213: Repair Complete

213: Repair Complete

"Finally, the repairs are done."

"It took quite a while, didn't it?"

"I suppose that's to be expected. With everything that happened with Magatsuki, it was all quite hectic."

"But now, our hotel life is over."

A few days after finishing dinner at Akira Sushi...

The repairs to the 'Carnival Viper' have finally been completed.

So today, we'll confirm that the repairs have been properly finished.

"Of course, there's no visible change externally."

"Actually, if there were changes to the exterior, that'd be a problem. That was the agreement, after all."

First, the exterior.

As far as I can tell with my own eyes, there's no difference.

Perhaps Vilijanira could spot minor scratches or signs of improvement—but since she's not mentioning anything, it probably means any changes are within acceptable limits, or insignificant.

"Now, let's check the interior."

"Satā-sama, Joharisu-sama, please check for any hidden traps or anomalies, just to be safe."

"Got it."

"Understood. Though the only thing I can detect is mods."

Having confirmed there were no changes outside, we moved inside.

The corridor... well, it's unchanged, as expected.

After all, tampering with the passage would only make movement more inconvenient—useless at best, and a hindrance at worst.

For now, I'll check that there are no strange things, just as Memokushi instructed.

Given the current situation with Virijianira, there are bound to be people willing to take risks to gather information.

"First, let's head to the cockpit."

"Hmm, it's set up just as we wanted, isn't it? It looks like piloting will be easier than before."

The cockpit... I think the layout has changed slightly in detail.

It's exactly how Jhaharis wanted it, and if you compare it to a typical spaceship cockpit, one noticeable difference would be that the main seat is actually a port designed to connect to Jhaharis's mobility unit, rather than a traditional seat.

Yeah, since only Jhaharis ever sits in the 'Carnival Viper's cockpit, there's no issue at all.

Even if something happened to Jhaharis, the backup pilot would be fine as long as there's a connection port like with Memokshi.

"Living room with a kitchen. Yeah, just as Meemokshi and I requested."

"Yes, now we can serve delicious tea to Lady Vee."

"I'm looking forward to it, Meem."

"It's convenient for us to come and go."

The rest room, now the living room, complete with a kitchen.

The living room should become a place where everyone can relax once we add furniture, and also a spot where we can eat meals.

As for the kitchen, it's set up exactly as I and Memokshi requested—perfect for simple cooking and brewing proper tea.

We’ll have to be careful not to make a mess.

"Going to quickly check the power furnace."

"Please do. Johalis."

"Miss Vee. Memo will also check the weapons."

"Yes."

Johalis and Memo will each handle the checks on the power furnace and weapons.

As expected, Johalis excels in hardware, while Memo excels in software—making them both invaluable in situations like this.

I, meanwhile, stay on guard beside Virijanira, while also checking the mainframe to ensure no suspicious mods have been installed on the ship.

That said, there are no signs of anything unusual at the moment.

"This is a storage area, right?"

"We'll need to order and stock up on water and supplies later. The clothing space should also be able to accommodate the duplicator."

Moving on to the storage area.

Well, it's currently empty.

Still, I'll go ahead and check the status of all available functions.

The duplicator, which was already here before the repairs... seems to be working fine.

In addition, water used aboard the spacecraft is filtered and recycled as much as possible to maintain circulation within the vessel. However, as a mandatory requirement for spacecraft operation, a reserve supply of water must be stored onboard in case the recycling systems fail and become unusable.

In the case of the 'Carnival Viper,' the water I used will never return—making this even more critical.

And then I continued checking several rooms, including the reception area...

"Private rooms... we need to check them, so we can't skip entering."

"That's right. We must enter."

"Of course. Otherwise, there'd be no point."

"There might be anomalies that only someone with expertise in each individual's specialty could detect, so we can't afford to be careless."

Finally, each person's private room.

Well, right now, with no furniture placed yet, there's nothing particularly noteworthy about them.

Still, even though it's a private space aboard the ship, I can't help feeling uneasy about it.

Still, I check the rooms of Virijanila, Memokushi, and Johariss in turn, confirming there's nothing amiss.

Then comes my own room...

"Exactly as Satā requested, but clearly much more secure than the others."

"Ah, just preparing for the worst-case scenario, you know."

"Given what's ahead, we're being kept separate for a reason, I suppose."

"Lord Vee. May I suggest considering this as a fallback escape route, just in case?"

The door is equipped with a much more robust locking mechanism than the others, resistant to physical, electronic, and mod-based attacks alike.

Once inside, you'll find a mod device capable of deploying shields in both directions—inside and outside the room—along with a power source waiting to be activated.

I intend to make sure such situations don't happen, but if this device is to serve as equipment for checking various mods under the 'VanillaOS' environment, then something like this becomes necessary.

Incidentally, as Joharis mentioned, the energy pathways and air circulation inside this space are entirely separate from those outside the room.

In fact, even if the 'Carnival Viper' were to explode, this room would remain unharmed, and it's designed to function safely even when placed alone in outer space.

So, as Memokushi said, it could potentially serve as an escape route in case of emergencies.

That said,

"If Satā isn't nearby, then yes."

"But if Satā is around, the greenhouse would be safer, wouldn't it?"

"I agree. They can't even break in there in the first place."

"Anyway, it's just a getaway route for when I'm not around."

If I'm here, it'd be faster and more reliable to retreat into the Ether Space.

"In any case, it seems there won't be any problems. Shall we call the contractors and bring in the items we'd stored?"

After that, everything went smoothly, the delivery was completed, and the modifications to the 'Carnival Viper' were finished.
