the protection of rare races. While we did have the goal of probing the dark guilds, the protection of these individuals was no lie. If they were kidnapped from somewhere, we must ensure they are returned to their homelands.

"For now, it’s a case of them bringing it upon themselves. There is no doubt they were forced into slavery, but it seems they understand that they had little choice in the matter."

"What are the specific reasons?"

"Debt, all of them. The reasons vary—failed adventurer jobs, failed businesses, or trying to protect their villages. In a way, it shows that even non-aligned nations are upholding the ban on illegal slavery that we’ve been advocating."

That is unexpected. Since non-aligned nations are not part of the alliance, I had assumed it wouldn't be strange for them to engage in such inhumane practices. As I think this, Lowel speaks up.

"It’s not that strange. Non-aligned nations don’t want to be on bad terms with the rare races, either. Especially the Fairies. Though there weren't any this time."

"Well, that’s true. The mere presence of rare races is a sign that a country is prosperous and safe. Buying and selling them would cause the nation's credibility to crumble. And that applies to the common folk as well. If rumors spread that a country is selling innocent people as slaves, people will leave and tax revenue will drop. Anyone with common sense wouldn't do such a thing."

Ah, now that you mention it, that is true. No one would want to live in a country that does such things. It could even become a cause for other nations to invade. Above all, the people are the source of a nation's strength.

"Master, does that mean the slave trade this time was legitimate?"

"I’d say so. Well, those with something to hide probably didn't participate. We were advertising it quite openly, after all. I had hoped the dark guilds might come to probe us, at least."

"Even that didn't happen, so my guard duties were unnecessary. Thanks to that, I was bored to tears. I just spent my time chatting with the non-aligned delegates to gather information."

Lowel gives a wry smile, clearly disappointed that things didn't go as expected. Indeed, I had thought the dark guilds might try something, but that never came to pass.

"Ah, I want to hear about that. Did you get any good information?"

"Unfortunately, the non-aligned nations don't seem to have any information on the dark guilds either. Well, admitting to knowing anything in that setting would be bad for their reputation, so I might get a message later."

"If that's the case, we have no choice but to try visiting Vinoshia, Princess Canary’s homeland. Ah, wait, is it under the management of the Hinsua Kingdom now?"

"That’s right. We haven't obtained detailed information on that side yet. How is it on your end?"
