Chapter 22: Career Board
My jobless level hit 99, so I checked how my stats had improved compared to before.
I’d jotted down the old data in a notebook, so I dug it out from the pile of rubble that used to be my house and compared it with the raw, unadjusted numbers.
Jobless Lv1 → Jobless Lv99
HP 44/44 → HP 70/70
MP ∞/∞ → MP ∞/∞
Strength 14 → Strength 24
Defense 10 → Defense 19
Magic Defense 16 → Magic Defense 23
Agility 11 → Agility 20
Dexterity 13 → Dexterity 25
Intelligence 18 → Intelligence 25
Luck 21 → Luck 32
Looking at this, it’s clear that maxing out as Jobless boosted my total by about 100. MP’s infinite, so I can’t tell how much it went up, but the total’s probably around that.
Anyway, I figure using a Career Board’ll boost my stats even more… but…
Only “R (Rare)” items show Y/N when touched—meaning only these ten job boards are usable.
Warrior Mage Monk Fighter
Beast Tamer Blacksmith Thief Archer
Explorer Hunter
Which one should I pick…? I thought for a moment, then decided. Yeah, this’ll do. I touched the board, and pressed Y on the floating Y/N that appeared.
Mage Lv1
HP 70/70
MP ∞/∞
Strength 24
Defense 19
Magic Defense 23
Agility 20
Dexterity 25
Intelligence 25
Luck 32
[Career Skill]
Magic Rank F
Became a Mage. Level reset to 1, but stats stayed the same. And now there’s this “Career Skill” added. If this Magic rank goes up, I might get even better at magic.
I figured I’d start leveling up right away, so I took off into the sky, scouting for monsters… and then something came flying toward me.
"Is that a monster too!?"
Some giant bird, but parts of its body are rotting—like a zombie bird made of decay.
I try to intercept it with lightning magic… but miss! No choice but to close in and slam it into the ground with "Gravity Press."
After taking down a few of these bird monsters, I land and dispatch a dozen or so humanoid zombies—but unlike when I was jobless, leveling up isn’t easy anymore.
Eventually, I spent over a week surviving on rations from the shelter, grinding my way up to Level 99 as a Mage. Even this is fast—thanks to "Growth Acceleration," I guess.
My stats after leveling up:
Mage Lv99
HP 70/70 → 122/122
MP ∞/∞
Strength 24 → 48
Defense 19 → 33
Magic Defense 23 → 63
Agility 20 → 40
Dexterity 25 → 81
Intelligence 25 → 105
Luck 32 → 56
[Class Skills]
Magic Rank F → Rank C
My Magic Rank is now C, and my total stats have surged by nearly 300 points.
And now that I’ve raised my Magic Rank, two things stand out.
First: only Wind, Fire, Water, and Earth magic improve naturally—everything else doesn’t. Second: the levels of Wind, Fire, and Water magic have increased.
So that means, for Wind, Fire, Water, and Earth, I can actually *gain* "Magic (I)" as I level up through this class board.
Which suggests that other class boards might also grant "Magic" or "Skills" as I progress. So if that’s true, then the class boards I thought were "bad luck" in the Gacha… might actually be *more valuable* than I thought.
And finally—something I’ve been itching to test: Can you become the same class twice?
If I could do this job twice, I’d make good use of this overused board… and maybe push my magic rank past “C”… if I’m lucky.
Touching the surface of the职业 board labeled "Mage" like that, the display flickered to show Y/N.
Even if I somehow became a "mage" again... this time, all the stats and magic rank I painstakingly raised might just reset...
Well, guess I’ll just have to grind it up again… I thought, pressing the “Y” button.
