Chapter 25: SR's Job Board

Chapter 25: SR's Job Board

Pull out a few job boards and check them over. While I was hesitating over which job to pick next, I noticed something on SR's job board—Y/N displayed.

"Wise One" and "Great Mage." I guessed "Wise One" probably meant I’d maxed out both mage and monk skills, and "Great Mage" must’ve been unlocked when my magic rank hit "A."

Of course, I figured the next step would be one of these two… but which one should I choose…?

After a moment’s thought, I touched the surface of the board.

Great Mage Lv1

HP 306/306

MP ∞/∞

Strength 125

Defense 79

Magic Defense 177

Agility 95

Dexterity 212

Intelligence 317

[Job Skills]

Magic Rank A

Healing Arts Rank C

Composite Magic Rank F

I picked "Great Mage" because I still really want to specialize in offensive magic.

The Great Mage’s job skill is "Composite Magic"...? Not sure what that does, but it sounds seriously powerful!

I headed out to level up as usual, and then—something clicked.

"Wait a second… I’ve got "Identification," so can I identify this monster too?"

My identification level’s high. I figured I could try, so I used "Identification" before killing the monster.

So this thing was an Undead all along… I’d always thought it was just a zombie…? Huh. What’s the difference between a zombie and an Undead, anyway? Eh, whatever… more importantly, it’s an Undead, yet it’s got HP. That’s weird.

After that, I went back to my usual grind, hunting nonstop for leveling. I slaughtered undead for about two weeks straight, but my level just wouldn’t go up.

If I were only thinking about stat growth, the SR class would be pretty inefficient. But then again, that’s probably why the 【Profession Skill】 is so powerful…

The Great Mage’s “Compound Magic” combines five elements—wind, fire, water, earth, and lightning—into a single, more powerful spell.

For example, mixing wind and fire creates an explosion, while fire and earth together produce lava. These are advanced spells that even regular mages couldn’t handle, and they’re perfect for taking down enemies.

Maybe, once I get higher rank, I’ll be able to include “light” and “darkness” in the compound magic too…

After killing a decent number of undead, I got tired and went home. My own house is collapsed now, so I’ve been squatting in a half-destroyed apartment in the same prefecture that’s under evacuation orders.

It’s an emergency, so I guess they’ll let it slide.

While sleeping, I suddenly felt something off—woke up instantly. The sky was just starting to lighten… “Enemy Detection” was going off.

Using “Thousand-Mile Eye,” I scanned the area from above. A small, blinking light flickered from the elementary school being used as a shelter.

The Self-Defense Force was firing at something. Getting closer, I saw a bunch of monsters I’d never seen before attacking the shelter.

I tried using “Thousand-Mile Eye” to perform “Identification.” First time doing it… can I even pull it off?

“Whoa! Did it!”

Undead (Upper Tier)

Magic Defense 160

Agility 110

【Skill】 Magic Resistance (III)

Higher-tier undead... and magic resistance too?! Seriously... are there even more of these...?

A pain in the ass for me, since I use magic. But still... can't just leave her like this.

I tore a hole in space and teleported straight to the shelter!
