"As far as I’m concerned, if they’re going to visit a public establishment, I’d prefer they adhere to common social standards. But since we’re unfamiliar with each other’s ways of life, mutual understanding is a difficult hurdle to clear."
"Brother, regarding that, we’ve already provided explanations upon their entry into the hotel and Weed. The guards and attendants are well-informed, so I believe we can manage."
"Indeed. While it’s not as if we’ve had zero trouble in Weed, such incidents are few and far between."
"I see. So, Weed has a proven track record. In that case, there’s little to worry about. You’re following Weed’s know-how, right?"
"Yes. We’ve borrowed police and military personnel from Weed, and they’ve been providing us with guidance."
I nodded along. After all, Glass Port Town is, for all intents and purposes, Weed’s territory. While I’ve entrusted the governance to Sisua and Sona, I never forbade them from emulating Weed, and I’m always willing to offer my cooperation. In that sense, the maintenance of public order is no different from our own. We’re even monitoring the dungeon.
"Then there’s nothing to worry about. Tori and Ria are likely aware of the situation as well. That leaves the fishing port and the Adventurer’s Guild. Come to think of it, the guild is operational, isn't it?"
"Yes. I meet with Guild Master Kina every day to receive her reports."
"To that extent?"
"We’ve tasked the adventurers with clearing out the monsters surrounding Glass Port Town, including the coastline. While the military handles the beach and the waters within the town limits, we’ve left the outskirts to the adventurers. We’ve also entrusted them with gathering intelligence on monster activity, and we’re quite keen on that information."
"Since we’re expecting nobility, we’ve made specific requests, and they’ve been performing their duties diligently."
Sisua and Sona provided a detailed account of their coordination with the Adventurer’s Guild. Now that they mention it, I do recall making those requests. I’d completely forgotten, as I’ve been entirely preoccupied with Milly and the Grand Master’s investigation into the town in the Oosa Kingdom where the missing persons cases originated.
"Ah, that’s right. I’d completely forgotten about that with all the focus on the disappearance cases. Still, it’s good to know Kina is doing a solid job."
As I let those words slip—evidently having forgotten about it myself—a voice chimed in.
"That’s right. You’d better be grateful to me. Besides, thanks to that whole affair, Milly and Rock have been swamped, and I’ve essentially been helping out on the Weed side of things too. It’s the exact opposite of how things were back then."
It seems the woman of the hour, Kina, had arrived.
"Oh, good work. Well, I suppose that situation couldn't be helped."
"I suppose not. The situation over there is massive and still ongoing. That said, it’s not exactly a walk in the park over here, either."
"But things are stable, aren't they?"
"Naturally. I’ve only allowed carefully vetted adventurers in. I certainly don’t need any trouble cropping up, especially during the party."
"Hm? Kina, that sounds like you’re still letting adventurers in on the day of the event?"
It was Eris, not my brother, who posed the question. I shared the same doubt.
"Initially, the plan was to have the adventurers head to Weed, but after consulting with Sisua and Sona, we decided to have them stand guard against the monsters in the surrounding area."
"Guard duty?"
"The dungeon system keeps the immediate few kilometers under patrol, but sudden monster spawns or migrations happen. I mean, that was a common occurrence on Weed’s surface, wasn't it?"
"Ah, that’s true."
It is. While we monitor the surface of Weed, we don’t actively manage areas outside of human habitation. And since the location is near the mountain ranges and forests surrounding Last, which is governed by Liliana, monster incursions are a frequent reality. In such cases, we mobilize soldiers, but we also rely on the adventurers for assistance.
"I see. So it’s the same as over there."
"Exactly. Besides, the monsters here are high-level. If they were to act strangely and cause harm to the visiting nobility, that would be a disaster. We have a branch office here, after all, and I’m determined to prevent it from failing."
"My, my. It seems the Guild Master has grown quite fond of this place."
"It’s tough, but it’s rewarding."
With that, we continued to gather information on the Glass Port Town Adventurer’s Guild, and after hearing about the fishing port from Yayui, the preparations were finally falling into place.
Glass Port Town was ready for the party.
The only remaining question was how to handle the connection to the missing persons cases. How would the Grand Master and the others proceed? And how would Yuki respond?
