It is certainly possible to hoard DP and never use it, but if you misjudge when to spend it, you could lose everything.
This applies to running a nation, and even to ordinary households.
It’s all about where you choose to spend your surplus, saved for important occasions.
And this applies to Weed as well.
There’s no way they’d use all of Weed’s DP for this, but they’re still bringing a considerable budget to bear.
Enough to seize control from the enemy, at least.
Furthermore, while the total amount will certainly decrease with use, Weed’s DP revenue has significantly increased with the recent alliance building.
Originally, they had substantial revenue when Weed was established, but now it’s several times that amount.
Replenishing what’s been spent won’t be easy, but there’s a plan in place.
On the other hand, the enemy isn’t openly gathering people; they’re allied with a secret dark guild.
Even if they’re secretly abducting citizens from non-aligned nations for DP, it’s still a limited amount.
If it comes down to a battle of wealth, we have the advantage.
“Well, if you think about it normally, that’s how it is, but we can’t afford to be careless,” I say.
I negate my own thoughts and warn my husband, Yuki, not to let his guard down.
Certainly, in a dungeon battle, we’d rarely lose, but for us, this mission to the old Vinocia to search for a hidden treasure, gather information on the dark guild and Dungeon Masters, and capture those involved, would be considered a loss if any of our members were killed or injured.
Of course, most of them are doppelgangers and dummies, but if the dark guild believes they’ve defeated them, that would also be a problem.
Concealment is possible, but it would only embolden them.
Perhaps there are ways to lure them out by deliberately losing…
“You’re not considering deliberately losing, are you?” Yuki asks.
“That’s a sub-plan at best. We’ve determined it’s not something to actively pursue.”
“Indeed. That would be for the best.”
I’m relieved that Yuki, too, isn’t planning on getting defeated.
Of course, if the enemy is strong, we might have to consider such tactics.
I sip my coffee while contemplating this.
Mmm, delicious.
As I’m enjoying it, Yuki poses another question.
“So, I have a question for you too, is that okay?”
“What is it?”
“From your perspective, Deryu, how do you think everyone would perform in combat, or in a situation where they’re surrounded in a dungeon? I’ve read the reports, but I figured it would be best to ask you, who has the most combat experience.”
“Hmm.”
I ponder Yuki’s question for a moment.
I had expected questions like this to come up.
However…
“I can only evaluate them as they are in the reports. Well, everyone has completed their training. Still, I’m most worried about Ryushi, who has little practical experience. And while I have concerns about Senal, I can’t quite read Hairen.”
“Ah. I see.”
Yuki says, turning his gaze towards Hairen’s seat.
I follow his gaze.
“Who is it that’s holding up the six of hearts~?”
“It’s a game, so don’t threaten them.”
“Hahaha, please do your best, Hairen-sama.”
“Even if you try to shake us like that, we won’t falter~”
It appears the Goddess and the Priest are playing cards.
From their conversation, I deduce it’s Seven-Eleven.
They’re certainly carefree.
“We can’t have them acting on their own. They seem to be training, but with the Goddess’s power, it’s hard to gauge their true strength.”
“Even for you, Deryu?”
“What do you take me for? You’re better suited to handle that kind of person, Yuki. However, I can’t say they lack skill. Having fought Demon Lords, Dungeon Masters, and even gods in the Haiden region, their movements are incredible when it counts. They always manage to evade my full-power attacks.”
“So, you’re saying they’ll be fine in terms of survival?”
“Who knows? In the past, they even sacrificed their life to create a barrier over the Haiden region. In that sense, it’s impossible to predict seriously.”
“…Alright, it’s best to leave Hairen alone then.”
“That’s the only way.”
And so, I continued to share my assessments of the members.
The handling of Hairen.
Leaving them alone is the best course of action.
