"I imagine you’ve heard the rumors, but I’ve received permission to expand into the southern region. I’ve asked Reye, Deryu’s younger brother, to act as my proxy and assistant. Though, we haven't even finished selecting the land yet, let alone opened discussions with the southern towns."
"I see, I see. I knew Tori and the others were making preparations in the northern town, but I hadn't realized things had progressed that far."
"Well, considering what we’ve achieved in just a few days, it’s impressive. Weed is ready to move at a moment's notice, but the preparations on the Oue side are lagging. We’ve sent out a fast courier to the south, but even then, it’ll take a few days to get a response."
"Haha, compared to the speed of Weed, that’s the case everywhere. It’s better than being underprepared, so let’s call that a win."
"True enough."
It wasn't that Weed was unprepared for the New Continent. In this instance, we had been ready for a while, given that there were various suspicious signs beforehand. That said, the combat zones were so vast that we were struggling to cover them all, which had become a point of contention. Beyond the fighting, there were various diplomatic gears turning as well... and with that, I remembered something.
"Ratz. You’re currently in a holding pattern regarding the Oue side, but have you heard about the developments in Weed?"
"In Weed? Oh, are you talking about the completion party for Glass Port Town? Has that finally started moving in earnest?"
"Yeah. The Adventurer Guild seized a dungeon in a remote village, and this is to follow up on that."
"Is that on Nina’s end? Oh, come to think of it, didn't someone come from the Adventurer Guild headquarters?"
"Exactly. They discovered a hidden dungeon while subjugating a powerful monster. For now, they’ve only reported it to the Guild headquarters, but since the report originated from a branch, there’s a high probability that information has already leaked to the Usano and Aue Kingdoms."
"In that case, we should move the completion party up to act as a catalyst, shouldn't we? Does that mean I need to prepare the resort side of Glass Port Town as well?"
"That’s right. Think you can handle it?"
For Ratz, this meant balancing the preparations for Oue while simultaneously readying the hotel in Glass Port Town. There was no way this wouldn't be an immense burden.
"Ah, I said 'prepare' in such a grand way, but in reality, the party at Glass Port Town was anticipated from the start. I’ve been working on it for a long time. You knew that, right?"
"I knew that. I just didn't know how far along those preparations actually were."
"Well, that’s why you’re worried, isn't it, Brother? As it stands, everything is set to the point where we could hold the party at any time."
"You had it ready that far in advance?"
"The port development started with the Suurus incident, after all. That was before we even started dealing with the rumors about the remote village in the Usano Kingdom."
"Ah, that’s right. Sis-a and Sona weren't exactly in a rush, either."
"Migration to the port town has already begun, so that shouldn't be an issue. If there’s anything I need to do personally, it’s just checking the current status and discussing the menu and such with you, Seraria, and the other diplomatic members, based on who attends."
Yes, hearing her say it, it sounded like there was only a little left to do—or rather, it sounded manageable. However, depending on the circumstances, the remaining tasks were incredibly demanding. But, it’s an unspoken rule not to mention that. If I said the wrong thing, I’d end up getting dragged into that work myself.
"I’m currently being told to help write the invitations. I think we’ll have to wait a week to see which countries will attend."
"Haha, it’s absurd to expect responses in a week for inviting dignitaries from various nations. Usually, that’s a matter that requires months of coordination."
"That’s where we have the Gate to thank."
Since we can move literally in an instant, we don't have to worry about the hardships of travel. Usually, in stories, trouble happens on the road, but we don't have to deal with that. And so, with that, preparations on both the Oue side and the Weed side continued steadily.
Now, it’s time for tax returns. It’s a troublesome season for writers and those with side jobs. Of course, for those running businesses, it’s a massive undertaking. You can't just wing the budget, after all. It really is a pain.
