○Survivor
Hibuya Kousuke
First year at Sakagahara High School.
A courageous young man who serves as the de facto leader among the students of Gakagō High School, despite being only in his first year.
Member of the Literature Research Club and childhood friend of Takeshima Yuuo.
Though he never appears in the story, he uses a homemade weapon consisting of a metal pipe with nails attached to the end. Supposedly capable of piercing a skull with minimal force.
Strong sense of justice, but somewhat inflexible. The incident where he wet himself after being attacked by a zombie has become a complete black mark in his personal history.
Asada Rika
Year one at Kagakyo High School.
The girlfriend of Yasuhara Kousuke. She had been deeply infatuated with Kousuke even before the strange events began, and it was she who confessed her feelings to him.
A member of the track and field club, she is senior to Tada Ritsuko. Though petite, she is confident in her athletic ability, which is why she volunteered for the "captain" supply squad.
Konno Rentarou
Year one at Kagakyo High School.
A classmate of Yasuhara Kousuke.
A slightly psycho-looking boy who's always grinning. A member of the homebody club.
He talks too much about irrelevant things, yet says little about his own past. The only thing outsiders know is that he was raised by a grandfather who was “like a mountain bandit.” His survival knife is his personal item, but he apparently also has a collection of items that “violate the law.”
Among ready-made meals, I like shrimp pilaf.
Tada Ritsuko
Second year at Sakagahara High School.
Has a tan complexion, distinctive of her former "track and field" team member status. Though retired now, she once helped out in various other club activities as a backup.
Among the refugees except for the protagonist, she has the highest combat ability and is said to have taken down a "zombie" with a single high kick. Her weapon is a homemade one, a broom modified with blades attached.
She's the protagonist's favorite—meaning LOVE, not just LIKE.
Kimi no Asuka
Third-year student at Sagakou High School.
Member of the "Manga Research Club." Though her drawings aren't particularly skilled, she openly declares her dream of becoming a voice actress.
She should be a classmate of the protagonist, yet until the anomaly occurred, he had never even noticed her existence.
She wields a modified shovel with sharpened blades—apparently knowledge gained from a certain manga.
Incidentally, when introduced alongside Hayano Rentarō, there's a subtle tendency to confuse the names—“Hayano, Kuni no” sounds too similar. The author secretly regrets this decision.
Sasaki Yōsuke
An English teacher at Sakagahara High School.
According to the protagonist, “Fart Bastard.” Known for his frog-like face and high-pitched voice.
His hobbies include watching movies, and his favorite drama series is Star Trek. He admires Captain Picard.
He has lived in the U.S. for a considerable period, making his English fluent—so fluent, in fact, that students reportedly find him hard to understand.
Though he’s said to be devoted only to his wife, he is currently separated from her and is visiting his family home in Shikoku.
Suzuki Asaka
A physical education teacher at Sagakyo High School.
In fact, she comes from a very wealthy family and already has enough assets to live comfortably without working. Yet she continues teaching, likely out of her own personal convictions.
Her family home is surrounded by a massive wall and even has an elaborate nuclear fallout shelter, so she isn’t overly concerned about her family’s safety.
Asada Gōzō
A leader who unites all the refugees. Though naturally reserved, this very trait makes her seem somewhat overshadowed despite being in charge.
Officially a police officer, she’s apparently done almost nothing but desk work. As a result, she’s not particularly skilled with firearms.
The Hyōgō family, who have turned into "zombies," were longtime neighbors and close acquaintances.
Hibiya Norio
Hibiya Norio's father, who barely escaped from a Self-Defense Force camp attacked by a monstrous pig.
He believed that if he could reach his family home in Shiga Prefecture, he might survive this crisis... but due to his son Norio's strong resistance, he stayed at Sakagahara High School.
Originally, due to his primary occupation being extremely demanding, the relationship between father and son wasn't very good. He does seem to be making an effort to communicate with his son, but so far, it's been completely unsuccessful.
Mizutani Rui
The eldest daughter of the Mizutani family, now the sole survivor. Second grade elementary school student.
The deaths of my grandfather and father were brushed off as "having gone far away," but I witnessed my mother, Tadako, die with my own eyes.
Nakata Hideotoshi
Handsome.
●Dead
Takana Isao
First year at Sagakyo High School.
Affiliated with the Literature Research Society. Incidentally, the society's name is somewhat misleading, as most of its actual activities have consisted of playing board games in the clubroom.
Weekends are typically spent in the clubroom, becoming a routine that has so far spared them from being caught up in the strange events.
In the story, he accurately shoots out the eye of a pig "monster" with a pistol he'd just picked up, but how someone with no shooting experience could perform such a feat remains a mystery.
Mizutani Ichirou
An elderly man brought to Gakkyō High School in a wheelchair.
Intending to head to the hospital, I fled to Gakko High School after being bitten on the shoulder by a "zombie."
Kounosuke Mizutani
A man turns into a "zombie" after being bitten by his real father. In a desperate attempt to resist, he stabs a knife into his father's chest, but is unable to do anything further and dies.
Midutani Tadako
A woman of ill fortune who lost both her husband and her father-in-law at the same time. Afterwards, she became increasingly prone to nervous breakdowns, and despite everyone's pleas, she walked of her own accord toward a horde of "zombies."
Kanzaka Yōjirō
A student who became a "zombie's" meal just moments before the protagonist arrived at Sakagō High School.
A first-year member of the Literature Club, and a clubmate of Kōsuke and Isao.
Takada Takashi
A student who became prey to the "zombies" alongside Yōjiro.
Having joined a life-or-death mission alongside Yōjiro and Kōsuke, whom he had barely met, he was likely a remarkably brave individual.
Kobayakawa Kimitaka
A member of the Ground Self-Defense Force who drove a military truck from Hibiya to Sakagō, accompanied by the Hibiya family.
Even though he was protecting ordinary people, he couldn't stop worrying about having turned his back on the pig "monster."
