第1655堀:学び舎到着 (Part2)
"Haha, well, I’ll take that as a compliment. So, what exactly are we expected to teach?"
Stasia offered a hollow laugh as she sought clarification on their duties. She had heard a brief summary, but the finer details remained a complete mystery.
"Hmm. To be honest, I haven't decided on the specifics yet."
"Wait, what does that mean?"
Tori and the others tilted their heads in unison, clearly bewildered.
"This is a school for international exchange, after all. I’m not saying there won’t be any instruction in martial arts or magic, but that is secondary. Personally, I would like you to speak about Weed, but I’ll leave the exact content up to you, Yuki-dono."
"I see. I understand the premise, but is there anything in particular you want us to cover?"
"Hmm. The purpose behind building this international exchange school, perhaps. If it comes from you, Yuki-dono, it will carry much more weight. Also, perhaps touch upon our relationships—the number of great powers we’ve negotiated with. But don’t bother with which nations are strong or weak, or the extent of their territories. That only invites contempt."
"Fair point. I’ll draft an outline and hand it over later."
"Oh, that would be most appreciated. As for the others, it would be best if you spoke about your home countries and your respective lines of work. You can naturally transition into discussions of martial arts or magic from there. And, well, it would certainly help me if you could provide a written syllabus, much like Yuki-dono’s, if that isn't too much to ask?"
Well, that was to be expected. If they knew what was being taught, they could make adjustments. Ordinarily, such things should have been hashed out in a preliminary meeting, but they didn't exactly have the luxury of time.
"Understood. I’ll prepare something if time permits."
"Exactly. And speaking of whether we have the time, how many people and how many classes are we actually teaching?"
Right. As Tori and Comet pointed out, they needed to confirm the scope of their commitment.
"Ah, quite right. This was all rather rushed, and we haven't discussed the details. As for the time, I would like you to dedicate as much as you can, though I realize you have your duties in Logari, so that will be a matter of negotiation. As for the number of students, it will be three classes. Roughly sixty people."
"Sixty? That’s surprisingly high."
After all, Weed’s own international exchange school only had two classes total, covering both the younger children and the regular student body. That was the combined total for students from every participating nation. While they had secured extra rooms in anticipation of future growth, sixty students from a single nation was, frankly, impossible. Once you factored in the other countries, the total would easily exceed six hundred. The Zurable Empire was vast compared to others, allowing for a larger intake, but even so, six hundred people—including all the necessary personnel—was not a number easily realized.
"Do not concern yourself with that. I have no intention of enrolling everyone this year. This is also a preparation period. If anything, I pity those who enroll before the preparations are complete. Though, I suppose there is the honor of being the vanguard."
"Ah, I see. So it’s for the sake of the future."
"Indeed. This isn't meant to be a one-time affair, is it?"
"Well, that depends on whether this first attempt goes smoothly."
"Precisely why I am asking for your cooperation."
Just as Eupia suggested, they had no intention of letting this school be a one-off. As long as the alliance held, the school would continue. It was meant to be a place where children could foster connections as the world became more globalized. And, of course, the adults accompanying them as well. It wasn't just for a select few. Given that, Yuki had no reason to refuse.
"Understood. I’ll count on your cooperation as well. Now, what should we talk about with those three classes first? Or do we have a bit of time?"
"Indeed. I thought we would spend today touring the school, introduce you tomorrow at noon, and begin instruction in the afternoon."
As they spoke, the students finished changing and returned to the reception room.
"Now then, shall we begin the tour of the schoolhouse while we talk?"
And so, they began their formal inspection of the facilities. Zurable was certainly looking far ahead with the construction of this school. Whether it would succeed or not remained to be seen.
