Elven Village Siege: Phase VII
Potimas' Perspective
Initiating Type Omega.
The decision was not without hesitation.
Type Omega is a combat unit specialized against Guri-edist Dyes.
Explicitly stated: its compatibility with Ariel is poor.
Whether it can function within a magical interference barrier remains uncertain. Yet, the target possesses gluttony.
The internal energy reserve of Type Omega is vast.
Yet, it is not infinite.
Prolonged combat will eventually deplete it. External interference will accelerate consumption.
Gluttony may absorb even the unit's internal energy.
I myself have not fully analyzed all its skills.
Even with a magical interference barrier, complacency is unwise.
Regardless, Type Omega cannot be defeated by Ariel due to poor compatibility alone.
Type Omega's combat capabilities, converted to stat values, equate to Physical Attack 150,000, Physical Defense 100,000, Speed 150,000.
Ariel's precise stats cannot be determined due to interference from the Sovereign Authority's鉴定 inhibition, but they are unlikely to exceed 100,000.
Thus, a straightforward superiority in strength should be decisive.
Indeed, Ariel is being overwhelmed by Type Omega.
"Haaah!"
On the monitor, Ariel shouts, thrusting a punch forward.
Type Omega effortlessly evades.
Countering, it drives its arm straight into Ariel's body.
Not just an arm.
Type Omega's limb rotates like a drill, carving through Ariel's form.
Flesh and blood are shredded, reducing Ariel's small body further in mass.
Forced to retreat, Ariel's abdomen has lost half its mass.
The drill was the result of calculations on the most efficient method of attack when facing a deity.
Cutting simply reattaches the severed surface immediately.
Blunt force allows the crushed tissue to regenerate fully.
Piercing is limited in the area it can damage.
Against a creature capable of regenerating from total disintegration, physical methods yield little effect.
Unless the force of destruction is sufficient to obliterate the body entirely.
Yet excessive destructive force incurs energy loss.
Whether for offense or defense, energy is consumed.
To deliver an attack consuming 100 units of energy, the defender must expend an equivalent 100 units to counter it.
The equation does not hold so simply when intrinsic physical resilience is factored in.
Regardless, the higher the attacker's strength, the greater the energy required for defense.
Yet this changes at a certain threshold.
Beyond that point, it becomes more energy-efficient to absorb the attack and recover from the damage than to defend against it.
Consider it logically.
A creature capable of regenerating even from shattered fragments.
In other words, it stores enough internal energy to withstand fragmentation.
If regeneration from complete disintegration requires 10,000 units of energy, then sustaining an attack of 10,001 units—rather than expending 10,001 units in defense—results in a net savings of one energy unit.
In contrast, the attacking side must expend 10,001 units of energy to reduce the defender’s energy by 10,000.
The attack, intended to be efficient, instead results in a greater energy expenditure.
This phenomenon explains why allocating excessive energy to offense against the divine is suboptimal.
An attack method that maintains low cost while forcing the opponent to expend energy is preferable.
The drill achieves excellent efficiency in this regard.
Energy expenditure can be adjusted according to the target’s defensive strength. If penetration is achieved, severe damage can be inflicted.
The greater the injury, the more energy required for recovery.
Against gods capable of revival even from shattered forms, this approach may seem ineffective. Yet such costs accumulate over time.
Low cost, high return.
Yet the return is certain to be greater.
And Ariel is not a god.
On a stage designed with gods in mind, Ariel—no god—cannot overcome even the compatibility with Type Omega.
My concern is the wasteful expenditure of Type Omega’s internal energy.
It is frustrating that the energy I have gathered so carefully diminishes beyond expectation when facing Ariel.
Yet, as I told Ariel, I do evaluate her.
Highly enough to consider using my strongest piece in her service.
"Potimas-sama. How should we position the external defense?"
"Leave it to you."
Thus, when my subordinate requested orders via communication, I delegated entirely.
I had no intention of looking away from the monitor displaying Ariel.
Let the subordinate handle external matters.
The only threats worth vigilance are Queen Taratect and Shiro.
Neither threat compares to Ariel. No need for direct intervention.
Focus now on witnessing the end of my long-standing enemy.
Ariel pressed a hand to the abdomen she had lost, breathing heavily.
Even inhaling air saturated with carbon dioxide only worsens her condition.
Healing is impossible due to the magical interference field.
As expected.
That is the purpose of the magical interference.
That is the purpose of the carbon dioxide.
Magical interference restricts divine combat ability and regenerative capacity. Carbon dioxide slowly drains energy. Type Omega accelerates the process.
A strategy devised by a mortal to kill a god.
Ariel, not a god herself, cannot be defeated by such means.
“AAAAAA!”
Type Omega launched another assault on Ariel.
The drill pierced Ariel’s chest, creating a large hole.
Yet Ariel, anticipating such injury, seized Type Omega’s arm with her left hand and restrained it.
“Got you. There.”
Until now, Ariel’s attacks had been completely outmaneuvered by Type Omega’s speed—none had landed.
Had Ariel deliberately allowed Type Omega’s attack to strike her, in order to deliver her own?
Ariel’s right hand was clamped tightly.
A powerful right cross was thrown.
With Type Omega’s arm trapped in her left hand, there was no chance to evade.
The full-force blow struck Type Omega.
The fist crashed into the area corresponding to Type Omega’s face, rupturing the metal like a balloon.
The impact propagated through the body, causing Type Omega’s entire form to fragment explosively.
“How was that? See?”
Ariel smiled, smugly triumphant.
A massive wound split through abdomen and chest, a fatal injury by biological standards.
Yet, regrettable.
“Regrettable, but not over.”
Before Ariel’s eyes, the fragmented body of Type Omega began to regenerate.
In less than a second, it returned to its previous state—whole, unharmed.
If a god could do it, then an entity infused with comparable energy should be capable as well.
Especially since Type Omega was not biological. It was merely a mass of simple metal.
It was controlled remotely through magic alone.
A complex biological organism versus a simple metallic structure.
The energy required for regeneration was inherently greater for the former.
Efficiently drain the opponent’s energy. Minimize one’s own loss.
Enable prolonged operation.
That was the essence of Type Omega.
"Second round begins."
With those words, Type Omega attacked Ariel once more.
The second round might be the end.
It doesn’t seem likely to last until the final round.
Indeed, this is not a place that reaches a final round—eternal rounds without end, a hell of perpetual repetition.
