005 Training Arc 5 Station Base Building

005 Training Arc 5 Station Base Building

This is the sixth of ten chapters submitted.

I teleport to the plaza in front of the station’s administrative district first thing in the morning, heading toward the administrative tower.

I go to the reception desk and ask them to call Minna.

After a moment, Minna arrives.

“Crystal? What’s up, huh? What’s the matter?”

She tilts her head, peering at my face. Her tail wiggles in a question mark shape.

(Oh, her tail’s making a “?” w w)

“I came to talk about setting up a base here at the station today.

I want to make the most of the free rental period, so I’m thinking of moving in.”

Minna makes a thoughtful face, pausing to consider.

“Housing can’t be assigned until your Personal Ship is completed and your storage bay is set.

Until then, you’d have to stay at a guest facility—but there isn’t one here.

Since you can teleport, just come and go as needed.”

"True. But I gotta pick up yesterday’s salvage—diamonds—and I need a place to stash them, right?"

"There’s a rental warehouse, though. Can’t live there, though. If that’s fine, I’ll show you now."

I ask nicely, and follow Minna.

"This is the commercial district. Rent a warehouse, and the guild handles the transfer of salvage for you.

Normally, you’d use the storage vaults. This place is for overflow—people whose stuff didn’t fit in the vaults.

Commercial district also handles trade in salvage, so some folks use it for that."

I rent a warehouse from the merchant house Minna introduced me to.

Signed a seven-day contract—gave myself a buffer of one extra day beyond the six-day minimum.

Six days would’ve been 4,200G. Seven days? Weekly discount—4,000G. Cheaper that way.

The wristband info makes picking up guild cargo transfers a breeze.

All payments handled through account management. Convenient.

Still… spending 4,000G on storing something worth zero G? Looks kinda insane from the outside.

Nah, nah—gotta be fine. I’ll be bringing in proper salvage soon enough.

My stomach growls out of nowhere. Oh right, haven’t eaten since morning.

This kind of economic stuff? Gotta know it if you’re gonna live on the station.

I ask Minna for a quick bite spot.

“Got any place to grab something light?”

“Commercial district’s got a food alley, nya. Stalls’ll be setting up here soon, nya.”

Just now, the morning was too early—no stalls around the commercial transfer plaza. Now they’re gathering, slowly but surely.

Purchased a sandwich—meat and vegetables stuffed into a flatbread, about 600 grams, around 900 yen.

Treated Minna to one too. Gave her a hard time this morning, after all.

Really good. Minna says the vendor’s actually a gamer doing this as a side hustle.

Returned to the administrative transfer port and parted ways with Minna.

Walked solo to the guild and took on a quest.

This time, a free debris collection job. Gotta aim for the debris with expired kill rights, if possible.

Boarded rental ship #10. Don’t know why, but I just… kept picking it.

"Alright, let’s get to work today!"

Would be great if you found this even a little bit fun—any support like bookmarks or ratings would mean a lot.
