Chapter 1794: Final Checks
Side: Shera
"Hmm, hmm. What a fine spot. So, this is a natural ocean."
Standing there with hands on hips, planted firmly on the sandy shore, is my older sister, Lowel—known to many as the Shield Princess of Gartz.
"Sister. Could you please refrain from wandering off the tour route so suddenly?"
"Exactly. Sister Lowel, you’re making things difficult for Shera, so please stop."
Charl, my other sister, chimes in to defend me.
"Oh, come now, don't be like that. Even for you, Charl, this is your first time seeing a natural ocean, isn't it?"
Lowel-aneesama remains entirely unfazed.
Well, I suppose that’s exactly what makes her who she is...
"It is my first time, yes, but since we agreed to set aside time for that later, please don't trouble Shera. Besides, to be perfectly honest, the ocean within Weed is arguably more impressive."
"Ah, you're right. It certainly looks better."
"Of course it does. It was designed with the famous resort beaches of Yuki-san’s homeland in mind."
Compared to the emerald-green waters of the tropics, the beach at Glass Port Town does fall a bit short. However...
"But there’s a certain charm to this ruggedness. Weed is a wonderful environment for people to enjoy, but... well, my apologies. Now, where to next?"
"No, the first stop is the hotel."
"Exactly. You were the one who took the detour, Sister."
Why is she acting as if she were the one being guided? She was the one who wandered off on her own whim.
"Hahaha! Well, what does it matter? You and I are family, Shera. Besides, we’re here for a trial run, aren't we?"
"That is correct. Since no one else has tested this, I asked you to represent the group. That said, please don't just vanish from the tour again."
"Look on the bright side. We’ve identified a potential issue beforehand. I’m sure there are plenty of people who would want to see the raw, untamed ocean."
"Sigh... Understood. I’ll adjust the tour route accordingly."
"Good. That’s the spirit."
"Sorry about that, Shera."
"It’s quite alright, Charl-aneesama."
"Yes, yes. Everyone makes mistakes."
" "It’s all Sister’s fault!" "
Honestly, this woman...
She’s so magnificent on the battlefield, yet why is she like this in everyday life?
"Ah-ha-ha! I hear you both, but you’re far too tense. Isn't this a place for enjoyment?"
"...I hate to admit it when it comes from you, Lowel-aneesama, but you're right."
"Why is she so strangely accurate when it counts...?"
"Well, I doubt Shera will make such blunders during the actual event, but this land itself is a novelty to the nations of the Intercontinental Alliance. Keep the walking to the free time. Not everyone will be as vocal or prone to stopping as I am."
"I see. We’re taking a bus to Glass Port Town, so perhaps we should stick to bus travel within the town as well?"
"That’s the idea. Even you, Charl, had plenty of places you wanted to stop and look at, didn't you?"
"I certainly did have many things I wished to see."
I see. For those who are truly interested, a walking tour might not be the most efficient approach. It seems we need to arrive at the hotel by bus first, then offer either free time or a guided walking tour as an option.
Hmm, Lowel-aneesama is surprisingly sharp.
Though, I still think she’s a bit of an airhead...
"So, about that hotel—is it that tall tower over there?"
"It looks like a government building, doesn't it?"
"Yes, that’s the one. But unlike the government buildings Charl-aneesama mentioned, it doesn't house various agencies. Almost every floor is dedicated to the hotel and its accommodations."
"The entire tower is a hotel?! The view from the roof must be spectacular."
"I can guarantee that."
I was stunned when I first saw it from the pool. It felt like a world in the heavens. Even if you can fly, you rarely reach such altitudes, and one doesn't usually fly just for the sake of play.
Well, when Yuki-san taught me how to fly, I spent plenty of time doing just that.
...No, that’s different. The goal was high-speed movement, using solidified mana as a foothold to run through the air.
As I was lost in thought, Charl-aneesama, who had been studying the hotel's exterior, spoke up.
"From the outside, to maintain that size all the way to that height... Such architectural prowess. The technology at Yuki-sama’s place is truly in a league of its own."
Yes, I agree. Though, that building was only possible thanks to the "Dig-Dig-Dog" ability Yuki-san possesses as a Dungeon Master. With Weed’s current level of technology, it would be quite difficult to replicate.
The Fairies and Dwarves living in Weed are studying Earth’s architecture, but they say that simply creating the structural foundation for such a building is a massive hurdle. They haven't yet established a method for erecting vertical pillars dozens of meters high.
Well, they could build scaffolding and bring in machinery, but they lack the machines themselves. There’s talk of having high-level, physically strong individuals carry the materials, but then the question arises: is it worth using such talented people for construction?
If they have the strength to carry heavy building materials, they would likely have a brighter future making a name for themselves as soldiers or adventurers. Unless, of course, they have a personal passion for architecture.
"Well, they’re learning as they go, aren't they?"
"Yes, they are researching how to adapt those techniques for our own capabilities. Not just in architecture, but in agriculture, medicine, and other fields as well."
Weed’s foundational technology is widely shared with the nations of the Intercontinental Alliance. Yuki-san hopes that as the base level of technology rises, we will eventually catch up to Earth’s standards, and perhaps even combine it with our own magic-based techniques to create something entirely unique.
Though, I know he’s already developing various things with researchers and technicians like Taizo-san, Comet-san, Narjia-san, and Agil-san.
Ah, speaking of which, Filia has been working on various things for a long time now. She’s become a magnificent blacksmith, metallurgist, and enchanter. She inherited Narjia-san’s techniques perfectly, and her skills are enough to make your head spin.
Lately, she’s been kind enough to keep things within reasonable limits, but in the past, she’s caused quite a bit of trouble by showing off her work.
At least she doesn't install self-destruct mechanisms like Narjia-san does. That’s a relief.
"My expertise is in combat, so I’ll leave the rest to you and Charl."
"Honestly, Lowel-aneesama... I suppose that’s just like her."
"Indeed."
