第1650堀:こっちにも来てくださいって話 (Part1)
**Chapter 1650: The Matter of "Please Come Over Here, Too"**
Side: Shera
"Phew..."
I let out a long breath as I look over the documents I’ve just finished compiling.
It’s a daily occurrence, but finishing the paperwork always gives me that distinct feeling of a job well done.
In reality, of course, I still need to deliver these to the relevant departments and provide explanations, but the heavy lifting is behind me.
"Haha, I suppose I am technically on the Weed side as Yuki-san’s wife. Still, it’s a fact that things go much faster when I handle them directly rather than going through the official diplomatic channels. It’s a bit of a dilemma."
Even as I say that, I don’t truly mind it.
It allows me to keep in contact with my home country of Gartz, and naturally, I get to see my relatives.
They visit often enough that I don’t suffer from any particular loneliness, and of course, I have Yuki-san, the other wives, and my irreplaceable friends—Aslin, Firia, and Labyris.
"Well, things have been incredibly busy since the Suurus incident. Though, with the capture of the port town and the Dark Guild’s associates, things are finally starting to settle down. ...I just hope it stays quiet like this."
Well, the world is never truly at peace.
Something is always in motion.
I wouldn’t say I have enemies, but once this current workload subsides, there is no doubt that new tasks will emerge.
"I just hope they stay preoccupied with the port construction and the International Exchange School... Ah, that reminds me, there’s also the matter of the core provision Yuki-san mentioned. Perhaps that will keep everyone quiet for a while?"
I recall the "extra-large bomb" of a declaration he made regarding the provision of cores.
The various nations were shocked, and we were surprised as well, but when you think about it calmly, it isn’t a bad thing.
Naturally, it requires the premise that the recipients won't turn hostile, but in the current climate, there’s no real merit in misusing a core even if you were given one.
Father and the others mentioned with wry smiles that they’ve been stuck in back-to-back meetings ever since.
"...Regardless, even if the urgent matters have settled, there’s no doubt I’m still busy. The most important thing is to tackle the work right in front of me."
No matter how I think about it, I can’t stop the world from turning.
I can certainly devise countermeasures, but it’s obvious that if my workload increases any further, I’ll be paralyzed.
Therefore, the first step toward tranquility is to reduce the work that currently exists.
With that resolve, I stand up, clutching the documents, ready to make my rounds to the relevant departments.
"First, I’ll head to see my sister."
When I say "sister," I mean Charl-oneesama.
I rarely have reason to speak with Lowell-oneesama regarding military matters.
In fact, Lowell-oneesama usually just goes straight to Seraria-san herself.
In a sense, she moves around Weed more freely than anyone.
Sometimes I think it would be better if I just left all Gartz-related matters to her...
"Don't even think about it. You know she has the drive, but she doesn't exactly think through the finer details, does she?"
Charl-oneesama immediately shoots down the idea of making Lowell-oneesama a diplomat.
I wasn't surprised, but since she isn't exactly thoughtless, I try to push back a little.
"As you know, Charl-oneesama, I believe Lowell-oneesama is someone who properly completes what she sets out to do."
It’s true; she had been investigating the Dark Guild behind the Suurus incident long before it came to light, and she follows the proper procedures when it comes to diplomacy.
She is quite capable as a military officer, too.
"That’s true. If you force her, she’ll do what’s required. But is she optimal? No. She’ll lose interest somewhere along the way. The current arrangement is best. If the public found out that a diplomat was skipping the line to see Queen Seraria directly, our reputation would plummet. You know that she only gets away with it because she’s acting as a friend, right?"
"Ahaha, I suppose you’re right."
She’s too free-spirited, which makes her a liability as a diplomat.
The consensus of the Gartz royal family is that keeping things as they are is the best way to utilize Lowell-oneesama’s strengths.
"Anyway, I’ve checked the documents, and there are no issues. Though, I still think it’s questionable that they keep using you as a messenger, Shera."
"It’s just that things go faster in every sense when I’m the one who goes. That’s why you sent me to Weed in the first place, isn’t it?"
"Ah—well, I suppose that’s true now. At the time, there was quite a lot of opposition to sending you, but look how things have turned out."
It’s true; back then, my role was merely to serve as a return gesture to Roschur.
Now, it has become the most vital channel of communication between Weed and Gartz.
"Oh, and actually—or rather, as usual—I have a consultation regarding your position, Shera."
"Yes? Does that mean Yuki-san needs to speak with Seraria-san directly?"
"Exactly. It’s the kind of thing that’s problematic to handle through official paperwork."
It’s the sort of thing that must be handled as Weed acting autonomously.
It cannot be left in the diplomatic record, nor can it be heard by just any subordinate.
"And the content?"
"First, the target is Yuki-san. It’s not something the Queen can handle lightly. The subject is a visit to the schools."
"A visit to the schools? Yuki-san already makes regular appearances at the International Exchange School here in Weed, as well as the domestic ones, doesn't he?"
Yuki-san has always advocated for the necessity of educating children, and ever since the nation of Weed was founded, he has taken in orphans like Vilia and ensured they receive an education.
I find it hard to believe that my sisters wouldn't be aware of that...
"No, no. Look, Weed is running schools in the If Continent and the Haiden region, right?"
"Yes. But those were also intended to help us understand the local areas..."
"I know that. But thanks to that, the students there have at least caught wind of Weed’s true capabilities. According to reports from the International Exchange School, the students from the Rogari Continent and the Zuraburu region are making subtle complaints about being sent to study in Weed."
"Ah, I’ve heard about that. But is it really that much of a problem?"
I have heard as much from Eris-san and Ratz-san.
It’s not that their class attendance is poor; it’s more of a question of why Weed was chosen in the first place.
Well, there are many reasons, and we have explained them, but in the Rogari Continent, they seem to wonder why a small nation they’ve never heard of was chosen over the four great powers, and in the Zuraburu region, they share similar sentiments.
In short, it stems from them not knowing Weed’s true standing or technological prowess.
They feel it isn't a country worth learning from.
"It is a problem. More ignorant masses will be coming soon. So, to change that perception, the discussion in Father’s meetings is that Yuki-san should visit the schools in Rogari and Zuraburu to show them just how incredible Weed is."
"...Isn't that just a complaint that Yuki-san hasn't visited their schools yet? We are already instructing them to ensure there are no slights against Weed, aren't we?"
What she’s saying isn't wrong, but guiding those children is something each nation should be doing themselves.
