"Yes. While the educational period is not particularly long, we are created by you, Yuki-sama, as adults. Once we have mastered the necessary skills and gained a degree of proficiency, the rest is simply a matter of learning the terrain."
"That is something I find quite enviable."
"Indeed. No matter how much one tries to force skills upon humans, there is little one can do about the heart."
"Well, it is precisely because they possess a heart that they are often capable of adapting to unforeseen circumstances."
My monster soldiers are convenient, yet there are many ways in which they are anything but. The most prominent of these is the matter of the heart. Since my orders are their absolute priority, there is no room for emotion to intervene—but that very lack is, in itself, a potential flaw. That is why Kirika’s intelligence unit, which operates by blending into human society, likely struggles with that specific type of education. Even Steve and his subordinates have concluded that when it comes to the heart, it is better to interact with the people of Weed.
"I see. I suppose it cuts both ways. It is a problem if they follow orders they shouldn't even want to carry out, isn't it?"
"Now that you mention it, that is true. Because they have hearts, they learn to think for themselves. It is a complicated matter."
"Humans don't live by efficiency alone. It is because they have room to spare that they are human."
In fact, that is true of all living things. It may not be a matter of emotion, but I suspect that fish climbed onto land and birds took to the skies because they had the luxury to do so. If one sought only efficiency, one would never reach such conclusions. But, setting aside theories of evolution and perfection...
"So, how many can you deploy?"
"Let’s see. Five are available... but considering the scale, I believe three are necessary. One to accompany Baron Siana, one to split off for intelligence gathering, and one for support. The remaining two could be assigned elsewhere, kept in reserve for emergencies, or brought along to gather information on a broader front."
"They are all veterans, aren't they?"
"Yes. They have already experienced intelligence gathering in the field and are quite capable in combat. While they do not reach the level of Steve and his men, they are on par with the lower ranks of the adjutant class. Therefore, even against local powerhouses, they should have no trouble if they focus solely on evasion."
If they are that capable, I can entrust them with quite a lot.
"And their handling of various tools?"
"They are well-versed in both modern weaponry and magical armaments. They can also utilize teleportation magic, allowing for a swift withdrawal should the need arise."
"So there are no concerns on that front, either..."
"In that case, shouldn't we decide on those individuals?"
"I agree. Especially since they are experienced."
The two of them seem satisfied, and I have no objections. The only thing remaining is the matter of their deployment...
"Can they be used as an advance detachment?"
"Of course, that is not a problem. However, I see—creating a separate unit to gather information is a sound strategy."
"Indeed. It would provide a perspective different from simply blending into Baron Siana’s army. If there is room, I would like to have the perspective of a commoner as well."
"Yes, that is important. Though, the safety of Baron Siana and her party must remain the top priority."
"If it comes to it, can they pivot to provide support?"
"Yes. As a separate detachment, they would be able to maneuver flexibly in such situations."
Hearing Kirika’s reply, everyone nods. The decision is made.
"Then, assemble them immediately. I will have them confirm the route from the drone to the Giadana Kingdom, and I will leave the operation of those units to you as well."
"Understood. If I am permitted to use aerial reconnaissance, I will be able to gather information with even greater precision."
With those words, Kirika vanishes. She is likely off to brief the intelligence department.
"Now, as for Kagura and Mikos serving as envoys..."
"They will likely have a standard escort, so that should be fine."
"The real question is whether Mikos-sama will succeed."
This is less of a problem and more a matter of how well things will go. Well, that only goes to show how highly Seraria and the others regard Kagura and Mikos. They have the necessary skills, so they should be able to handle the combat side of things.
With that, the schedule for the future of the New Continent is mostly finalized. All that remains is to pray that things go well. Ah, by the way, the southern wilderness is still under investigation.
Finally, the members to infiltrate the Giadana Kingdom—or rather, the Church—have been decided. Instead of the main members, I am deploying Kirika’s subordinates.
