第61掘:ダンジョン制作開始 (Part1)
**Dungeon Floor 61: Starting Dungeon Construction**
**Starting Dungeon Construction**
**Side: Tori**
Seven days have passed since the immigrants from the Kingdom of Roschur arrived.
While there were some troubles due to the sheer number of people, there haven’t been any complaints directed at us so far.
Speaking of trouble, there was a squabble over supplies at the training grounds. Both parties claimed a colored pen was theirs. It turned out to belong to a third party. Are they idiots? Regardless, I sent both of them to the reflection room. As punishment, they’ll be on toilet cleaning duty for the foreseeable future.
There were various other minor issues: the laundry area was too small, so we had to set up a rotating schedule; people were lining up for the toilets in the morning, so I had to issue a warning. There were even some fools who, much like the Fairy tribe, spent all the money we gave them immediately and then demanded more. Ah, I’ve already used the slave collars to issue a command preventing anyone from extorting money through threats. It’s quite a convenient tool, isn't it?
Anyway, we have a total of 355 people now. Thirty of them have been assigned to my police force. It’s a trial period, but since they chose this place after receiving a proper explanation, I hope they’ll work hard. We have members of the Fairy tribe who served previously, so despite some initial clumsiness regarding practical work and instruction, we’re managing just fine. We also have to allocate personnel to Riel’s training ground security, but we have just enough people to make it work.
As the police representative, I’m swamped with administrative work—creating rotation schedules for the night shifts, asking my subordinates to handle payroll, checking necessary supplies, and so on. Riel helps me out with things outside of training ground security, but Kaya is too busy with the agricultural district to come over and assist.
"The number of people has increased, and the workload has spiked all at once. Assuming the town is now fully operational, I’ve already set up security posts in the districts where residents are moving. For now, I really need to get these reports summarized."
Thinking about the future while clearing through today’s paperwork, I realized it was already past noon.
"Hey, Tori! We said we’d all eat lunch together today, so let’s go."
Riel burst into the room. Come to think of it, just as Riel said, we were supposed to have lunch with the representative members and then go straight into a meeting, weren't we?
"Wait just a second. I’m almost done with this."
I finished the last of the day’s documents.
"Alright, since we have a meeting right after lunch with the representatives, everyone else please head home as soon as you finish your work. Make sure to confirm the handovers with the night shift staff. If there are any problems..."
I called out to the rest of the police force still working at their desks before heading out.
"Man, being the police chief is tough, isn't it?"
"What are you saying? You’re the deputy chief, Riel, so you’re doing the paperwork too, right?"
"I just fill in the documents that you or Yuki-san prepare. It’s not on your level, Tori."
Chatting with Riel like that, we arrived at the inn.
"Oh, you two made it."
"Over here."
"Haa~ If Kina finds out I’m here, she’s going to denounce me."
"Phew, that was a good bath. Oh, Tori and Riel are here."
I took my seat while talking with the other representatives. After spending this much time together, it feels like our respective positions have naturally settled into place.
"Alright, everyone, sorry to keep you waiting!!"
"Take it easy, Aslin."
"Brother, Brother!!"
"Yes, yes, I’m following right behind you."
"...Yuki, aren't you going to say something to me?"
"What do you want me to say?"
"...Like, 'I love you'?"
"You should at least say that much. As my husband, you need to get used to how to treat women."
"...I agree with Seraria."
"What, are you telling me to go around picking up women everywhere?"
After Yuki-san said that, he had his cheeks pinched by Seraria-sama and Labyris, and his foot kicked. Yet, looking at them from the side, they look just like a family with their children.
"Now then, it’s a bit heavy for lunch, but we’re having steak. Marbled beef, at that."
Yuki-san placed the steaks in front of everyone. I’ve eaten steak several times before, but this is different from the steak on this continent. It’s seasoned generously with spices, and the sauce is superb. It’s irresistible! It’s such wonderful deliciousness!
And it’s marbled! It’s not tough! It’s tender, it melts in your mouth! Do you understand? Meat like this actually exists! And the white rice that comes with it—a versatile food that goes with anything! It’s good stir-fried, good with sauce, and good as a palate cleanser for strong-flavored dishes like this! This dungeon is filled with the pinnacle of cuisine!
And so, I gobbled up everything served to me. Ah, happiness. After the greasy and rich food, drinking the astringent green tea was a nice breather. It’s such a luxury.
"Man, it’s delicious as always. I don’t think I have the confidence to live outside anymore. By the way, Brother, why are you serving something like this for lunch when it’s usually dinner fare?"
Ratz asked the important question in my stead while I was still dazed.
"Well, many of you won't be having dinner tonight, so I made a larger lunch."
"What do you mean? Is there some kind of work?"
"Yeah. Milly’s adventurer district has started moving in earnest with this new batch of personnel. But the most important thing is missing. Right, Milly?"
"Yes. We don’t have a dungeon to attract adventurers. So, I’m sorry to ask this of you all, but as we discussed in a previous meeting, I’d like you to create a dungeon. Of course, it’s not something that needs to be done today or tomorrow, but the sooner, the better. I’m sorry to Eris and Ratz, but I’ve decided to create a training dungeon with the members of the guild. Could you two handle the other one?"
"I see, that’s what it is. We’re creating the main attraction for this dungeon. I understand what you’re saying, Milly. We two will have no problem with that."
"Yes, Milly, do your best with your work."
"Thank you."
I see. We’ve gotten used to handling DP and doing various things with it, so the idea is to use that to create a dungeon as well. This is the kind of thing that gets fun once you start tinkering with it; I might even forget to eat.
