308: Reward for Resolving the Incident
"Commander Vilijanila. Thank you sincerely for resolving the mysterious incident that plagued our fleet. On behalf of all the crew, I extend our deepest gratitude."
"Thank you, Commander Dragstark. However, I didn't do much myself. The resolution of the incident was made possible by the efforts of Satā and the soldiers."
"Please don't downplay your role. It was Lady Vilijanira who pinpointed the general locations of the replication devices, aside from our vessel."
The Imperial soldier's replication incident had been resolved.
Another issue had arisen—discovering that an immense number of insectoid space monsters inhabited the alternate dimension—but that matter was not our concern to resolve.
To be honest, we're not even sure if those insectoid space monsters are inherently hostile toward humans.
It's best not to interfere.
Anyway, enough of that.
As such, since we've taken on the case, Dragstarque has requested an audience, and so we've arranged to meet with him in what appears to be the captain's quarters.
Naturally, Vilijanila will be leading the conversation.
So, I, Meqoxi, and Jhoharis quietly stand behind Vilijanila, listening to the conversation.
This is the current situation.
"Fufufu. If we're talking about that, shouldn't we mention Lord Dragstarck as well? I've heard you've been quite active in hunting down the fake cosmic monster that my imposter has transformed into."
"Yes, that success is entirely due to my subordinates and Satā-sama's efforts. I merely authorized using the ink Satā-sama provided in the manner of a tranquilizer round. The ones deserving praise are not me, but my subordinates and Satā-sama."
"Fufufu, is that so?"
Meanwhile, the fake Vilijanira A that had transformed into a mock cosmic monster has already been defeated.
As Dragstar Q said, I injected the mod from my countermeasure into a bullet equipped with a shield-piercing mod, then fired it, thereby disabling the mod the fake space monster used to maintain its body.
By launching a sudden, aggressive assault from there, they reportedly finished the job immediately.
Incidentally, the artificial human manufacturing device hidden aboard the ship used by the fake Viridianiela group was also found to contain mods related to insect-like space monsters and reproduction.
However, it seems we were not created from original data, but rather constructed using external data input, which is why we ended up so crude.
"Now then, though not a reward, there is something for Lady Viridianiela following this incident."
"Are you giving this to me?"
It seemed their mutual praise had reached its limit.
The atmosphere between Dragstarque and Viridianiela shifted.
"This is it, then."
"Is this a transmission-only information terminal? May I examine the details?"
"Of course."
Dragstarque produced a device small enough to fit inside the palm of his hand.
From the outside, it seems to have only about three buttons, and probably just a microphone and a data transmission antenna on the back.
It's remarkably simple in design.
First, this incident has demonstrated to us the remarkably exceptional ability of Lady Viridianiara in resolving difficult situations. The same can be said for Lady Sata and her companions. Given that we now face a significant and challenging mission ahead, we cannot help but consider how best to fully utilize the capabilities of Lady Viridianiara and her team.
...
"At the same time, it's nearly certain that our actions in this matter have been exposed to the Siltrilich system, the target of our mission. While we can only hope they haven't pinpointed our current location or exact arrival point, if our objective is known, they'll surely turn it to their advantage. That means an ambush is guaranteed."
"……"
Ah, I see now. I understand exactly what the Dragstarque wants Viridianiara to do.
Indeed, that's something only Viridianiara could do, and she wouldn't refuse if asked.
"Viridianiara-sama. This terminal allows you to issue a single, top-tier command to our fleet. I ask that you remain vigilant against sudden, devastating attacks—one that could annihilate the entire fleet—especially during the ambush."
And Funaka, she could manage that.
I don't know exactly what measures they'll take, but they couldn't possibly be unprepared, knowing we're coming.
"...Understood. I'll accept the mission. Just once, though."
Just once. I apologize, but granting unlimited authority would be problematic. However, as an alternative, I've arranged for Lady Vilijanira to participate in meetings between captains. Depending on the discussions held there, it may be possible to interfere with our actions without even using your terminal.
I see, I understand. Then I'll do it that way.
Incidentally, there's no need to consider the possibility that Funaqa isn't in the Siltoririchi system.
If she isn't there, it'll be easier... regardless, we can easily seize control, and we'll be able to significantly weaken the opponent through technology and information that have no connection to Funaqa herself.
"Then, with six days remaining until arrival at the Siltoririchi system, I'd appreciate it if you'd prepare yourself mentally for the impending battle."
"Yes, of course. I'll do just that. Then, I'll take my leave."
"Yes. Then, I'll take my leave."
Thus, Virijanira obtained command authority for just one time, and we left the captain's cabin.
