Chapter 84: Light of Judgment
Freyja and Leo, hovering in midair, along with other members of the Sanctuary Knights, watch the situation unfold. But—
"VOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"
The roar of the Flame Dragon King blows away the smoke shrouding his form! That piercing scream tears a hole through the clouds, the earth trembles, and we can barely stand.
When the Flame Dragon King’s roar finally fades, the flying dragon carrying Freyja and Leo lands before us.
"Greese, how’s it look!?"
Leo asks Greese, but Greese’s face is pale.
"Can’t… it’s not taking any damage… not even close…"
Despair spreads across Leo’s face. But the real despair comes next. The ground begins to shake, answering the Flame Dragon King’s roar.
Looking around, the hills we’ve always seen—massive, towering mounds—start cracking one after another. Something’s emerging from within.
A horde of massive, four-legged dragons with armored shells pour out! Each one’s at least forty meters tall. They all move toward us in unison.
"Greese… what the hell are those!?"
Receiving Leo’s question, Greese activates his鉴定.
"Earth Dragon… level over 2000!! Incredible defense. What do we do, boss!?"
That wasn’t all. From above, black masses approach—swarms of dragons descending in overwhelming numbers. It’s like every dragon in England is gathering here.
"Yo, yo… this is bad, Leo! We’re gonna get surrounded if we stay here!!"
Leo grimaces at Luca’s words. After biting his lip, he shouts at us!
"Retreat! Get out of here before we’re surrounded!!"
Everyone agreed it was unavoidable—except one person.
“Leo!!”
Freyja’s face was twisted with a fury she’d never shown before.
“Freyja… please understand, we have to retreat. Wait for another chance…”
“…No. Not this time.”
Freyja sprinted forward, leapt onto the dragon, and took off instantly!
“Freyja! Don’t go!!”
Leo’s voice didn’t reach her. She flew straight toward the Flame Dragon King.
“Wang!”
“What is it, Gojo?”
“Get everyone to safety. As far away as possible.”
“…Got it. Be careful.”
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Flying straight toward the Dragon’s “Leader”—no plan, no hope of victory.
Just one thing: that dragon… the one who killed my family, my friends, stole my country… I’ve lived only to kill you. That’s all I’ve ever wanted.
As she neared the “Leader,” the heat seared her body. Breathing burned her throat… but she didn’t care. Even if her body turned to ash, it’d be worth it—just to kill this dragon!
“Sword of Georgius… lend me your power!”
She poured every ounce of magic into the blade! It blazed, transforming into a sword of light ten times brighter—charging straight at the Dragon’s “Leader.”
When the dragon’s face loomed right in front of her, she raised the sword high! This was the strongest—this was the final attack—
“—Sacred Dragon Steel Severing Sword (Ascalon)—!!”
The massive blade struck the “Leader” dead center! The light exploded, swallowing everything around.
The light slowly faded, and as the dragon’s face came into view... there was nothing but a faint scar.
The Dragon King shook his head, opened his mouth, and locked onto me. Power gathered, flames spilling from within. I couldn’t dodge anymore... not even a little.
Ah, no... I failed. Sorry, everyone...
“Freyjaaaa!!”
I thought I heard Leo’s voice. I closed my eyes, waiting for it.
“Tch... reckless as always.”
“Huh?”
Still alive? In front of me—Gojo.
“Why?”
I was stunned, but slowly my mind cleared. Then I stared, disbelief clawing at my throat.
Floating...? Gojo was floating right in front of me.
Wind magic? No... Leo couldn’t do something like that! What the hell is this guy...?
“Saving you’s one thing. But dragging a whole flying dragon along? That’s a real pain.”
“...You saved me? Gojo?”
“Leave the rest to me. Freyja, get back.”
With that, Gojo shot straight toward the “Leader.”
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
“What the hell’s going on!?”
Alexander shouted, stunned. Yeah, no kidding—Gojo had just vanished, then appeared midair, pulling Freyja out of the fireball the “Leader” had fired.
How is he floating? When did he dodge the fireball? The questions piled up—but even more mind-boggling was... how the hell did he *teleport* right there?!
“Leo, does Gojo really help Freyja even if she’s up against the ‘Leader’?”
Lucas was right. Was I overthinking it? But Gojo… he’s just too much of a mystery. After helping Freyja, Gojo just flew straight toward the “Leader.”
“What the hell is he planning?”
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
I rocket toward the Dragon King. The heat radiating from the Dragon King—“Leader”—is unbearable.
Any normal human would’ve burned to death just standing near.
You can’t defeat this monster with magic or swordplay… the only thing that might actually hurt it is “Meteor Impact.” But hitting something that’s flying through the sky? Impossible.
Better go for something more reliable…
I unleash all my magic at once, spreading out a massive spell circle. My body feels like it’s being drained dry… like my life force is being sucked out.
The Dragon King glares at me—pure, unfiltered murder in his eyes! This is it… there’s no other way!
The giant spell circle blazes to life, shooting a pillar of light straight into the sky! An insane amount of “mana” floods out—air itself seems to scream.
“Summon! ——— Come on!!”
“——— TITAN ———!!”
