039 Idol Arc 15: New Song Release Event 2

Sorry I'm late.

Lock the avatar-mode broadcast feed in place and take position.

Me on the center right. Nahoko-san slightly behind and to the left of center.

Saya behind my right. Miu behind and to the left of Nahoko-san.

Power up the Wide-Area Communication Device S-Type. Prepare to stream the new song’s karaoke across all channels.

Full control mode—interfere with the enemy fleet’s comms too.

Normally used to hack communications and inject false data.

Now repurposed to force-feed the song into their ears.

Would’ve had to shoot speaker shells into their ships if this hadn’t worked.

“Here we go.”

With Nahoko-san’s signal, cue the new song’s intro.

And during that intro, I—Kirara—have to make my welcome announcement.

"Hey everyone! I'm your new member, Kirara! Pleasure to meet ya—wait, what the hell, I messed up the line—"

Nahoko-san launches into the song right on cue.

I scramble to hit my own part.

Saya and Miu step forward in unison. I fall back with Nahoko.

We’re doing maneuvers that have zero combat value—purely for dance expression.

From the outside, it probably looks like a Blue Impulse aerobatic display.

What we’re actually showing off is what you’d call formation dancing.

There’s a reason the enemy fleet hasn’t attacked yet.

Turns out, they’re a fan fleet made up of Brushlips (b r a s h l i p s) devotees.

President Kamizawa’s match was rigged beyond doubt—after all, he’d baited the whole thing with Brushlips special merchandise.

Ayame’s voice hits the chorus.

The railgun fires in time with the chorus line.

The otaku fleet scrambles, jostling for the shot—each one desperate to intercept it.

Saya fires her missile during her part.

"Reward for youuuu!!"

The otaku ship dives in—explodes.

One of the ships, seeing that, swings a tiny anti-ship blade at me like it’s sending a reply.

Looks just like a blue kimbura.

Miyu sings her next line and hails a downpour of beam responses at the otaku ship.

"Explosion reply—best ever!!"

The otaku ship ascends into the sky.

Every time a new verse comes up, I shoot down another otaku ship.

No damage—just a bean shooter—but the otaku ships seem delighted.

I’d appreciate it if you’d accept me as the new member.

Apparently, some otaku are exclusivist ideologues who refuse to accept newcomers.

President Kamizawa must’ve considered that and chosen a moderate DD.

The song ended.

The otaku ships scattered, all with happy faces.

We managed to finish without a major fiasco… well, aside from me tripping up once…

“Thank you all so much for the hospitality, darling~♡”

Naho blurted it out.

“Seriously? You’re okay with that?!”

That might be popular with otaku, but isn’t it kinda damaging to the SFo player image?

Anyway, better smile and sell the charm.

“Thank you so much~♡”

The nekoma is really getting the hang of it…
