170: Arrival at the Third Primal Colony ※
This chapter is told from Vee's perspective.
"Hey, we're finally here— the Third Primal Colony is in sight."
"About time."
The Carnival Viper approaches the large cylindrical colony floating in space.
That's the Carnival Viper... actually, our ship's proper name is the Shake Border. This colony is both the place where we'll be upgrading our ship and where we'll be staying for a while.
"It feels like there are fewer ships docked here compared to other colonies."
"That's because the Third Primal Colony prioritizes quality over quantity in its production."
"Ahh, I see."
There are multiple Primal Colonies within the Sybrazmis System, each with its own distinct focus.
The First Primal Colony emphasizes mass-market appeal and large-scale production.
The Second Primal Colony prioritizes research and development.
The Third Primal Colony, as previously mentioned, values quality over quantity, focuses on luxury items, and offers custom-made products when needed.
The Fourth Primal Colony produces materials and daily necessities used by the other colonies.
The Fifth Primal Colony maintains a permanent exhibition hall and handles public relations for the entire Syblasmith system.
The Sixth Primal Colony produces large-scale structures larger than itself.
And so it goes.
In addition to the Primal Colonies, countless sub-colonies exist—colonies dedicated to specific corporations, others specializing in mining and refining, colonies serving as maintenance hubs for spacecraft in deep space, and colonies providing services for small cargo ships operating exclusively within star systems, each constructed and operated according to its unique purpose and function.
There are probably even small colonies owned individually by individuals.
So, Joharis naturally takes precautions, but let's remind Satu as well not to recklessly send the main body into space later.
After all, in the Shibrausmith system, you never know who's working where.
"Arrived. Vee-sama, just confirming—tomorrow afternoon is when we're handing over the 'Carnival Viper,' right?"
While I was thinking such thoughts, the 'Carnival Viper' entered the dock of the Third Primordial Colony and came to a halt without incident.
Since Johalys asked me about it just to be safe, I replied.
"That's correct. However, anything too large to be carried by individuals must be collected by contractors during the morning, and any documents that can't be displayed today must be completely cleared out by the end of the day. The same applies to personal belongings."
Also, while the disposal by contractors covers various locations, some food items will be sold after confirming their condition.
Canned goods, for example.
It's a bit of a waste, but since we're making extensive modifications to the interior, we have no choice but to remove all food and daily necessities entirely. Continuously storing these items in perfect condition would incur significant costs.
So, unfortunately, this is unavoidable.
Understood. We're fine with the documents and personal items. You're okay with that too, right, Master Vee? What about the notes?
"No issues with the notes. In fact, I don't really have any physical personal belongings to begin with. How about you, Satu?"
"I've already sent everything to the ether space, so no problem there."
"Is that... really okay?"
"I said I sent it, but I did pack everything properly into boxes and bags, so it’s not scattered around over there. There’s no problem at all. In fact, once the renovation is completed according to the plans, it’ll just be a matter of putting everything back in place—done."
"I see."
For a moment, I imagined Satu’s main body in the ether space surrounded by a chaotic mess of belongings, but apparently, that wasn’t the case.
Now that I think about it, Satu's private quarters are always neatly organized, so she's definitely not the type to leave things scattered around.
Still, it's somewhat envy-inducing that we won't need to unpack later.
"Regardless, verification is necessary, so let's have Memo and the others tour the ship thoroughly and check everything."
"Got it."
"Understood."
You're right. Let's carefully go through what should be sold, what shouldn't, what needs to be discarded, what must be present, and what must not be present.
We begin touring the interior of the Carnival Viper.
It's common sense that things like this can't be left to chance, and just because we have Memo, an artificial intelligence, doesn't mean we can afford to be careless.
That's why we display a manual tailored to this situation and proceed with checks according to its contents.
"Um, this area will be discarded, right? Then let's use it for dinner and breakfast tomorrow."
"We should make a proper inventory of these valuables. We can't be sure there won't be someone with a bad habit of stealing."
"Checking the data. It's fine. There's no sensitive information left on board—nothing that would cause issues if made public."
The container's seal is also fine. I have the keys—electronic, physical, and mod—on hand.
And thus, upon confirmation.
The meal has become slightly more lavish.
I feel like Satā's cooking skills are definitely improving.
