第349堀:発信機、逆探、そう言うのは基本 (Part2)
"That’s the gist of it. This way, we can identify the enemy's likely base of operations, investigate it, and then we can simply march in and strike directly. Since the perpetrators are individuals not affiliated with any state, even if it happens within a country that claims extraterritorial rights, it will just look like the criminals brought about their own downfall."
"Indeed. If the enemy were a nation, we wouldn't be able to move so freely. To think you had considered it to that extent..."
"Well, it’s all just stuff I heard from Yuki. I’m completely clueless when it comes to this sort of thing."
I’d rather not waste my brainpower on unnecessary details.
Besides, the fundamental premise is that you can’t execute such a plan unless you have the power to win against that organization or nation.
To Yuki, that’s probably a trivial matter.
He could fight—or rather, completely crush—every single country on this continent if he wanted to.
The primary focus of our objective this time is how to avoid triggering a large-scale war.
That is why we are running around so busily.
"So, I want you to leave the Dungeon Core alone."
"...Understood. If that is what Comet-sama wishes."
"However, once the culprits are identified, we will provide all the cooperation and support within our power."
"Yeah, I’ll count on you then."
While I think of this as a privilege, the King and the Chancellor bowing and scraping is such a hassle that I’d say it balances out to zero.
With that part of the conversation concluded, Yuki began to speak.
"Now, regarding future plans, I’ll leave the interrogation of the prisoners to you. It would be problematic for us to take the lead on that, after all."
"Indeed. If we have the permission of Comet-sama and Yuki-sama, we would be honored to handle the interrogation of those criminals. We shall certainly prove the name of the Kingdom of Ex."
"Yes. We’ve also found something we need to look into, so we want to prioritize that. We’ll leave it to you. As for the Magic Sword, it’s a bit dangerous, so please toss it into the dungeon. We’ll arrange for security on our end."
"That is a relief. But, what is this other business?"
"Ah, you heard us earlier, didn't you? That there is someone targeting the Dungeon Core."
"Yes. That implies there is a Dungeon Master or an entity of equal standing, correct?"
"Exactly. And fortunately, we happen to be acquainted with the entity that creates those Dungeon Masters. So, we thought we’d ask them directly."
"Wha—!? T-that is, i-impossible!?"
When I said that, the King and the Chancellor were stunned, beginning to tremble.
Well, I suppose that’s a normal reaction.
"That’s right. A god. I could summon them here, but..."
"P-please, refrain from doing so!!"
"Y-yes!! N-no, it’s not that we have anything to hide, it’s just that our recent failures, and the preparations for hospitality are, are, are..."
Yeah, the Chancellor is starting to break down.
Good thing I didn't summon them.
I mean, if I summoned *that* goddess, their faith and dignity would probably plummet to a depth of ten thousand meters.
And so, we decided to return to Weed for a moment to speak with that goddess directly, but...
"...What do you want so early in the morning?"
Emerging from an apartment in a corner of Weed, wearing a jersey and looking disheveled, is the Higher God who oversees gods from various worlds.
The Goddess herself—Luna, the Useless Goddess.
Yeah, "Useless Goddess" really fits her perfectly.
I think Yuki’s naming sense is amazing.
"It’s not 'early in the morning.' It’s already past noon."
I said that bluntly and showed her my wristwatch.
"...What about breakfast?"
"How should I know!? It’s lunchtime already!!"
"Now, now, I’m sure Luna-sama had her reasons. Please, wait a moment. I will prepare something immediately. I’ll borrow the kitchen, Luna-sama."
The one who said that and headed to the back of the room was Lilishe-sama, the god of our Weed.
This god currently lives in Weed and serves as a priest at the church in Weed for the Litea Holy Religion, which worships her.
She’s a bit of a spacey person, but since she represents the largest religion on this continent, she’s worlds apart from my acquaintance, Hifi.
"O-oh, I’ll help too!!"
And the one who followed that spacey goddess was Hifi, who is indeed worlds apart.
For now, since it was decided that it would be best to ask everyone about the mysterious Dungeon Master, we decided to gather all three of our acquaintances.
"So, what’s the meaning of waking up a goddess who finally watched all her recorded dramas on the first day of her long weekend and was enjoying a sweet, lazy slumber? If you were as diligent as Lilishe or Hifi, you’d be much cuter..."
...Yeah.
Seeing this, I was convinced.
There is absolutely no way we’re getting the answer we want...
Things like this, like a tracking device, are just standard procedure.
Letting the target run is also a basic tenet of investigation.
As a certain red-clad man says, battle is always about thinking two or three moves ahead.
Well then, next time, the long-awaited appearance.
Everyone’s favorite goddess!!
You like her, don't you?
