Chapter 107: Natural Enemy
The damage from Meteor Strike and the unholy realm of the dead—Helheim—is slowly healing. Can’t stop the attack. Gotta keep piling on!
I raise my right hand to the sky, gathering magic above me.
A massive ball of flame rises above the tower, glowing fiercely, waiting for the moment to be unleashed. I swing my arm down with a sudden burst of force.
"Inferno! The ultimate hellfire!!!"
A fireball plummeted from above, straight down at the "tower," swallowing it whole in a massive pillar of flame.
But the tower… it’s regenerating bit by bit, even as it burns. Standing before this abnormal state—destruction and rebirth happening at once—I realize I’ve been underestimating the tower’s regenerative power all along.
The air’s still thick with fine dust—using a wind spell to swirl it up with the flame column, I create a powerful inferno tornado.
"Composite Magic — Wind of the Great Burning Hell — (Inferno Aelas)!!"
The scorching tornado, tearing through the surface and stretching up into the distant sky, is burning the entire "tower" to cinders. But the heat isn’t enough—can’t stop the regeneration completely.
The power of magic humans use... seems to have its limits.
"Can't help it... I didn't really want to use it, but..."
I didn’t wanna do it—knew it’d be a pain later—but there’s no time to hold back. Hit it hard before the meteor impact damage heals!
My body erupts with massive amounts of magic energy, and a giant sigil forms. From the pillar of light rising high into the sky, the monster begins to materialize.
Come on!!! —Titan!!! —
The giant red-bodied monster lands on French soil with a deafening crash. The ground turns to scorching magma, and with every step, the earth trembles.
The worm-like creatures buried underground seem to scream in agony, silent but writhing. Still, they surge forward, forming into clusters, shooting out like tentacles from beneath the earth to attack the giant.
But the tentacles wrapping around the giant swell like bloated water balloons—then burst into flames.
Titan tears them off, plunges his hands into the magma, and pulls out a massive axe, as tall as he is. He lifts it slowly, deliberately.
With a roar that splits the air, he brings it down—shattering the tower’s edge, blasting the entire structure into the sky. Dust explodes upward, billowing into the heavens.
"…Yeah, I knew it…"
The ground melts, and the worm-like monsters deep underground are burned beyond repair, unable to regenerate.
With the entire area now molten magma, the creatures trying to crawl out writhing in agony, their bodies twisted in torment.
For this "tower," Titan is the ultimate predator.
The scorching giant takes another step forward, toward the tower.
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Even from a distance, the camera footage clearly shows the red giant. But people all over the world, staring at the video, had no idea what was happening—just confusion. Amidst all that—
【U.S. Central Military, Tampa, Florida】
"What the hell is going on!?"
A dozen soldiers huddle around a tablet, staring at the screen. Even the others, not part of our unit, have abandoned their duties, each glued to their own live feed.
"Joshua… this, uh… this is definitely a giant, right?"
"Yeah… I guess it is."
"Why the hell are you in France!? And this size…!"
Tiny compared to the tower, but if you think about it in contrast, it’s unimaginably huge. And I’ve never seen a red giant like this before.
Just as I’m thinking that, a man mutters.
"…Titan."
"What?"
He’s Fred, recently transferred from the Northern Army to this Central Army.
"…I took part in the Titan extermination campaign. Most of the others died… but I survived."
Fred presses his trembling shoulders.
"No doubt about it. That size… that red body spewing magma… I still dream about it. That demonic shape…"
If that really is a Titan… there’s only one person I can think of fighting it right now. The man who appeared alongside the giant… who saved us…
"You’re fighting… Gojo."
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
The Titan raises its axe high. Swarms of worms, bursting from the tower and underground, wrap around it like tentacles.
Even the tower itself recognizes the danger.
The Titan tears the worm-like tendrils apart with brute force, unbothered, and charges the tower. The base, struck by the "Destruction Axe," explodes like a volcano—molten magma splattering out in a thick, oozing mess.
We have to keep attacking while it’s taking damage. I spread a massive magic circle in front of me, pouring in torrents of magic energy.
Scorching magical particles overflow from the circle.
"Summon—!! Flame Dragon King Shiva!!!"
A colossal fiery dragon appears with a thunderous roar, splitting the air. It spreads its massive wings, locking eyes on the grotesque "tower" before it.
"Shiva! Blow that tower to pieces!!"
The Fire Dragon King gathers immense magical power within its mouth. It unleashes a torrent of flames straight at the "tower" in one explosive burst.
The fireball hits dead center. A colossal explosion erupts—so massive it swallows the entire tower whole. As the flames and smoke gradually subside, the tower is revealed, its surface cracked and ruined across vast areas.
Even the Fire Dragon King isn't safe—the mass of worms surges up from underground at blinding speed.
The Fire Dragon King flares its wings wide, lifting itself into the air, then incinerates the oncoming worm "tentacles" with a scorching breath of flame.
Stronger than any fire I could conjure. The burned tentacles go limp, collapsing lifelessly to the ground.
The Fire Dragon King’s attack is more than enough for the tower.
I pour even more magic from my body. My entire frame screams in agony, but I can’t stop now.
I focus every nerve, building the summoning circle.
"Come to me, unleash your power!! Summoning—"
Dark clouds descend from above, pressing down with tense, suffocating air. Black magic particles spew from the circle, and the mightiest dragon reveals itself.
"——Divine Dragon Hydra—!!!"
The three-headed dragon roars skyward, a deafening cry. A rift tears through the dark clouds, which then scatter, letting light pour through.
Surrounded by three "Leaders," the tower is clearly at maximum crisis—extending countless tentacles from underground, trying to block the attack.
And most of them are aimed straight at Hydra.
The tentacles come rushing at me like a wave, fast and relentless—and Hydra doesn’t even flinch. She lifts her three heads high. Opens her mouth. Light gathers inside, swirling, intense.
“Annihilate!!!”
The beam she fires vaporizes the oncoming tentacles, then smashes straight into the tower. A streak of light pierces through the tower’s core, stretching all the way to the distant back.
The massive hole in the tower? Won’t heal easy.
Titan. Shiva. Hydra… all three attacks are crippling the tower’s regeneration. Yeah, no doubt—this crap works way better than my magic.
Finish it now—right here, right now!
